  1. Well Dodge, what I don't get is bass anglers handicapping themselves with 50 lb test PE lines. oe
  2. I buy plain hoodies and have my elementary aged grandkids design "grandpa's fishing team" jerseys with permanent markers. They usually spark a conversation at the loading ramp... oe
  3. In my experience, Fireline is the most "mono-filament-esque" braid available. If anglers would keep this in mind and use it where they would use a limp mono-filament I think there would be far less criticism of it. oe
  4. Important point that is not often made in rod length discussions. oe
  5. most likely all 9 strands of this line are gel-spun polyethylene (PE). oe
  6. 3 zip-lock bags... green pumpkin, junebug and pearl, baits are mixed by color. oe
  7. I brought one to the boat from the bottom of a 65' drop-off, the eyes looked as if they were going to explode from the head. I released it to swim back down, but considered that a killed smallie. I won't fish deeper than 40' anymore! oe
  8. SpiderWire Ultra-Cast is pretty good handling line oe
  9. ... that lack of congestion gives us a greater clarity of thought. oe
  10. My preference is just the opposite. oe
  11. How far over the daily possession limit will that put him?... oe
  12. note to self: Irish humor falls flat with this crowd... oe
  13. I've got to believe you guys would post a leprechaun's map to the rainbow's end... oe
  14. I would choose the size that balances the rod better. oe
  15. Finesse should not be defined by weight or size, but by a lack of bullishness in the presentation. I cannot comprehend a drop-shot of any weight or bait size not being a finesse presentation. oe
  16. Also one of the "always" crowd... usually thin about 1/3 of the skirt as well. Before you ask, I never fish an undressed jig head either. oe
  17. I do prefer oval split rings also, but I've had a couple of the pear shaped split rings fail for me. If I use a snap I tie direct to the bait's line tie whether or not there is a split ring on it. I leave the existing split ring on the bait for another day's use. oe
  18. I've been waiting for someone else to expound upon how a mono-filament leader can help control speed/depth of your presentation, especially light soft baits. Mono-filament leaders will also smooth out your retrieve (reducing the jerkiness of the bait many anglers have trouble controlling). oe
  19. It's written on the internet, it must be the truth... oe
  20. Considering all of the other commotion going on in and around the water, why would a rod tip slapping the surface be a deterrent to a bass watching a top water bait splashing around 20' - 60' away from the tip slapping??? oe
  21. 7' medium power, extra-fast action spinning rod oe
  22. As stated above: not fished the same... I fish a stick bait as a Neko rig, where as, I fish a Caffeine Shad as a jerk bait. I haven't found a better follow-up bait to a missed walking top-water than the 4" Caffeine Shad when I let it flutter several feet through the water column then jerk it back to the surface. oe
  23. The obvious conclusion is don't try to "bomb" it, cast smoothly and consistently. oe
  24. I'm sorry to laugh while reading of all these men bragging about their long fishing rods... my wife has frequently reminded me that the majority of men don't know how long 8" really is... oe
