I have a couple of "sexy shad" colored suspending jerkbaits I've scraped the paint off both the back and bellies, then used a yellow permanent marker to tint the backs. I like to use them when there's a bright sky. oe

Leader diameter can change the drop speed, as well as, help regulate the speed/depth at which a lighter lure can be retrieved. A 12lb mono leader will significantly slow the drop speed of a 3/32oz hair jig and allow you to almost suspend it in the water column, where as a 4lb leader will allow the same jig to be livelier and retrieved at a quicker tempo. It's about fine tuning your presentation and that can make a huge difference. oe

I've had to change pawls often on the Abu C series, but never had to change out the worm gear... are you sure you need to change both. Order several of the pawls. oe

The two spinnerbaits I use most often have a bend in the blade arm and run pretty "flat". (SOB Mini-me and Zorro aggravator - short arm)

I apologize for the subtlety of my response. When you asked in your thread opener what's my take on them, I assumed you wanted my opinion not merely to encourage your excitement. I'll try again... I don't think this worm will provide a single thing to catch a bass that any other similar sized worm already available won't do. oe

This is about as "over-the-top" an effort to separate an angler from his money that I've seen in a great while... Buy a 7" trick worm; cut it to any length you'd like to fish and rig it on a jig head, texas-rig it, shakey head it, wacky rig it, Neko rig it, drop-shot it... man, anyway you want to fish it! oe

I've never had a Berkley PowerBait worm that actually floated... has Berkley changed their formula recently? oe

Weightless fluke is a jerkbait silhouette bait that can be rigged weedless and successfully fished in your situation. oe

yes it does... oe edit: I don't fish them, but an umbrella rig might tax the presentation equally to the landing?

There are plenty of light top water baits that can be presented easily with med. light spinning gear, but presentation is only 1/2 of the equation. After enticing your bass to the hook, will you have enough rod to control and bring the bass to hand? In most of the environments I fish top waters I need a solid med. (sometimes even med. heavy) action rod to quickly turn my bass and get it headed in my direction. Fighting a bass that has buried itself deeply into cover doesn't do the bass any good and invites disappointment on your part. oe

Another variable to consider when trying to make the line less visible is line diameter. Greater diameter = more visibility. oe

The closest I fish to a double curly tail grub is the Rage Tail Menace, not quite a curly tail, but close... oe

What is it sticky on?... the arbor, which the angler's intent is to cover again with line. I don't see any problem. oe

If you are using PE line (braid) and haven't secured it to the arbor of the reel securely you may be finding the braid is slipping on the arbor as it is turning... oe

Both jig heads are "dressed"... one with natural hair/fur/feathers, the other with synthetic strands. Both may catch more bass with further dressings or trailers... neither will catch many bass totally void of dressings or trailers. oe

I tie a hair jig fashioned after a Whirly Bee, as well as one tied on a RoadRunner. Both fish very similarly but the Whirly Bee is a slightly smaller pattern. Frankly, I use them more often when targeting walleye in current areas. I always have a few in my jig head box. I had to develop a technique to tie the spinner on so it wouldn't foul in the hook when cast which was a far too common occurrence. oe

Fireline can be an aquired appreciation. It has a passive memory (stiffness) that gives it a mono"esque" quality. It's breaking strength is far greater than that listed on the package. I've been using the original on spinning gear since the mid-nineties, put one spool of 20lb test Ultra 8 on a bait caster last season and another 20lb spool on a second bait caster this Spring. After I spooled each of the Ultra 8 spools I spent an afternoon throwing a heavier spinnerbait and the line "broke in" nicely. As to Ultra 8's larger diameter... considering angler's proclivity to use 50lb and 65lb braid for spool management, being a little larger diameter doesn't seem to be a negative quality. oe

Send him your old ones that are all scratched up with very little paint left on them... oe

spinning reel --> tight drag hook set --> larger than expected fish --> loosen drag and back-reel oe

10lb will fish light weights even better... remember, most braid's breaking point is actually much stronger than advertised. The thinner the diameter the less visible the line is. oe edit: re-read this thread after several hours and found I did a p*ss poor job of reading the OP's initial post... 10lb would be too thin for baitcasting, my mind was focused on spinning gear. I've used 15lb with baitcasting gear, but I agree 20lb is a practical bottom diameter.
