  2. lol maybe they saw the crappie stucked to the stringer so they stopped biting lolll
  3. So... theres still some bass spawning today at my little pond even though the spawn started at march! Caught 3 fish. Almost got 4 but a little guy shook the hook off right at the bank!!! At least there were a couple good ones. 1) 2) 3) How much do you think the first and second fish weigh?
  4. lol agreed. If there was one reel that would last forever its the ugly stik's reel. 1 ball bearing=less things that could go wrong
  5. It would be great if they work lol!!
  6. Finally a post that addresses my line memory issue!! Thank you!!!
  7. LOL true but slow on top doesnt work for worms, jigs, senko
  8. 10" castaic swimbait
  9. I like real craws too!
  10. should i fish them fast? stop-go? or slow steady retrieve?
  11. nah, its a cheap reel but it aint horrible. I got it in a combo for $30 couple month ago. It worked pretty well since i got it. Im pretty sure its the line's problem because the first time i used fresh mono line, i had the same problem. I might get an upgrade in 6 month or mayybe a year. so please dont tell me to change my reel because of a temporary line problem.
  12. thanks and no i dont reel in when fish is fighting. I am not causing the line twist. I think its the memory of the line. because when i first used the 6 lb line, i always got tangles every 10 cast too. Then over time, the tangle stopped. This 8lb line is new and spooled right. The direction of line coming off the spool is the same as the direction going on it. Is there a way to speed up the line's memory loss?
  13. I think i should add its more of a line memory thing.
  14. I use trilene big game 8lb 0.011" dia in clear. Does ball bearing swivel reduce sensitivity of bites? I use mostly grubs, worms, craw. i turn the handle down with my hand all the time. Will rinsing the spool in hot water help? or maybe add lubricant?
  15. Hi everyone, I just changed the 6lb mono line on my reel to a 8lb mono because whenever i set the hook on a fish, the drag lets line go and result in a badly set hook. (I set the drag on my reel for 2.5 lb.) so i changed to a 8lb line and now set the drag at 4lb. Sometimes i decrease the drag when the fish feels really big or my rod is bending at a extreme angle. My rod is medium action 6-12 lb line Anyways I went fishing today and got a nest of tangles for every 10 cast. I spool my reel in the same direction as the line unravels from the line spool. Untangling line is mother******* frustrating!!!! I've heard about running hot water on the spool for a 2 minute. I just did it, and hopefully it solves the problem, but i'll find out the coming tuesday. Can some basser give me some advice on reducing line twist? ps. im not sure if im overspooling so i took some pictures of my spool.
  16. bedding bass slams it immediately compared to worm or grubs lol
  17. I like berkley's new fatty havoc craw
  18. Thanks guys. im feeling more confident now lol, i'll go out and fish tomorow.
  19. thanks everyone! Is there a problem w the lures im throwing though
  20. how do i tell males from females? btw sherwood and westlake is a private lake so its kinda hard to fish there. sherwood and westlake is most probably still is spawning season though.
  21. i believe its early post spawn already. Thanks for the infos on the spring season. However what i need is lures options and retrieve tactics for slower early post spawn period. Btw the bass were also harassing the bedding sunfish but not eating them
  22. Its been more than a couple of days since they pulled out of their beds. I reckoned its been a week or so. First bedding bass appeared about a month ago. Today, only saw 1 bedding bass. I caught it but it slipped out of my hands when i was washing the dirt away from its body for a picture lol
  23. I am new to bass fishing. I just learned how to catch spawning bass and is quite successful at it. However The pond im fishing at, in southern california, has reached its post spawn stage currently... temp now go from 70-85.... About a week ago there were plenty of bass spawning... and Today i went out there and saw some pumpkinseed sunfish breeding. but anyway, today temp were 85, i threw grubs/worms/craw/swimbait. all in 3-4" range, but NOTHING bit. I even swam a grub in front of a little 11" bass, and NO reaction. so the question is HOW would you fish a 3-4' deep pond thats 1 acre big. Most Bass are from 9"-12" Temperature are 70-85. What color should the lure be? What retrieve would work?
