A big ol' 6" saltwater bait. I bought it last year and don't even remember the name.

About an hour ago I was here on BR. But, I got tired of reading about fishing and decided to go down to the pond a couple miles down the road and try some top-water action. On my first cast I caught a 7-4 (my biggest this year), and two casts later a 2-4. That was a good enough fix for me, so now it's back to reading about bass fishing again. Sorry, no pictures, I haven't invested in a digital camera yet.

What color(s) work best in clear water? Stained? Muddy? Also, does this change when you switch between soft plastics, hard baits, and spinnerbaits? Thanks for any help.

I'm trying to learn these two new techniques. I've got most of the stuff I need to do it (and the rest is in the mail). But I have some stupid questions: 1. Do you just shake a shakey head? :-[ Or, do you pop it, drag it, etc...? :-/ 2. Do you just drop a drop shot? :-[ Or, do you pop it, drag it, etc...? :-/ I need some help guys.

Rule #1: Don't beat the boss.

But like I said, the main purpose for the observer is to babysit the pro. (Make sure he doesn't get off the boat to land a fish, or snag fish, help him back in the boat if he should fall out, you know, babysitting type stuff) You don't go to a pro football game to babysit the players.....the NFL pays referees to babysit the players while on the field, and they pay them well I might add. it will be funny to see how this pans out .... id laugh my a** off if they couldent get the people they need to watch the pros ... it happens all the time on the weekend series .... the are always haveing boaters switch over to non boaters just so it works ... see you have to remember they need these people through the whole 3 days of fishing ,,, how many people will call into work to watch fridays .... not to mention before the field gets cut ... espn is stupid stupid stupid ESPN might be "stupid, stupid, stupid," but their Elite Series anglers also fishe FOUR day tournaments (Thursday-Sunday), not three day. ;D

I can understand why they would charge observers. You can't go to a professional football, baseball, or basketball game for free. If you want to watch, you've got to pay. I'd do it if it wasn't too much, and they came to our area.

Nice catch! I fished Raystown a few years ago with a buddy and the 10 ya'll caught were, well, 10 more than we caught. ;D

Maybe he dosn't see anything wrong with the present state of BASS.

Welcome Back! It hasn't been quite as bouncy the past few months.

How is this the "death of the amature angler"? The only thing we can't do is fish out of the back of the boat in ONE tournament trail that only has a hundred boats. That's only keeping 100 amatures from doing something they might want to do. You can still fish the BASS Opens as a co-angler. You can still fish the FLW Tour and the FLW Series, as well as the Stren, and BFLs as a co-angler. There are hundreds of other tournament trails where you can fish as a co-angler/amature. Pick your head up, the amature angler is still alive and well!

The oldest largemouth bass known was 17 years old, smallmouth 23 years old, as I recall, both in northern waters where bass live longer. There is always exceptions, however it takes about 5 years for a bass in California,Texas and Florida to reach 5 to 7 lbs and the vast majority live less than 12 years. You really can't go by markings alone, tags or fin clips are more reliable to identify a specific bass. The Dixon lake "spottie" 25 lb? bass may have been the same bass caught at least 3 times, could also have been several bass from the same parents that managed to survive and grow to giant size. Haven't had any feed back to spotties age, length or girth to date. getting off topic. I agree that you can catch the same bass in the same location, year after year, as I have done that several times, with tagged bass. WRB You can't go by markings alone? I think there is an exception with this rule: A bass with a very distinct marking. Fish Chris posted a picture of a bass that he caught, then a few weeks later was caught by someone else. The pictures both showed that the bass had a very distinctive marking. Other good great anglers on BR have claimed to do the same. I'd tend to agree with them.

Just go to Wal-Mart and buy a rod that you can afford. At that price range they'll all be about the same. And the good thing is, if you break it, you aren't out a hundred bucks or more! Also, when you get older and have a fancy bass boat and a dozen high-dollar combos in the rod locker, you'll still be able to keep that 2-piece rod in the trunk of your car, or behind the seat of your truck, and sneak a mini-fishing trip in on a whim. My guess is because some of us love Wal-Mart and some of us hate Wal-Mart. However, when it comes to Iran's missiles, we ALL hate that they have them. We might disagree on the issues that go along with them having the missiles (such as future military action, WWIII, higher gas prices...), but we don't disagree that them having the missiles is a bad thing. :-/

Best idea i have heard in a long long time. Iran is threatening to block off the main passage for oil exports anyway... lets just do it, and dare them the try anything!!!!!!!
