I am about to purchase a Shimano Crucial Swimbait Cast Rod 7-11 Heavy. I'm going to BPS in June, and I could wait until then to get it. However, if I can get it sooner from an online distributer, I will go that route. Any suggestions/links?

I've lost 4 nice bass (between 6-9 lbs.) over the past few weeks on a Mattlures baby bass swimbait. The bigger bass in the pond I'm fishing love the swimbait, but they sure do hate to stay on. 4bizz gave me some good advice about changing my rod and line. So, I figure if I use the proper equipment and ya'll's advice, I'll start catching enough nice bass that I'll have to invest in a digital camera and show you my appretiation. Is the rod tip under the water trick supposed to keep them from jumping, or to keep them on while jumping? Also, to keep the tension on it, should I continue reeling when they jump?

Knowing my weaknesses.

I just bought a 99' Toyota Tacoma last week for a great deal. The truck runs good (with over 200k on it), but the hood and tailgate have a little rust, and the rest of the body has several imperfections/scratches/dents. If I don't do anything to it, will the rusty spots spread? If so, how long will this take to ruin the hood and tailgate? If I get it painted, how much will it cost? Should I go with Maaco or what? Suggestions :-/

No way I'd get mad over fishing line. However, before you pull out the "DUH" card, I think you should probably do a little research on Fireline. Like I posted earlier, I believe it is braided line.

Nah, you'd just abbreviate it to CP in a month or so, and we'd have to keep up with that too.

I have never caught a pike, but I believe they have teeth. Personally, I don't like to use braid when fishing for (or around) fish with teeth. Braid seems to fray and cut a lot faster than regular old mono or florocarbon. BTW, I thought Fireline was braided line. :-/
