  1. I'd estimate the cost to repair: "BANG, Clankity, clank, clank" at about $1000 and up. Sorry.
  2. I'd see if you can take it out for a test spin. Make sure the steering system and throttle and shift cables operate smoothly. Run the motor through it's paces from idle to WOT. Check and see if the boat is taking on water. With the boat off the trailer, check the bunks and fittings on the trailer and especially check those crossmembers. Tracker trailers used a tubular construction method and the crossmembers were prone to rust from the inside out. Go over everything else thoroughly, electronics, batteries, etc. The panfish specials were a fairly simple boat without the bells and whistles of the other tin boats in their lineup. Not a whole lot to go wrong with those but the engine.
  3. I've done it. I release immediately. I don't see where any harm is done.
  4. I've sold quite a few Calcutta's over the past couple years, they're incredible reels. That's all I have to say about that.
  5. I agree with Redline, give us your budget so we can spend your money wisely.
  6. Excellant choice! Is that a 181 or 187? You'll no doubt get hooked on the Champion ride. Most others who have bought one have. Like the color combo!
  7. Just for a point of referance. I installed car stereo's for about 1 1/2 years for a large midwest stereo dealer (out of business now) between 1979 and 1980. Here's a typical install back then that would be considered a fantastic system. Head system Either a Clarion, Alpine (new company) or Pioneer cassette deck Yes, I said a cassette deck ;D A Fosgate 220 punch amplifier Pioneer 6 1/2" 3 way door speakers and 6X9 rear deck speakers. At the time Fosgate, pre Rockwell, had specs nearly as good as some of the home stereo amps we sold on the floor. And this was back in the day of good stereo equipment. The Fosgate was kicking 20 watts per channel but this is rated back in the days when amps were rated at true RMS and not the bogus ratings they use these days. You have no idea just how loud 1 watt of clean amplified sound is.
  8. I've been to a few Nascar races over the years, let's just say what happened doesn't surprise me considering the type of crowd Nascar pulls and even though Jr. publicly asked his own fans NOT to do this before the race.
  9. Great video chuck even without the audio. It was a great day on the lake with ya even though it was a tad windy.
  10. Actually Muddy, he's selling the PQ10's, that's the newer version of the reel you've got. I've got 2 of the PQ1000's like you've got and a couple of the PQ10's. I like both of them. Unless you're doing heavy duty tournament fishing just about any of the BPS reels from the Extreme line on up are pretty good reels for the money.
  11. I'll throw Allstar rods in the mix. I'd take a newer Allstar classic or the TAS rods over a BPS rod anyday. Not anything against BPS rods, I've got a few, for the money they're good rods just a little on the heavy side.
  12. Just don't win a tournament with the thing or the fans will throw beer cans at you. ;D seriously, It's hard to argue with the RevoS. I'll also throw the Daiwa 150 Advantage series in there as well.
  13. My favorite is waiting for the back partner to lean against the trimmed up motor while he's taking a wizz and then hit the trim down button at the front! ;D
  14. lake Girardeau in SE Missouri. The conservation department is always saying they're pulling bass up to 10lbs out of it but I just can't seem to click on that lake. I need to spend next year there. It really looks like a good lake.
  15. Great job Russ. You're in the wrong profession.
  16. Blazer, Storm and Stroker boats come to mind for fast hulls. Most of the name brands you've mentioned make quick enough boats but are primarily designed for overall performance vs. top end speed.
  17. I'm not much of a golfer, but I'd say that Tiger Woods is the KVD of golf. They have a couple of important things in common: 1. Neither man wins every event they enter. 2. Any time they enter an event, everyone's trying to beat them because they are the best at their sports in the world. 3. If either man goes for over a month without winning a tournament there's a bunch talk on the internet about how they haven't done anything lately ;D Ding, ding, ding! The fact that KVD is as good as he is forces everyone to raise the elevation of their game to another level. When that happens, winning becomes even more difficult even for someone of KVD's talent.

If I got so excited at catching a 15" bass that I was spinning around on my head on the front deck of my boat, I could fully expect to see a couple guys in white coats with a very special jacket waiting for me when I got back to the boat ramp. That said, I think the guy is an extremely talented fishermen who's attempting to bring attention to himself and ultimately the sport by putting on these shows.
  19. I also have pointers, Xraps, Rogues and Husky Jerks. If there's a jerkbait bite going I've got enough rods that I can put at least 3 of those on and try each one to see which is biting best. There are basically subtle differences between the actions of the baits and how they suspend and move through the water and those differences are what will cause one bait to work better on one day than the next.
  20. Nice old possum belly George and in great condition! One in that condition can fetch quite a price with collectors or on Ebay. I remember when you were really stylin if you had one but you had to have a pretty wide boat in order to fully deploy both "wings"! ;D
  21. What you're experiencing is chinewalk and yes, you have to learn to drive the boat especially at WOT. way2slow can probably help you on the Stratos, best to make sure you've got the engine height correct first to make sure that's not causing a problem and you also need to make sure you're steering cables don't have any excess slop in it. In the meantime I'd suggest a couple things. Try and find someone experienced in high performance bassboat operation to show you how to drive the boat and also try trimming down just a tad when you start walking, that should straighten things out till you learn. It's sorta a feel type thing.
  22. First of all, if this wasn't a celebrity we were talking about no one would care. Second, since we have no idea what led up to this little exchange it's impossible to judge Mr. Baldwins actions without further knowledge. Third, I know of some 11 year olds that are quite capable of acting, well, not like cute little 11 year olds. Perhaps this child is one of them. Fourth, I was spanked when I was a child. Many other of my peers were spanked. My generation is has spent way too much time coddling our kids and not enough being parents and administering discipline when appropriate, and that includes spanking!
  23. I just sold a pair of those Team Daiwa Advantage reels. One high speed and the other a 5.1. I've never seen those reels before now but they are very sweet, especially for the price. I highly recommend!
  24. Stories are changing. Apparently one of the anglers on the boat let it slip after the initial catch. "I don't think the shark even knew she was snagged" That was changed to "hooked" for the paper. Doesn't make sense though, it had half a porpoise in it's mouth and then tried to take a cobia jig? The Capt of the bigger boat said the fish didn't let go of flipper till the first flyer went into his gill plate. Big fish but the story doesn't hold water as far as a 30lb WR.
  25. Have you taken the palm plate off? You twist that upward and remove it. Remove the spool and you'll find the mystery screw that continues to hold the handle end plate on. Sounds like you might have a spool bearing that's bad or needs lubing.
