Spinnerbait skirt question. RANT
Guys, here goes. I've been in the process of cleaning up the tackle over the winter and I opened the ol spinnerbait box and started going through them. What's the deal with the rubber bands used to hold these skirts together anyway. Literally, half of my spinnerbaits are falling apart. some of these skirts are only a year or two old. The bands I'm referring to are those sorta brownish ones that look a little like a rubber band or perhaps surgical tubing. On the baits that are intact, some of them I can take my finger and rub that band and it's turned to mush. I'm looking at replacing skirts on around 20-30 baits and some of these skirts were just replaced a couple years ago! > I've noticed the black bands used on jigs don't have this problem. Is this some kind of reaction to the skirt or the paint on the bait heads? Is there a maker of skirts out there that uses something other than those bands so I'm not having to replace perfectly good skirts over and over?

Congressional Inquiry
Considering the outlandish profits big oil was raking in when gas was around $3 gallon or higher, I'm sure none are hurting. BTW, all those big profits without the added expense of building some sorely needed new refineries or spending much on exploration for new reserves. Just sit back, ream the American consumer and readjust your seating position as your back pocket wallet keeps getting fatter. Not a bad deal at all for big oil.

BPS Crankin Stick?
I've got 3 crankin sticks. I love the feel of them. If you're throwin deep crankers you might want to bump the action up to MH, a Med action may load up too much.

Crankbait rod?
If you want to test the waters in a crankbait rod to get an idea of what you might want without dropping a load upfront, try out one of BPS crankin Sticks in a 6 1/2 foot, med action. I've got a pair of these along with a 6 footer in medium and all I can say is, I've become hooked on the action. You can probably pick up a premium rod that will weigh less but I doubt the feel and action will be any better than these rods and at $40 internet price or $50 in the store, they're a bargain.

Anyone use the BPS Extreme baitcasting reels?
I picked up a pair of the smaller ETX05's. I sold one and kept the other. I'll be using it this year on a jerkbait/small crankbait rod (Allstar Classic 6' Med.). The reel is extremely smooth and I like the smaller size. I'm very impressed and looking forward to trying this one out ASAP. This is coming from someone who swore off BPS reels years ago BTW.

Question for the CA big bass guys
Thanks for everyones response. As you can see, the photo and story are posted on a legitimate website but I was shocked that the guy did so little to verify the fish. If I had caught that and it weighed that much on my un-calibrated, un-certified Rapala digital scale I'd have to take it somewhere where I could get it officially weighed on the outside chance I may have a new state record. Whatever, the fish is huge and is the first really big fish I've seen come from Missouri waters in quite a while.

Ice fishing dangers
My best safety suggestion is to just stay home. It's cold out there and you want to go stand on some Ice? What, are you crazy?

Deal OR No Deal??
Lightning rods have been around for over 20 years. Before people started buying rods that cost a small mint, the original Lightning rods were one of the nicest rods out in the day. The original EVA foam, pistol grip LR series is in demand. As for your purchase? You certainly didn't lose any money on the deal if you really needed the rods or can resell them.

Do any of you use Crappie Nibbles?
I use them when they're light biting. Seems to get them to hold on a little longer.

Question for the CA big bass guys
This was on another forum. A rumour last May sprung up here in MO. that a 13lber was caught out of Table Rock that was shy of the state record of 13lb 14oz caught out of Bull Shoals over 40 years ago. No idea if the fish was weighed on certified scales. Does this fish look right for that weight (13lbs 4oz)? Here's the link to the story http://rangerowners.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fromreaders/story.cfm?id=1058

Interesting Article: Rapala Acquires Terminator
Well, they ruined the wiggle wart when they bought out Storm. In order to get good ones you've got to go Ebay and pay through the nose.

another one bites the dust
Hopefully they don't ruin the baits like they did the Storm Wiggle Wart line.

Help with value of reel.
Like new in the box with all the papers and other goodies that came with it could fetch up to $120 on Ebay. The 200 series isn't quite as popular as the 100's.

Senko rod...
I use a Team Allstar TAS815CWW wacky worm special. I'm using a BPS Pro Qualifier LP reel this season with 10lb XT line. Very nice technique specific rod.

replacement windshield for boats??
What year Procraft? There's the Maidencraft Procraft years, Brunswick Procraft years and now Tracker Marine Group Procraft. You may have a tough time finding it unless it's a fairly new boat. Try these guys Buds Place for boats Parts department 636-916-4411 They've been selling Procraft in the St. Louis area for quite a few years.

How have you learned the most about fishing
On the water from others in a bass club. The best thing any angler can do is join a bass club and spend some time in the back of a boat with a more experienced angler and learn from them.

Shame on you ESPN2
I did a little research on Cindy since I have no idea who this gal is or where she came from. One of 4 daughters born into a family where the Mom and Dad both loved to hunt and fish. Went over to Africa with M & D on a vacation. Fell in love with the country. Talked Dad into loaning her money to start a guide service for hunting and fishing. Has a guide's license for both. An accomplished fisherwoman with fly equipment. Quite a gal, only 33 years old with an impressive resume and an even more impressive bod!

Breech stop & turn
The description in the video where it states it could save you from a collision is exactly what happened to me. I remember those video's being run at the boat shows but never bothered to try the manuveur. Lo and behold one day a ski boat shot out in front of me from a cove where the view of the entrance of the cove was blocked by trees. Instinctively I trimmed the nose down, shut down and threw the thing into a hard right....... well, it felt like my brain was going to come out my left ear and I nearly got thrown onto the passenger. ;D If you're going to attempt this manuever, and I don't suggest it in anything other than a Champion because I can't promise these results, turn hard left. BTW, my passenger nearly soiled himself when I did this. The second time I did it, on purpose, I did it alone. ;D

Breech stop & turn
Someone here asked me quite awhile back about a breech stop and turn that I had mentioned in a thread. The boat is a Champion 184DC like mine in my avatar. I've done this manuever a couple times in my old 168 Champion, once in an emergency and the other just to do it again for grins. It's a pretty extreme manuever and I don't recommend anyone attempt this at the speeds shown in the video or without instruction from someone who knows how to do it. Enjoy. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=163819493543409222

Boat Cover Quandry
I've got about a $300 cover on my boat and I cover that with a 10x20 tarp I get at Walmart for around $15. I change the tarp about every 4 months. It works great, boat is always dry.

All Star comes through!
I've got a couple Allstars myself and am considering upgrading a couple of my technique specifics rods to TAS rods in the future. Love'em.
