  7. Can someone explain to me the difference between a regular jig and a swim jig? I think swim jigs heads are just slightly different? Also, do you use a steady retrieve on swim jigs? I want to do more jigging this season. Thanks

  9. I rarely throw anything larger than 1/2 or 5/8. I have two mediums ( 6'6" and 6'8" )now and need a rod for my new SX. I am going with something 7 ft range but not sure if I want a MH or not. I want to use this as my go to rod. What do you think? MHF or MF? Thanks
  10. Great info there! Thanks. Gonna rig two with 12lb fluoro one with 15 lb Fluoro and one with 50lb braid.
  11. Hey guys, I have the following gear and was wondering what size rod I should buy. Here are the setups as they are now. 6'6" Vendetta M and a Shimano KVD 6:3:1 6'8" Skeet Reese M/F ( topwater & jerks ) with a Lews speed spool 7:1:1 I just bought a new SX and need a new rod. Was thinking I should pair it with either a 7" M/F Veritas or a 7' M/F JM Carbonlite. Should I consider a M/H/F in either of the above to complete my arsenal ( for now )? Would you change any of the pairings? Any other recommendations on rod brand in the 100.00-150.00 range? Just looking for ideas and any advice is appreciated. Thanks Tom
  12. I never really liked Braid, used only mono for years but in the last couple years switched to fluoro. I like the strength and durability of it. Ive got 3 baitcasters and one spinning rig. Trying to decide what line to put on what reels/ rods. Thinking Mono for the spinning gear but the baitcasters I am not sure if I shoud try braid on any of them or just go Fluoro on all. Ive also been seeing and reading about more people using braid backing but not sure how long the fluoro leaders would be. 6 feet or 75 yards? Not sure what to do. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Tom
  13. For top water and jerks, isnt it best to use a floating line like Mono or Braid?
  14. OK Guys I have a few questions about this as well. I plan on trying it on a couple rods this year. I have a topwater / jerkbait rod that I want to put braid on. Would you use Fluoro leader or Mono? Thinking mono because of the non sink factor but also want the strength. What lb Braid and leaders would you recommend On another rod I use for cranks, lipless etc, I am thinking Fluoro for that however I was also thinking of filling slightly more than half with Braid and maybe the last 75-100 yards with Fuoro. Basically just using braid as a backing and for casting distance. Any advice on these two setups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom
