  1. Yea that footage was incredible. At first I thought the LMB was going after the bait the SMB had - but after seeing it a few times, I think he was going after the SMB - Very cool to see it anyway! He did say it would be out for x-mas.
  2. Justtrying - when I first looked at the picture you have, I thiught it was a Turkey - LoL
  3. I just heard they are building a new Bass Pro Shop in Foxborough, MA. Yahoooooo - there goes my money!
  4. Loc-Tite I think that's how it's spelled (super glue from walmart)
  5. How does this work? Do you usually rent a guide by the hour or day and about how much are you looking at to rent one. And also where would you even find a guide for one of your local lakes. Thanks
  6. Recreational - It appears sometimes that tournament fishing is a bit more like work and a little less fun plus I'm just not good enough! I would also rather be one of several boats on the water, rather than one of 30.
  7. I also use the method GK has described and I'm amazed how easy it is to remove the hook. I'm all for doing what's best for the fish as I hate to see a fish die because it was gut hooked. I don't know what's best either, but I find it hard to believe that the hook will rust out in a reasonable amount of time.
  8. Keeping in mind I'm a relative beginner here and ask some questions that are obvious to most of you. I always here you should fish points! Why? Thanks
  9. It has been raining here off and on for over a week now. I read a tip about how to fish after and during long periods of rain. They said that during the rain the fish become more active as the water becomes more oxygenated. Especially in the Fall when they are feeding for the winter. Put the soft plastics away and use spinnerbaits and cranks. Also use topwaters if it's not raining at the time. I only caught one fish on spinnerbaits ever! I went to my private pond last Saturday (while it was raining) and used my usual senkos & Ikas. I usually kill them on those but never got a bite. Reluctantly, I tied on a white Terminator spinnerbait. I caught 7 LMB in about 40 minutes, 3 in the 2lb range, which in 40 minutes is some fun fishin! During that time I caught 3 on 3 consecutive casts. Went back again last night for a half hour (in the rain) and got 3 on a black spinnerbait with a Yamamoto twin tail grug as a trailer. Was fishing in water about 4 feet deep parallel to the banks. Give it a try and good luck!
  10. Good Luck with catching the Maine State record - I'm glad I could help a fellow New Englander - I live in central MA. RW has been a huge help to me and I always try what he recommends. I only use Yo-Zuri ultra soft 6lb test on my spinning reels and the Fat Ika is by far my best go to bait. I think most people on this site have a lot of respect for the Roadwarrior!
  11. RW uses 6 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid on a medium/fast spinning rod. The hook is a #1 Gamagatsu Circle Hook. The split shot is a #4 or #5 or whatever it takes to maintain occasional contact with the bottom. Set it up 18 to 24 " from the hook. Bait the hook with the biggest shiners you can buy. Run the hhok through the lower jaw and up through the upper lip, NOT in the head. He must stay alive. He fishes from a boat positioned so you can cast 5' or so from the bank. Cast straight to the bank and fish at no more than a 45 degree angle upstream, never downstream. I asked the same question 2 weeks ago and this was his reply!
  12. This is probably a dumb question but here goes I always here that if you find the baitfish you find the bass. How do you find the baitfish? Sometimes I see a shiner or two, but never big balls of them like some people say. Thanks for your help.
  13. I read somewhere that some people use a jig instead of a weight for drop shotting. I suppose that makes sense - it's like fishing with a jig and drop shotting at the same time. Is that legal and do many of you do that? Thanks
  14. I use to fish senkos about 80% of the time - on a suggestion from RW I tried a Fat Ika - I hardly use senkos anymore. It's by far my most productive bait for LMB. I caught 2 over 6lbs in the last 10 days using it on a very small private pond. Give one a try!
  15. You can buy Tiki Stiks @ K-Mart for less than half the price of Knamis, they look pretty much the same and are much more durable.
  16. I went to one last March in Worcester, MA. G. Swindle, D. Hite, S. Gribsby & J. Houston were some of the speakers. It was informative, but like the others mentioned, alot of it was basic stuff and repetitive. They all try to make it entertaining and joke around alot. I guess I was glad I went. It's a long two days though!
  17. Check out the web site Reb showed - It really works great after a couple tries - also I carry a pair of diagonal cutters that have a long neck - I can cut most of the hook off if necessary.
  18. I fish on mostly two ponds, one has a $7 launch fee and the other is $25 per launch. They only charge from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. It's rather steep, but its a great place and obviously they don't want you there charging that much. My partner and I split the cost, so it's not that bad. If there are any golfers out there - you know how much cheaper that is than a round of golf with a cart. But I agree, it's way to high.
  19. Every time I think I 've seen the most original, bizzare, funny or weird name people pick for this site - another one comes along! LOL
  20. Welcome and Nice name - use to play one of those many years ago.
  21. I was away for a few days and forgot to send something - but it went out this morning! Wouldn't it be great to see a ton of responses here! C'mon guys - It really felt good to help out.
  22. Here's my 2 cents. To fish soft plastics, learn to tie a Palomar knot. It's easy, strong and most of the pros use it. If you can find someone to fish with that has more experience than you it will help a great deal. I started playing much better golf when I played with people better than myself. Now I am learning a lot more about fishing because I fish with a bunch of tournament fisherman.
  23. I just got a pair of Luminator polarized sunglasses. I saw them advertised on TV and took a chance. There are incredible - I had a pair of $15.00 ones and they were useless. These are $39.95 plus shipping. I was amazed how nice they are. You can also try them for 6 weeks and send them back if you don't like them. www.myluminator.com
  24. Are the treble hooks any good on the bomber or do you guys change them and if so, with what kind and size. Thanks!
  25. Better go to work Budget - I think you make the other decision quite a bit - LOL The Patriots will win again this year or they won't
