  1. What do you think would happen if any 2 Pros (say Davey Hite & Gerald Swindle) came to your body of water ( the one you know like the back of your hand and fish all the time). Assuming they had never been there until next Saturday morning when you and your partner fished against them for an 8 hour tournament. I wonder what the outcome would be. Do you think they would win hands down, just because they are professional? Sure would be fun to try!
  2. Grass Pamela Lee or Opra Winfrey
  3. Cajun Red Cast Line says that the red line almost disappears in the water. If the color red disappears so easily in the water, why are we using red worm hooks, red treble hooks and bleeding baits?
  4. Great idea there KU!
  5. I have the exact same problem. I fish a small private pond and catch a ton on Senkos. I'll try something else, but give up too quickly because I know the Senko will catch fish. I'm not complaining because I love to catch LMB no matter what I'm using. But man, I feel your pain! I'm not rich, but I pay the extra for the Senkos because I have so much fun. Suggestion: When the ends get torn, save them for a whacky rig with an O ring. (Extend their usefullness). A close second is the Tiki Stiks from Wave worm. They are less than $3 a pack and are very effective and look just like a Senko with more salt. One other suggestion-You can buy Senko imitations on Ebay usually 50 for about $7. The look the same and are more durable - I just don't know how good they work.
  6. Is the extention cord a heavy enough grade. The longer the ext cord, the heavier it has to be. Mine is 100 feet and I think it cost me $75 because it had to be heavy duty ( I forgot the terminology). I'm not sure that is your problem, just a thought.
  7. Check on Ebay. I got one this Spring new MinnKota Maxum 74lb thrust for under $600. Sometimes you can get lucky.
  8. Wow! I love a story with a happy ending. Continued success!
  9. Largemouth 22 1/2 lbs on a green pumkin 6" senko. Unfortunately I was dreaming at the time.
  10. The above mentioned was suppose to be my behind. I guess it got bleeped out.
  11. I was at a private pond last night and decided to fish near a small bridge. The bridge is about 6 feet across and about 6 feet above the brook below it. There were two 4 X 4's to walk across. I got half way over and they both snapped like twigs (rotten I guess). I fell in the brook below, scraped up pretty good, but didn't break anything except I disagree. d**n that hurt, I can barely sit today! Does that qualify as a deformity?
  12. I have found that the metod described works, but certainly not all the time. I got a pair of diagonal cutters from snap-on tools, long shaft like needle nose pliars that work great to cut the hook. You can cut off 75% of the hook which is better than leaving the entire hook in the fish.
  13. I should have been a bit more clear with my original question, but I just assumed since this is a Bass Fishing Forum and named the Ultimate Bass Fishing Rresource Guide, I was only talking about bass. My original intent was to ask how many casts you guys think you make (on average) to catch a bass, any species of freshwater bass any size in a pond, lake whatever. Sorry for the confusion this caused! Roadwarrior-You are definately one of the most respected people on this forum!
  14. Wow-I just realized how bad I am at fishing! Let's say you fished an 8 hr day (50 casts an hour, 400 for the day) and got no fish, which I've done. If in the next 5 times I went (same senario 400 casts a day over 8 hours) but caught one fish every hour on all 5 trips, that would be 40 fish in 2,000 casts for a grand total over 6 days of 2400 casts for 40 fish or 1 fish every 60 casts. To me that would be great fishing and I've never done that either. I'm afraid my ratio is well over 100 to 1. I think I better go back to golf!
  15. I always use Red Gammies with soft plastics but I really don't know if they help-just my preference. I went to a seminar in March and someone asked Gerald Swindle about the tag end of the knot. His reply was, "If the fish didn't notice the 50' of line attached to your reel, he probably won't care about that other little piece."
  16. I wonder what the approximate ratio is of fish caught per cast. (Obvoiusly this would be an average over a long period of time) Do you think it's one fish for every 100 casts, 200 casts? Just curious what you guys think about this. I know some days it feels like I make 500 casts to catch one fish.
  17. I always take my wide mouth thermos, fill it with boiling water and toss in a few hot dogs. Nothing like a hot lunch out on the boat. Try it sometime, works great!
  18. Warrior-I didn't mean I get a strike 75% of the time. I meant of all the strikes I get, 75% of them are on the initial fall, not on the retrieve.
  19. I usually fish soft plastics and it seems like I get 75% of my strikes seconds after it hits the water, usually on the initial fall. I do catch some on the retrieve, but no where near as many. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time leaving it out there if I don't get a quick strike. How do you guys feel about this.
  20. I fish a small pond all the time under similar conditions. It's very weedy and I almost always have to use something weedless. I have very good luck with a 4" senko weightless and weedless. I use a 2/0 Red EWG Gammy hook. I usually use a green pumkin and sometimes use a 5", but the 4" seems to work better. After a rain, I have had good luck using a white with black specs 4". The only other lure I use is a Fat Ika fished the same way. It's an excellent bait by Yamamoto that the Warrior told me about. I let them both sink to the bottom on slack line and then raise the rod tip and let it settle again. Good Luck!
  21. If you could get enough people to hold a tournament in different parts of the country, you could certainly do it that way. Instead of having one tournament, you could have say 50 all over the country and we could attend the one we lived closest to. Then if you wanted to take it to another level, those 50 winners could meet somewhere to find out the true champion of "Glenn's Excellent Fishing Adventure."
  22. I do the same thing. I have access to a small farm pond that I bring my nephew to. My friend owns the pond and we are the only ones that fish it. I put 6 in last week between 2 and 4 lbs. I caught my biggest fish ever in there 6.5 lbs. They seem to get along just fine, The last thing I would want to do is harm any of those bass.
  23. I fish a 1 acre private pond alot and have great success with bigger lures (like the Warrior said). The average size fish in there is about 1lb, but I caught 2 over 4lbs and a 61/2 in there. I use 5 and 6 inch senkos, 6 inch lizards and a Luckycraft Sammy. I'm also having good luck with one of Warrior's favorite lure - The Fat Ika. Good Luck!

I agree with Gobbledog about the hookset and also about the hook size. I think a 4/0 is to big for a 5" Senko. Usually when I feel a tap tap it's a usually a very small fish and that's why you can't set the hook, he probably just has a small piece of it. Most bass of any size seem to just inhale it. When I feel a little tap tap it's usually crap crap!
  25. Those aren't Senkos, they are knock offs. I bought the 50 pack you are talking about. They look the same but aren't nearly as soft. As a matter of fact, you can stretch them and they won't tear. The salt content isn't the same (if any) either. The one thing I did like about then is they have a slot in them where the hook lays to make it weedless. I bring a lot of friends in my boat and when I'm using real Senkos and they ask me for one, guess what I give them! Oh well, I knew they would come in handy for something.
