  1. Nothing to expensive too be honest I love my ugly stick compared to most rods that I have tried they are cheap and they get the job done. I was thinking about getting a Medium 7 ft Ugly Stick
  2. Also was thinking about purchasing a 7 ft medium spinning rod for one of my spinning reels for my Spinner Baits and Texas Rigged worms? Thoughts??
  3. Thanks for the tips. Also to let everyone know my setup came in today. Then Friday I will be hitting Bass Pro to pick up some jigs and some rage craws.
  4. What do you use for lighting to see?
  5. So I went ahead and for the past few days I have read through all 75 pages of this thread and have gained valuable info from even the time I first posted on here. One question that I can't believe I haven't asked yet because I am the question king on this forum. Haha sorry about that by the way guys, but my question was is what are some tips do you have for night fishing. Setups, what you bring, how you approach night fishing. I have done it once, but this year I would love to do it some more because I know you can catch some pigs at night.
  6. Purchased the BPS Pro Qualifier and a Med/Hev 7'0 Ugly Stick Casting rod total cost was about 120 bucks. Picking up some Rage Craws and some Stanley Jigs next week. Can't wait for the new season gonna have a whole new approach on things going for the Hog this year gotta beat my PB going for the 8lber this year. Also gonna be focusing on my Spinner bait skills along with my Jig skills this season to master them.
  7. I actually was thinking that would be a good choice it has 810 5 star reviews and I was thinking about getting a 7' MH ugly stick rod to go with it. Figured it would be a good setup for me trying to get into the bait casters again.
  8. Was looking into this http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Rod-and-Reel-Baitcast-Combo/product/1209270507094/ Any Suggestions?
  9. Might end up getting a bait caster rig after all anyone have any suggestions on a good setup? for 100 bucks maybe even a good combo.
  10. Also I don't know if it is a saltwater rod as well the metal guides are throwing me off looks like it might be made for offshore stuff.
  11. Yea I was just wondering cause it didn't look like my other spinning rods. Anyone got any recommendations for a spinning reel for it for under 80 bucks? Looking to put about 30-40lb braid on it for a Jig Setup and my Heavy Spinner baits
  12. Well today is a good day haha I found out that My Uncle had given me a 7'0 Medium/Heavy rod awhile ago and I found it so all I have to do is get a reel for it and I'll have a new setup. Also I wanna figure out if I can put a bait caster on this rod I'll post pics in a minute of the rod and I want your opinion and if I can I want to spend roughly around 80 dollars on a bait caster.
  13. Only 1 more day till tax return haha then I'm buying a couple new setups and some jigsssssssss
  14. The actual Rage Craws or the Rage Craw Trailers?
  15. Anyone have good suggestions on trailers for jigs?
  16. Another question I have is last year when I wanted to find deep structure and cover I looked at the shoreline and looked to see if the land jutted out or if it cut in like a cove and what I would do is use my Texas Rig worm with a heavy weight to feel out the bottom for structure and cover. This produced very well for me. Now for a jig I know it is a bottom bait and I have used it briefly not much what are some of your suggestions for fishing it on the bottom as a search bait?
  17. I stand corrected it is actually just a Medium action rod not a Medium-Lite also I use spinning reels. I prefer them over bait-casters for some odd reason do you think this will be fine for say like 3/8 oz jigs? Just so I get some weight so that I can feel the bottom better.
  18. What would you recommend for a jig? Trailer wise and weight wise. My setup is a Medium-Lite 6'0 Ugly Stick with a Mitchell 300ex spinning reel. I have 2 of those setups by the way. Also what kind of cover are you looking for weeds, rocks, timber, because I know in April most cover is rotting or dead and it isn't the best place to fish because it takes oxygen out of the water which is less attracting to the fish.
  19. So I usually start my fishing season the beginning of May because usually I don't have much success during April. This year on the other hand I want to fish the Nashua River and some Small ponds in April. My question is what are your guys tactics in April for getting on some good fish? If you want to know my rig I have a small aluminum canoe with a 35lb thrust trolling motor and up at my camp I have a 12ft aluminum V-hull with a 10HP motor. I also do not have electronics in either rig.
  20. Hey guys I am looking to try out ice fishing as a winter hobby and to see if I'll enjoy it my friend has a bob house and I am going to buy some start up gear, but I wanna know from your guys experiences as to what I should buy and as to what I should look for when fishing.
  21. Also how heavy should I go for a bullet weight on my Texas Rigs if I plan to fish 10-20ft deep?
  22. Hey guys I got a question for you all that use roof racks to transport your fishing boats. As of now my 4x4 SUV **** the bed so I had to get a new car. I bought a 2013 Honda Civic. Being this my old truck I could just throw the canoe right on top and go fish whenever. Well this isn't the case for this car as it is brand new and I don't want to risk scratching or damaging it in anyway. So my question is do any of you have any roof racks that you would recommend for a car that I could put my canoe on and also I would preferably want some that are not permanent so that I can take them off the car when needed.
  23. Northwood gets a lot of pressure in the summer. Sometimes the fishing is great sometimes it sucks. Best places to fish are the deep weeds out around 10-13 ft its not the deepest lake, but if you can find the pockets of cover in that depth you should do pretty well. Places to avoid on that lake are the obvious places such as to the west side of the lake where there is large rock clifs running into the water. If you cruise about 100 yards away from the public beach near the boat ramp there is some good deep weeds over there I have caught multiple big bass over there and my uncle caught his 4lb smallie over there.
  24. Northwood is what lake my camp is on I've been fishing there since I was in diapers my great grandpa holds the lake record of an 8lb 14oz bass. I am also aware of some biggens in the lake as I've seen them jump at dusk my biggest on the lake is a 5lb 7oz Largemouth and my great Uncle caught a 4lb 8oz Smallie on the lake too.
