  1. can anyone steer me in a good direction with this? Just got a house up there and am trying to get the lay of the land. would also want to figure out some good fly fishing spots that are close to that area. Thank you for any of your responses!
  2. once you go 580G you cant go back. and God said "let there be light". He then proceeded to put on his costas
  3. The lake that I go to has 20 two seater boats that have 55lb trolling motors on them. These boats are not able to be permanently modified due to other people using them. My buddy and I are thinking about getting a depthfinder that we can mount on the boat when we get there and take off when we leave. would a transom mount be quick enough to get on and off and not be a hassle, or are there some viable options in the suction cup mounts. I have looked around but wanted to know if you guys had opinions. I am in the 50-150$ range. thanks for any input
  4. I also had a nice fatty hit a spook yesterday as the sun was going down. most fun way to catch them in my opinion. great pics and great bass man!
  5. Nitro, I have never caught a smallie before either. good luck to you!
  6. the fishing from that video is mostly from a lake close to college park off camp creek
  7. this is a video that my buddy made a few years ago and posted to youtube. feel free to check it out. I apologize in advance for the way he matched the video to the music. I just remembered it existed and thought It may inspire people to get back out there and fish as it did to me haha
  8. the color on that first fish is awesome. nice fish paul!
  9. My honest opinion........use what you have the most confidence with. with confidence comes perseverance which leads to success (a bit too deep?)
  10. went out yesterday around 5 to the good old golf course lake in ATL. I haven't been able to go out much this year due to Ga Tech rigor, but summer is here and I am pumped. I caught three decent bass all on a football head jig with a rage craw trailer. These bass were grabbing the jig and RUNNING with it. after detecting the bite, I would set the hook and the bass would already be 5-10 feet from where the bite occured. Good sign of other bass in the region? Caught the 4-5 lb chunk while pitching at a new tree laydown. After catching these bass, I realize that fishing may be my favorite thing to do (good thing my girl friend likes to fish). I have the fever again....hello baitmonkey

  15. i second this. sadly using senkos? fishing with senkos is a blast and always going to catch fish big and small. yeah dinks probably nippin at it. hate those dinks
  16. At the lake where I fish, they supply small boats that run on a 60lb thrust trolling motor (it is a small lake), You aren't able to change the motor or permanently attach anything to the boats, as well as the fact that you won't be receiving the same boat every time. I have been really anxious to find some deeper structure during the summer months using techniques other than getting a heavy jig and feeling around for a stump or a rock pile. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a sonar device ($50-200) that could easily be mounted or suction cupped to the boat and removed after each outing. I would also be possibly using this for my small john boat at my lake house on hartwell. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  17. my buddies use the GYCB flappin hogs for a chunky presentation, but I am with you on this one. Any of the rage craw products are what I use. bass cant seem to get enough of that action
  18. My buddy and I went fishing yesterday and It was a blast. Got on the lake around 6 am, and the bite was on, and it continued all day. Jigs, spinner bait, 10 inch worms, and crankbaits were money. After catching a nice 6 and a 5 on a moving jig, my buddy and I figured they were looking for a moving presentation, so swimming a jig, the crankbait, and the spinnerbait were getting bit. My buddy had been having a pretty good day when we pulled up to his favorite part of the lake where some big girls live. He tosses a 7in senko out and about five minutes later. monster on. drag zipping out and the fish pulling us around for around a minute, the 12 lb line breaks . the line had been frayed and nicked from the rocks in the area. both of us were mad that the fish wasn't boated but even more mad about the fact that a large female probably still had a hook in her. My best of the day went 6lb, 5lb, 4lb 11oz, 4lb, and 2lb 11oz and my buddy had a bunch of three and two lbers. just a great day to enjoy the weather and our great country. and what better way then (than?) bass fishing????? http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee446/guy_fishing/July%203rd/?albumview=slideshow
  19. watermelon with red flake black and blue laminate green pumpkin with red flake red shad smoke/pearl laminate
  20. here is the 5 12 on a jig
  21. i was using a spinning rig for my soft plastics, and yeah i actually did that the other day. had a biggun on (8+) and decided to loosen the drag due to my line being a bit frayed due to the rocky area and how big the fish was. she swam under the boat. took out the line. and got wrapped around a log that was underneath the boat. so i was annoyed with myself about the possibility that me loosening my drag mid fight was a bad idea due to the fact that the only reason she got wrapped around the submerged log was because she took some line out. these big girls are frustrating me haha
  22. Before work, My buddy and I went out to the lake for around two hours. 20% chance of rain = 45 min downpour. We get to the dock right as it begins to rain, and on his first cast he hooks a nice one but the bass shakes the jig. we then head out on the boat. ten minutes later I am swimming my jig and I get a nice hit from about a two pounder. the fish shakes the jig. we then go on a bit of a dry spell until I am swimming my jig again and i get a huge hit. I am not letting another fish spit the jig again, so I get a solid hook set in her. this bass ended up weighing 5 12, but she fought like she was 8-9. not jumping or anything just pulling me around while i held on with my 10lb test (too light?)[ill get a pic of this one up in a few minutes]. We fish around a bit more using senkos and spinnerbaits and some topwaters to no avail. we both catch one dink each and then start heading back to the dock. I cast my wacky rig near the brush adjacent to the boat ramp and WHAM. I get a sweet hookset in and the fight is on (or so I thought) she comes straight to the boat as my buddy is getting the net ready. I have no idea what this bass weighed but it was a possible 8-11lber. such a large weight possibility because all i saw was her big bucket mouth before she dove hard. my drag sticks. the line breaks (and 10lb is too light ive just decided). no one was on the lake so I yelled quite a bit . I guess the moral of the story is keep checking your drag even if you think it is perfect? im still bummed
  23. wow awesome picture!
