Your Worm(S)?
I am bad to throw a 10" power worm in junebug. Like 'em better with the tail dipped chartreuse. This year I am throwing more jigs than anything though.

All lakes have it
I have a map of my local lake and would LOVE to mail it to someone willing to show me some key spots to help me get honed in a little. Maybe circle a few spots and give me some notes of why they should be good and mail it back to me. Any takers???

Experienced Parents...little Help?
I bet if they did studies on it they would find that a kid that got a good spanking a time or two would be a lot more respectful too. They need to be taught that they are responsible for their actions. I DO NOT think spanking is the answer in this case but timeout isn't either. You need to find someone he will talk to and hopefully it is you or your wife.

Favorite Deer Calibre
Is the barrel floated at all or is it tight to the stock?? You can put pieces of a butter bowl lid under the barrel lug to get it free floating and see if that makes any difference. I have a one hole 22-250 that a friend over tightened the barrel and it wouldn't hold a 6 inch group at 100 yards. Floated it as said above and it is the most accurate gun I own.

Favorite Deer Calibre
25-06!! Low recoil with 120 grain bullets and wicked on whitetails. Killed my largest buck ever with a 30-30 contender last year.

Read Them All
I am somewhat in the same place as you. I am really wanting to learn the jig. The more I use it the more I see it as nothing more than a weighted hook. It has surprised me what kind of trash you can throw it in and get it back out of. Have not caught a lot on it but the bite is really slow on my lake right now. Jackpot Thursday 8 guys brought in zero fish in 4 hours. Saturday from 6 to 12 with a 5 fish limit was won with 2 15" fish. I keep 2 other poles to switch around a bit so that every half hour or so I can make a couple casts with something different to make sure I am not missing out on too much. I keep a guy in the back to throw searching baits in hopes of finding the fish also.

??? On Hooks
I have some 5/0 weighted but have not used them. I have noticed that there is a BIG difference in diameter between the 4 and the 5. I will try to post the # on the package later to let you know what I have. It is possible it was just a bad batch so that was my main reason for asking. My dad and I always used gamkatsu, or as he called them d**n I got you's, and it is kind of a sentimental thing to use them. Reminds me of him every time I tie one on.

??? On Hooks
I fish a lot in pretty thick weeds and when I set the hook I am trying to turn the fish to me so I set it hard, maybe too hard. I landed a fish that was less than 3 lbs. and the hook had bent. If I see that one has bent I cut it off so I am sure it was not bent already. A couple of the fish I would guess 6 to 8 lbs. and after about a 10-15 second fight they pull off and the hooks were bent. I think part of it is the braid and the power I try to put in a hookset. My buddy, weighs about 260 and coaches football, set the hook a few weeks ago and a 2 lber flew over the boat and hit the water so he had to turn to that side and reel it back in. I like braid so I will try a heavier gauge wire and possibly the owners.

??? On Hooks
Thanks I will try to find some. I assume superline is for braided type lines. That is probably the info I needed. What about the owners?

??? On Hooks
Lately I have straightened several gamakatsu hooks. Some on hang ups but 3 or 4 on fish that pulled off. I am using 4/0 ewg. I am using braided line and a 7 ft mh rod. Has anyone else done this? Do I need different hooks or to lighten my drag or something? I can bend the hooks back to normal with my hand so I just throw them away cause they seem to weak. I am not criticizing a brand cause I do like these hooks. I have straightened a few jigs out trying to learn to fish them and setting the hook into brush piles instead of fish. Are owner hooks any tougher? I have never tried owner.

My Upcoming Shopping Spree!
You need 2 of everything in case they are hitting it good and a big one breaks the first one off. That is my theory and what I tell my wife anyway.

Bass Or Carp??
Best bait for carp I know of is to make dough balls out of wheaties and strawberry soda.

Need Your Thoughts
They seem to be laying on the slope so it seemed right to try an uphill retrieve if possible. It is steep, probably drops from 7-25 in about 6 feet of horizontal travel. There are a couple of shallower coves nearby with cover for feeding but fishing shallow is not putting enough weight in the boat. Need to catch some bigger fish while the sun is still up. I am always within 1-11/2 lbs. so 1 good kicker would go a long ways. I could follow the channel further out in the lake but this spot seems like a bit of a challenge and I would like to figure it out. Thanks for any and all help and advice.

Need Your Thoughts
Weekly jackpot always won by same guy, just makes it sweeter when I win!! Anyway he is fishing old timber, he knows the exact trees to throw at from fishing here so many years. This weekend was out with the family, so I had no poles with me, and found a bend in a creek channel loaded with fish. Depth finder went off several times indicating large fish. Channel about 20-25 foot deep but the fish are suspended from 8-12 foot and against the side of it. Problem I am having is I wanna pound it with jigs but where it breaks from about a 7 foot depth into the channel is steep and about 8 feet off a rock bluff so that I can't get my boat there to fish uphill. Found no fish on the outside corner of it. Do you try to fish it parallel to the bank or down hill to the fish?? Will throw crankbaits parallel. Just wondering how you guys would try this.

Need Help With Boat Problem
What about vapor lock?? Is it possible that was the problem, especially hearing air leak out when we broke into the carb?? Was out all day today with no trouble so I am back in the saddle for now. No fish caught though cause I took the wife, kids and a tube instead of fishing poles.

Need Help With Boat Problem
Went by his shop and showed him that thrpttle was not working right because of cables so we replaced them. He worked it most of the day and sounded good with water hooked up. I met him at the boat ramp after work. Still ran like crap so I made him take it back to his shop. The floats were stuck in one carb so I was running off of one carb. It was pressurised somehow cause we could hear air escaping when we pulled the carb. Possible it was vapor locked?? The carbs were just cleaned so I don't know. Anyway took it back to the lake and now I am ready to go.

Storing Plastic Worms
I recently bought a tackle bag with 3 boxes or trays in it. If you put them in up and down instead of flat it gives a little extra space and easier access. Anyway it left enough room on one side I could throw my bags of worms in. Wasn't long and I had to throw a box out for more room and about to have to ditch another one. I bought another smaller bag to keep my go to plastics in. Seems like they will always hit a junebug powerbait so the little bag is full of those and toads and jig trailers.

Need Help With Boat Problem
We were at the lake trying to look at it last night. I am going to his shop this morning to see what is going on. I think also he don't know a lot about what he is doing so if I can get help here I may go that route or take it to a better shop. It has an electric fuel pump and I chased it from the tank to the carbs one piece at a time to make sure I had a good fuel flow. The pump just replaces the bulb for priming the lines. My dad was a darn good mechanic and at times like this I really miss him. Will keep you updated and probably have more questions.

Need Help With Boat Problem
I bought a 1978 boat with qa 1978 85 hp evinrude. Have taken it out probably 15 times with no problems then I take it out and it starts and immediately dies twice. My son was starting it so I got in and tried it to no avail. Has good compression (about 120 on each cylinder) and is firing good. Boat shop said clean carbs so i let them do that. First time out I can't get it to run right. Have to keep the warm up lever all the way up and it has absolutely no power, like maybe 3 mph. If you push the throttle on the engine it sounds great and very responsive, if you push the throttle from the drivers seat it dies or barely runs, it also feels stiffer from there than normal. Boat shop thinks timing is not advancing and the engine needs cleaned but I think the throttle cable is hanging and needs replaced. The .boat was used very little in the past year before I bought it. Sorry for the long post but I need some help here. Kind of feel like this shop is trying harder to seperate me from my $$ than to fix it. Thanks for any opinions.

Tourny Info. Se Ok
Sardis can be tough. You don't catch a lot most days but every cast has the potential for a 10 or 12 pound fish. We have been fishing a jackpot every Thursday evening from 5:45 to 9:00, keep your best 3 and biggest bag wins. If interested be at Potato Hills boat ramp or send me a message if you have any questions. Entry is $20 a boat and winner take all unless we have over 10 boats and I think they pay 2 places then. Normally about 6 boats in it.

Se Ok.
Fished a lot with my dad but he has been gone nearly 15 years. Recently took it back up and having a blast. I have sons 2 and 14 and daughters 8 and 12. 8 year old caught a 25 inch 6 pounder that is at the taxidermist. Just bought a 1978 15 foot bass boat and we are trying to wear the bottom off of it so that we can buy a newer one next year. lol Will be looking for help on patterns and techniques shortly. Thanks for any help in advance.
