  1. Had this with a loose ground connection last year. Intermittent t/m work then stop.
  2. Motor guide said connect grounds to same terminal and I was thinking hook negs together with a jumper because someone did that in my old boat between crank and trolling. Why I have no idea. After thinking for a bit I figured it would be better to go to a ground bar. I have not checked but will call a dealer/mechanic next week to see if it is already that way.
  3. Just drove 3 hours for trokar flipping hooks. See tomorrow if it helps.
  4. Was using ewg hooks. Bait looked just like before I threw it. Not really bed fishing our fish are still holding off in about 5-6 foot of water. 7'6 mh rod with 65 lb power pro. Throwing gene larew rattling crawlers. I think my luck is just no good on big fish. lol if you haven't tried this bait u may wanna.
  5. Book that came with new trolling motor says I need a common ground to prevent corrosion and electrolysis and it would improve detail on sonar. I have the cranking battery and 2 more wired for 24 for trolling motor. To do this would I tie all 3 negative terminals together?
  6. Line or plastic showed no teeth marks or fraying and we saw both of the big fish so sure at least those two were bass. I took my daughter back to one of them the next day and it wrapped up and pulled off but she can not set the hook hard enough cause she is a bit small.
  7. This weekend a friend and I fished a tourney. Anyway we had 6-8 hook sets that were solid and then the fish would spit it out after a couple of seconds. The hook was still inside the plastic when we pulled it in the boat. Two of the fish were easily 7-8 lb fish and the others 3-5 lbers. Plastic was skin hooked and we were setting plenty hard. Were they maybe clamping in their mouths or what. 4/0 hooks 3/8 bullet weights and 4 inch creature baits.
  8. Sent you a private message. Good luck.
  9. So even with the 12/24 plug in being at the front you would recommend running new wiring and connecting batteries together? I can do it but would be much easier to use plug if it is safe and not a fire hazard.
  10. Bought a 90 model champion and going to replace trolling motor. It has a 12/24 evinrude and want to replace with a 24 volt Minn Kota. Motor I have now is hooked up to 3 wires coming through deck. Can I wire straight 24 to these or maybe buy the plug that will fit the female plug at front of boat. Or will I need to run heavier wire to front and hook trolling batteries together? What is the best way to do this change?
  11. I live within 5 miles of Sardis. It can be tough and I would recommend a boat. Lot of good water around mcalester. Bought a boat there last week and where we were test driving the guy showed me where several 9-10 pounders were caught. Ask a local to show you where the old number 2 landing is at. Eufaula is within a half hour too.
  12. A couple of my buddies caught 6 last Sunday. All were pretty decent fish, up to about 40#, and they let 3 or 4 get away. Also saw a guy that caught a 34 and a 38 from the same hole a couple weeks ago.
  13. I just purchased 3 new rods. 2 Veritas in 7'3" and 7'6" and a carbonlite in 7'. One thing I can say is they seem to allow me to throw about twice as far as a 7' lightning rod and I think that is an advantage with a crankbait.
  14. Too many friends in this tournament and I am worrying too much about someone getting mad. I have decided to let the boater go where he wants and I am just there to fish and enjoy myself. I think for either of us to camp on it all day would be stupid because there are weigh-ins every hour. This is my first tournament bigger than a 10 boat jackpot and I am not gonna let this stress me out. I want to enjoy it not fight with friends. We are planning to launch at 4:30 though. : )
  15. You can launch anytime but no wet hooks until 6. Winners subject to polygraph test.
  16. Braid on all rods now. Hung it on the only pole with mono.
  17. We have a big bass tournament this weekend with hourly payouts and biggest for 2 days wins a big pot. A buddy of mine has mentioned a couple times he knows where there is a fish big enough to win it, over 10 easy he said, that broke off on him 3 weeks ago. He has left her alone for the tournament. He is not going to fish now but his son is who is a friend of mine too. Anyway last weekend I hung a monster that wrapped up and broke off. I was telling the guy about it, not where but he knows the area we fish. About 30 minutes later my partner calls and tells me the guy came by and told him where his fish was and it is on the exact same laydown. Tournament is first man there gets the spot and we were planning to be there an hour before start time so we would be the first there. Now that I know he planned to fish it I don't know. The cast after I broke off hooked about a 5 lb'er and then we pulled out. He knows the lake a lot better and knows where other big fish are and I don't. So do I beat him there since I found the fish without help or stay out of it. And I am in another guys boat so it is up to him but want some opinions.
  18. I have been trying to get my partner to leave the grass cause I know there has to be something better. I found 2 grass beds about 100 yards apart, one an island and the other a hump, with an old roadbed connecting them. What I think will be good is it iis 4 foot deep and the outside edge of the road drops straight off to 6 then slopes to 10. There is also an old pond about 50yards away. I hope to try it in the morning. Should be a travel route between feeding places and access to deeper water I think. I am still pretty dumb on structure but trying.
  19. Depends if I am fishing a jackpot or tournament or just fishing for fun. I am still trying to break 9 lbs. so on fun days that is what I want but on jackpot evenings all I want is for them to be over 14" and then worry about culling. I have nearly fell out of the boat trying to net 2 lb'ers for my partner. lol
  20. How much fun will it be to grow old alone wondering if anyone cares about you??? You say as long as you have money you can date younger women in which case you can grow old and still wonder if anyone cares about you and who is with your young girlfriend while you are out fishing. I have 4 children and stay broke but could not be happier with life. I know where every wrinkle on my wife came from because I caused most of them. lol
  21. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/species/greensunfish Same website you used for the warmouth Bluebasser86. Notice other names for green sunfish. Perhaps it is not a warmouth, never heard of those until today myself, but to me it is indeed a goggle eye.
  22. charge on either one, makes no difference. If you can hook to it to get power out you can put power back in the same way.
  23. Just a heads up for you guys but at the boat ramp yesterday a couple guys there had a 38 lb'er they noodled. It is time to start checking holes it sounds like. In se Oklahoma it is getting there anyway.
  24. That is a goggle eye. I googled it and they are also called warmouth. They have a bigger mouth than other perch and are thicker bodied. If I am catching perch for the table this is the kind I want because of them being thicker and meatier. When we use them around here for bait we either hook them live in the back or peel them. To peel them cut off the fins and then the head and you can then pinch the skin between your knife blade and thumb and peel it right off leaving a nice bright white fresh bait for flatheads and blues.
