Physics Of Fishing
Yes, but in a layman's context. When selecting a rod; choosing a line for a specific application; when using different types of baits; when operating the boat and you have to make a curve in the river; when you blast off; when you slow down and approach a fishing location trying to avoid having the waves rock the boat when you get to it; and other different things that we encounter while fishing and getting ready to fish. We all go through physics without even knowing it. Great post.

New Orleans Top Wise Guy To Marcello Family Is Killed
From Matthew Randazzo: "It is with a sad heart that I must confirm that Kent "Frenchy" Brouillette, the legendary New Orleans character immortalized in MR. NEW ORLEANS, has been murdered. He was one of the most original, charming, and fascinating figures in New Orleans history, and, he was always a true friend to me and my family. I will be putting together a celebration of the good in Frenchy's life sometime after 12/14. Anyone with information regarding Frenchy's demise should contact the New Orleans Police Department's Homicide Unit." Frenchy is one person you would never forget if you had met him. Great personality and some very funny stories about the mob and the French Quarter. He knew all of the players in the President Kennedy assassination and he told me that the mob hit the wrong guy. They told him that they should have hit Bobby and not Jack. I was very luck to have met Frenchy and heard his mob stories. RIP, Frenchy.

Fuel Gauge
Ski, please consider the Power Squadron's recommendation regarding fuel: One-third of the tank going out. One-third of the tank coming in. One-third of the tank in reserve. Now you have to estimate each level of fuel and mark the gauge with a Sharpie for each third.

Pepsi's first prank with Jeff Gordon driving a car at a high speed was criticized on the Internet to be a fake. So, to prove the critics wrong, they did another one. This time the victim is with one of the most critical journalists that wrote about their first prank. This is a must watch. Enjoy! http://1funny.com/pepsi-max-test-drive-2/

Nope. Heard nothing. And if Mullen leaves MSU we could have another SEC opening.

The Holiday
X2 back at ya! This time of the year can be very stressful. One has to roll with the punches and be on their best behavior around friends and relatives. A smile goes a long way as long as it is sincere. We be nice and others will be nice back at us. Just remember, you only have to put up with some of the more worrisome friends and relatives on one or two days. The rest of the year is "goofy people" free time.

Road, rumor mill has Saban going to the Indy Colts. With Smart now at Georgia and a few openings to entice Kiffin, who knows if Saban will move back to the pros. I doubt it but who knows???

Sentenced
Once again, it highlights the fact that we are sitting ducks at the ramp and on the water. How many of us actually carry a sidearm? Very few as we are peace loving guys and gals who love to fish and do not think we are in danger at any time. We have to rethink the sidearm philosophy. This is a senseless crime, as stated above. One life lost and another destroyed by serving time. Sad state of affairs.

Where To Fish Deep For Cold Water Bass
Bass will hold in the deepest water possible in cold water. You have to fish on the bottom very s l o w. Really slow. Throw your jig - Let it sink to the bottom - Let it sit - And sit - And sit - and then move it a little. Current will make the bait move in a natural manner. Do this with other baits you may throw. And yes, you look for drop offs from shallow to deep water. The bass will go into shallow water when the sun is out to sun themselves and enjoy the warmer water, be in a degree or two warmer at the surface. Remember, to fish s l o w. Good luck.

Miles stays at LSU. Richt leaves Georgia. VaTech grabs the Houston coach. Probably a dozen college head coaching positions will be open. Will be interesting to see who goes where and if any college coaches head to the NFL. So who do you think is going where???

Iron Bowl
Fish, I would not worry about LSU. The Fighting Tigers creamed TA&M. As for Bama, remember the past two post seasons and how bad those games turned out for the Bama faithful? So you think Saban can take the team all the way this year? As an SEC fan I hope so. The National Title trophy belongs in the SEC. But history is not on the Tide's side. Florida is weak but Oklahoma, Kelpsom and the other team in the playoffs will give the Tide all they can handle. It will be fun to see how far the SEC can go this year in the playoffs. Stay tuned.

How Do You Take Care Of Your Reels?
Don't: Step on it; Sit on it; Knock it overboard. Do: Have it professionally serviced at the end of each season; keep in house; take all pressure off drag and spool; remove all line. Congrats on your purchase. May you have many years of wonderful fishing with it.

Loading the boat in driveway at home to go fishing. Rods in and up against the boat. Plastics all over the front platform. Neighbor comes over and asks me if I am going fishing? Now, I could have been nasty or I could have been nice. I was nice and answered "yes." He smiled and went back home.

Cold Weather Essentials
Please consider the blue plastic gloves the doctors use I their practice and in the hospitals. You can get them at a pharmacy. they need to be the "blue" ones, not the skimpy white ones. And no powder. Wear the gloves on our hands to keep them dry and warm. You can wear regular gloves or the ones with the short fingers. Just a crazy suggestion.

Cold Water River Bass Fishing? Tips?
Monofilament absorbs water so freezing temperatures can have a negative impact on mono. Your rod guides can freeze up so use an oil based spray to keep the ice off of them. Flouro may get somewhat stiff but you can still fish it. In the river the bass will still hold to structure although they may be deeper some days. If you have a sunny day the bass will go to the rocks and shallows to enjoy the warmer water. But they will not stray too far from their "home" structure area. Since it is cold the bass do not want to exert much energy to capture a meal. So you fish slow and cast to all cover and structure you can find. Jerkbaits are good if the water is clear and the bass can see the jerkbaits. Fish the jerkbaits, slow. A "bulky" plastic or jig may work. Don't forget your hair jigs. They work well in cold water. Lipless crankbaits on a 5:1 reel may be your ticket, too. Have fun and be sure to alert family members where you will be and at what time you will be home. Remember your needle nose pliers, too.
