Suicide Is Easy To Prevent.

Recommended Posts

If someone says something about them wanting to kill themselves or hurt themselves, no matter how awkward it might be, you have to tell someone so they can get help. Idk why I'm posting this, just a psa I guess lol...

My cousin Santiago never said anything about wanting to hurt himself for what I know, one day my other cousin ( his brother ) found him hanged from the shower in the bathroom. Pretty sad and for me was a severe punch to me, I really loved the kid, the age difference between I and him was so great that he could have been my son.

I lost a co worker(diabetic) to binge drinking. He was out of work for a week. Then it was over. We all knew what was going on but legally the company couldn't offer help they could sue

I've seen this happen a few times. On another job in the 80's they have one guy three chances even sent him to get sober on the companies dime. Ended up firing him.

Life is short why push the end it comes so fast naturally.

No matter how bad it is, it doesn't seem that bad to other people.

An interest in suicide doesn't last long.

I have had countless friends and family lost to suicide. My childhood sweetheart and later exwife took her own life after trying countless times..we all knew what was gonna happen but you cant be with someone 100%of the time. My current wifes father just a couple years ago, 61 years old..no warning, just found him one morning. My best friend thru the teen and early 20s..never a warning, and I would have known, we were like brothers. Sometimes there are signs but many times there are not.

A couple of close friends have chosen to do this.

So many struggled to reason why.

It's been said that people who die by suicide, don't want to end their lives, they want to end their pain.

But suicide doesn't end the pain. It just gives it to someone else.

And that is often the purpose for committing suicide, to hurt another.

My brother never showed any signs of trouble either.

Great post the week before Thanksgiving.

We all have demons in our minds, they can take you to very dark places, it's up to you to break free and walk into the light.

I had two cousins (brothers) take their lives many years ago.  I can't understand how things could ever get that bad.  There are so many options for help.

Quite sad, but unfortunately this is the reality that we live in today.

It's something I get to deal with far too often because of the stresses of my line of work. With the way things are today, with officer's being demonized, I'm sure it will just get that much worse.

Good message, terrible title.

Well sometimes it comes out of nowhere, but most of the time it is easy to prevent because a person just needs someone to talk to and alittle help...

I mean what do I know, I'm just an 18 year old kid but thats what I think atleast, sorry if the title offended you...

I don't get offended and I haven't had to deal with this on a personal level.  Someone who is dealing with the loss of a loved one might take exception to you saying it is easy to prevent, when you clearly don't know anything about it.

Yes if it were easy to prevent there would be far less of us losing loved ones. It is offensive to suggest otherwise.

It's not easy for the ones who really want to commit. Think about it, the ones that do are serious and they achieve their goals. Many others are looking for the attention like cutters, emos, etc. Even narcissists pretend to be serious yet that's an oxymoron.

Yeah... I'm sorry guys, didn't mean to offend people and upset anyone. That wasn't my intention, I apologize.

A long term solution to a temporary problem.

It's not always temporary...many people suffer from severe depression and anxiety their whole lives.

As mentioned before in this thread...many people who take their own lives want the pain to end...not necessarily their lives.

This is the type of topic / thread that often times stirs some very deep emotions.

This often results in :computer-18:

and then this ~ :fencing:

and finally (hopefully) this :sorry:

I'm out.

Your intent was honorable. As mentioned it is a very emotional and painful topic for many of us. Peace.

Depression is anger turned inward. There is so much in life to enjoy. Why give it all up so soon. You have so much to live for. Get help don't wait. Call the hot line in your area.

So not true Bill.

You're absolutely right. Simple platitudes explaining mental illness are offensive, and just wrong on so many levels. Like A-Jay I'm done here.
