Yes. LSU got outcoached, outplayed and out hustled against Arkansas and Alabama. Saints got taken apart by the Deadskins. And Toolame won. Not a good football weekend. Only good news is the Drudge Report that reports that Satan is heading to the Indy Colts at the end of this season. I don't believe it but I know a few guys who say it is a done deal. My buddy is trying to get me to go the LSU-A&M game but I told him I don't want to waste my money on such a terrible LSU team. Now to pull for Bamasucs to win it all to bring the National Championship back to the SEC where it belongs. But for the past two seasons Bamasucs has laid eggs in their post season games. Time for Satan to get the team excited about playing in the post season before he goes to the Colts. Hey, you know it is bad when the LSU people are excited about basketball.

Leonidas, there are no restaurants around Meadow Park. If I recall, I think food is sold inside the building.is The BBQ place you remember is still there but it is not by Green Top's new location. I have no idea if there is a BBQ restaurant by the new Green Top location. I know there is a pizza place and other restaurants in the area. I go to the Expo on Friday, before the Saturday crush, unless there is a presentation I want to attend on Saturday. Check out Green Top's new location and where the Meadow Park is located, about a mile east of Kings Dominion. I think you will like the new Green Top location (old Gander Mountain building) and of course, the BPS off exit 89. Have a safe trip.

Hey guys, I want to add to this thread. When the bass pull off of an area where they have been holding they move to deeper water. For the most part, they do not swim one, two or more miles up and down the bank. For the most part, they are in deeper water off the bank. Studies have shown that bass are not totally alike. Some bass will swim in their own "milk run" of one or two miles; others will hang around an area. If you think the bass should be holding to some structure and you don't get a bite, pull back and fish deeper. Maybe yes and maybe no, but the bass are still in the area with the structure.

The fall line is not the saltwater line. On the James River its all the way down to a line from Hog Island to Williamsburg. - Correct. And you do not need a saltwater license if you are fishing in the Historic James River, Rappahannock, Pamunkey, Mattaponi and Potomac rivers for largemouth bass in tidal brackish waters. Just don't put any saltwater species in your live well or cooler. If you are caught with a saltwater species and do not have the saltwater license you will be fined. Remember the VG&IF guys sit in their boats and watch you from a distance via their binoculars. I have heard stories of the conservation officers accusing someone of keeping a saltwater species that was actually thrown back. Not a nice encounter to say the least. The reason you need a trout stamp in addition to your Virginia fishing license is that the conservation officers have a difficult time determining if you are catching trout, either by accident or design. So to stop the practice of giving tickets to those without either the stamp or license and having you appear in court to prosecute your defense it is easier on all to have you carry both the license and stamp. The major problem in Virginia is that the local county, town and city courts love the court costs and fines as it is easy income. Play it safe.

Yes, they are territorial as noted above. When you pull one out of a structure another one will take its place.

As HoosierHog writes, the bass will hold tight to "cover" in heavily stained to muddy water. So pitching and flipping a black and blue jig will get their attention as will a black based plastic thrown to and against any "structure" you can find. Bright yellow and orange can also attract their attention, so consider tipping your plastics with JJ's Magic to add a dash of color. For moving baits, the vibrations will alert the bass the lure is close by and the bass will then try to find it via sight. If the moving bait is close enough and the bass feels secure in leaving their place of comfort they will attack the bait our of hunger or aggravation. Fishing in heavily stained or muddy water is done slowly so don't think you are going to get a bite on each cast. You have to cast to any structure you can see or know is below the water many times.

Surgery is easy. They knock you out! It is the recovery that will kill you. Shoulder surgery is one of the most detailed surgeries that can be performed. Swabby, first, thanks for your career service. It is guys like you that keep us safe. And remember, if you don't protect what is dear to your heart you will lose it. Just ask France. Now, about fishing in the greater Tidewater areas: Get the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries' Freshwater Fishing in Virginia booklet while they last and look up your area. It is free and you can find them at Wal-Mart, Bass Pro Shop across the hole in the water and local tackle shops. You will find a lot of places to fish in your area and around the state. But here is another suggestion for your consideration: Join a local BASS or FWL fishing club and go as a nonboater I their tournaments. You will learn where to launch your boat; fish different bodies of water; discuss techniques and baits with club members; and learn about Virginia waters. I don't know if you have encountered tidal rivers, which are a beast within themselves. If so, you know how to attack them. If not, the guys in the bass club will show you. Do not limit your self to the Tidewater area. Head west and fish the Historic James River, Mattaponi, Rappahannock, , Chickahominy, Pamunkey, Appomattox and other rivers. Lakes can include Lake Chesdin, Chickahominy Lake and One Fish Anna. Have fun; be safe; and post some pics of your catches. Welcome home.

Tander, I take mine off my Ranger and store them in my man cave at home. I do not want the elements to have any impact on the electronics. I do not have to worry about anyone stealing them. I put them on the back floor of the SUV when trailering the boat to and from the ramp and install them at the ramp, on the roadbed. Do not install them over water. One false move and they are at the bottom of the bayou and you will look like you are a Toolame alumni. Ring that bell once you have them installed at the dock!!!!

Just take your cow bell with you when you go bass fishing and ring it every time you catch a bass. You will wear out that bell using the knowledge you will gain on this Forum. Depends on the conditions. I like fluorocarbon line in clear to stained water. Braid in dirty water. Will tie on a fluorocarbon leader to the braid if the water is not too dirty but heavy stained. Also depends if you are using a spinning rig or a baitcaster. I use spinning gear. If you use a baitcaster you will want to stay with the fluorocarbon line. And it depends on the type of structure and bottom I am fishing which has a direct impact on damaging the line.

We had a great time at Cosby High School in Midlothian, Virginia today. 30 vets from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam and the Persian Gulf attended the event. We sat in the students' seats and when the kids arrived they were in shock that some old geezers were sitting in their seats. But we all had a great time and we met some wonderful students. I brought my Viet Cong flag for show and tell. In the photo is the duce and a half (2.5 ton truck) that a vet had purchased and he brought it for his show and tell. Those exhaust fumes brought back a lot of memories. All had a great time and it was fun interacting with teenagers one on one. Thanks to all who served and for those who did not serve but supported our troops.

Very upsetting when we lose a good, young man. Words cannot communicate properly at these times. He was way too young to leave us. Hope his family can continue on their life's path after this very sad situation.
