  1. I've got a DX745 it's amazing. Spent way to much on it, but it's pretty much the only rod I use these days.
  2. What up guys. I'm looking to buy the new Revo Toro S, or splurge and buy a Revo Toro Beast. I know that Abu makes good stuff from experience and since I have a NaCl I use regularly. The Toro S only has 4+1 bearings and the Beast has 7+1 (NaCl has 6+1). Is the Toro S not gonna be that smooth? I've never used a reel with less than 10 (I'm a Lew's addict). The Lew's are a bit smoother than my NaCl, but with only 4+1 am I going to be getting a decent reel? I thought I understood the concept of the bearings, perhaps not.
  3. I've used a double uni most of the time, only breaks when I get snagged and just pull on the line as a last ditch effort to get it unsnagged.
  4. I've heard vertically jigging a buzzbait can really kill them in post frontal conditions.
  5. So you wacky rigged some senkos on an Alabama rig, and tied it ala dropshot...?
  6. So I went to my local pond today, definitely a finesse pond, saw a butt load of minnows hanging around. What would I throw to mimic those? All I can think of is a really small fluke or specifically the Jackall clone frys from my local Dicks. What's a finese presentation that mimics smaller minnows?
  7. I went back out tonight, there was lots of action, but not a lot of attention on my frog, womp. I had two on tonight, and I lost both of them, I had them on for about 2 seconds, and the hook would fly out the moment they comeback to the surface.
  8. I'm using a yellow and black spro bronzeye. Considering they werent violent strikes, I'm guessing they were just smaller fish. So should I just throw a smaller frog then?
  9. When I was in high school, I snuck on to a golf course to night fish. Ran into a guy diving for golf balls. Scared the daylights out of me, we both thought we were in trouble haha
  10. Hey y'all, Looking to get two new reels in 6:1. 1) What's the difference between the STX and the SX? 2) How does the STX compare to a Flooger Supreme XT? *Using them for Spinnerbaits and Squarebills if ya wanted to know*
  11. Line has more to do with what you are throwing. I back with 30lb braid.
  12. Medium or Medium heavy with a fast action. About 7 feet is good. And graphite, glass is good for deep/open water.
  13. I went out earlier tonight and had one fish on and about 6 hits. I tried slowing down my retrieve but they still didn't connect. What gives? I don't think I can change my presentation that much, it's frogging at night...
  14. What size hooks do you guys use for beavers? I honestly feel like they're never big enough lol. Also how many fish do your beavers last? I went through one after 3 fish and a snag, that normal?
  15. Thanks guys. I put my deposit in today, and I'll take the class in about two weeks. Looking to get any bike for cheap at this point. Want all the confidence before I invest.
  16. I have a 5:1, but I'm planning on getting a 6:1. Since you fish squarebills in shallow water, you might want the speed so you can get the fish out of the sticks faster.
  17. How do y'all start riding? I'd like to get started, idk where to start, so I signed up for a safety course through my local university. Idk how you can learn to pass the test without a license, same as a car?
  18. Dobyns Champion 734/5 with a Lew's Tournament Pro 6.3:1 and Seaguar Red Label in 14lb test.
  19. Champion is miles ahead of the Savvy. Especially if you can get a deal on it!
  20. I haven't had mine for long, but it hasn't given me trouble. I think that'd be a good rod for frogs.
  21. I use a MH/F. I think a softer tip is critical since the stiffer it is, the more of the blades you feel (Yeah, there can be too much of that.)
  22. My lord. What reel is that? That's the lowest ratio I've ever seen, by a long shot too.
  23. I don't have a lot of experience with throwing it, but I've asked this before. You'll definitely want a H or MH, depending on size as gulfcaptain said. I know a lot of guys go for the moderate action, and I can see why, as can gulfcaptain. I can't see why you wouldn't want the longest rod possible, unless you are throwing it in tight spots (wondering when that'd happen). So go pick up a big old swimbait rod on the FleaMarket page.
  24. I've used black and white, and a natural color.
