Kayaks
J Francho you stated earlier in the year that if you were to buy a kayak it would be the Commander 14. Can you give the reasons why and compare it to the Coosa? Trying to learn as much as possible before buying one. Thanks, Mike

Help Choosing Pflueger Supreme Xt Size
If it's between reel sizes I always go with the bigger reel. +1 to filling the reel with cheap line and then tying your good line. Mike

Uh Oh May Have Joined The Posse
A Curado 201E7 followed me home today to join a Citica 201D and a Curado 301DSV to form my own little Shimano posse. $61.97 was the total. I love my round Abus, but the first time I casted my Citica, I backlashed soooo badly. I never expected a reel to rocket a lure like that. Mike

Sounds good, wouldn't mind hitting some new water. Let me know what days are best for you and I will check with the Boss. Work during the day so it will have to be in the evening. Of course weekends are open. Mike

Southwestern Pa
Thanks for the info, I may have to give it a shot this week. Hopefully, I can get a free evening after work this week. Do you fish any of the rivers in the area? I hear Chartiers Creek is pretty good for smallies, but another water that I haven't fished. Mike

Southwestern Pa
I've heard people talk about it, but never heard it named. Is it open to the public to fish? Mike

Never heard of Densmore d**n. I caught a 42" muskie out of Raccoon a few years ago. Haven't seen any muskie action the last two or three years. Where is Densmore d**n? Mike

Good to hear from you. Ever fish Raccoon? That is probably my main lake. Glad to hear you are doing well fishing. Glad to see someone from the area on the site. Good luck the rest of the season and welcome to the site. Mike

Baitcaster Casting Problems
Old post but still being read so I will add some pointers on how I learned. I started with Abu C3s so I did not have magnetic brakes. Read the manual and then read it again. Set your baitcaster as they explain in the manual. Spool it with 20-30 pound test cheap mono when first practicing. It will be easier to fix the back lashes. Second put tape on the spool after pulling out a little more line than you can cast. This will stop the big backlashes. Start casting with a heavy weight to get the feel of stopping the line. I also think starting with a moderate rod action will help. Also, leave a little extra line habging before the cast and use two hands for better control. Good luck and keep practicing. Mike

Arbogast Jitterbugs
Most definitely, love the Jitterbug. Mike

Death Shimmer Spinnerbaits
I am going to have to give mine another shot. I fished it once and was not impressed with the vibration. Although mine is a willow, the vibration is supposed to come from the arm. I will try again and report back on the results. Mike

Just Getting Started
Welcome. If you are going to bank fish until dark, ya' gotta throw a black Jitterbug. Just reel it in very slowly. Good luck. Mike

The Great Chowder Debate
New England clam chowder is the ONLY kind. Anyone ever been to the Black rose in Boston and have it in the giant bread bowl? Now that;s eatin'.

I Am Clue-Less
The lures seem to all make sense for a river. With that being said, unless you know specific spots to fish, it may be slow going to start searching with those baits. I would start with the buzzbait or a crankbait. Of course if it is a pool/riffle river, something smaller that isn't controlled by a dam, it is easier to find the "spots". If there are riffles try running a buzzbait through the deeper slower parts of the riffle. It is hard to say without more details of the water. Also, I would try a zara spook if the buzzbait does not get bit. Mike

What Do You Carry?
I use an old turkey vest that has big pockets that can hold some plano boxes and bags of plastics, and a Glock 26, Mike

Bow Fishing.... Is It Ethical?
I think the point I was making was missed. People said they don't believe that killing fish is ethical if they are not going to be eaten. I was bringing up the fact that not all bass released survive either. So what then is the difference in shooting a carp that isn't going to be eaten or catching and releasing 50 bass in a day, knowing that a certain number of those bass will die. Mike

Bow Fishing.... Is It Ethical?
Why is bowfishing for carp when they are not to be eaten wrong? I hope noone is naive enough to believe that all the bass you caught and released survived. This is really not to make anyone mad, but to realize that fighting within the sporting ranks is just what they want. If you don't know who "they" are then we are in real trouble. Mike
