  1. Just keep telling yourself that spending $60 at BPS is a lot. Before you know it you will have a day like me and walk out of there wondering exactly how you just spent $300-400.
  2. Okay, here is what happened to me. My dentist decided that they should come out, and told me it was a pretty quick and painless process, so I let him do it instead of going to an oral surgeon. They decided to do all 4 of them at the same time. The pulled the two on top without much problem although they quickly learned that I'm a bleeder. However, when they started on the bottom two they quickly figured out that the roots had curled up like fish hooks. If they pulled them straight out it would have torn up my lower jaw and caused nerve damage. Instead of quitting right then and referring me for surgery, they decided to take both of the lower teeth out in 4 pieces each. So for the next 3 hours (as I'm awake the whole time) they proceeded to drill, chisel, yank and hammer them out. My mouth and jaw were visably bruised, I bled for 3 days, and was sore for 2 weeks. Glad things went better for you.
  3. It's an ugly stick? Equal those 200 dollar rods? How many nice rods have you ever fished with?
  4. I've used the red crawfish pattern and I really like the way this lure looks and runs in the water. The "head" area has a wider flat spot than other lipless cranks I have used so it seems to have a little bit wider wobble. I like it so far, but I've only thrown it for about 2-3 weeks.
  5. Stroz- I will be happy to tell you my experience.....AFTER you have yours removed. Please tell me you are going to an oral surgeon, and not to your regular dentists office. I made that mistake.
  6. Where did you say you lived? Um...which Wal Mart was that?
  7. I am in the process of switching over to all Fenwick rods. I have 3 Techna AV's and for the money they are the best rods I have used. I fish with a guy who only uses GLoomis GLX rods now, and he says the Techna AV is as sensitive as his GLX's, and it's just about as light. It doesn't have the lifetime warranty of a Loomis, but it's half the price of a GLX. I've heard good things about the Avid and the two St C's I've owned were both good rods. I have no experience with Shimano rods, but I sure do love their reels. I guess what I'm saying is I would highly recommend the Fenwick Techna AV. Best rod for the money in my opinion.
  8. I guess I can understand why you feel that way. If I were fishing for the size fish that you chase out there in Cali I might be the same way. I guess the hooks on LC's work fine for the 3-6 lbs dinks we get to chase here in the midwest.
  9. I would recommend the Bass Pro Shops trophy bass game. The Rapala game is okay, but on it you can only fish with rapala crankbaits, and you have to fish for walleye, salmon, etc. not just bass.
  10. I'm a little different in the fact that I think #2's are to big for rattle traps. I usually go with #4 size treble hooks on the front of the traps(preferrable red one's), and I put #6 size on the back. I've been using the Mustad Ultra points, but Gammy, Owner, or VMC all make fine hooks. To change them you bascially take the hooks off and put new one's on just like you would take a key of/on a key ring.
  11. IF you don't mind me asking, what type of treble hooks do you switch too? I've had good luck with the hooks on the LC's. I usually switch out trebles on rattle traps with Mustad Ultra Point hooks #4 on the front, and #6 on the back.
  12. Amen to that. I spent 2 hours yesterday replacing treble hooks on my assorted lipless cranks.
  13. I recently bought a Quantam PT. Fished with it twice and then took it back and exchanged it for a Shimano. The Curado is one of the best reels on the market, and I doubt you would regret buying it.
  14. I agree with the majority, however for your baitcaster I would recommend you also consider Seaguar flourocarbon as well.
  15. I've always enjoyed comedy movies such as Space Balls, Christmas Vacation, Three Amigos, etc. I've yet to really get into the "new comedy" such as Jackass, Borat, etc. I don't really find the fun in other peoples pain or in degrading others, and instead find those more annoying than anything.
  16. My two main fishing buddies have both gone almost exclusively to Pinnacle reels. One of them has all Matrix II which I believe may be their top reel. He has them all mounted on Loomis rods. My other buddy has an assortment of Vision, Solene, and Inertias and he swears by them. The biggest problem they have is trying to find someone to service those reels. The best they have come up with is a guy in Georgia, and that's about the only service person they have found. If you don't plan on sending the reel in to be cleaned, lubed, etc on a regular basis then I would say that you should buy the reel, and I think you will be satisfied with it.
  17. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my......okay deep breathes, he didn't mean it, he didn't mean it. This is just a bad dream. You're going to wake up and check all your reels, and everything will be just fine.
  18. 6# Yo Zuri Ultrasoft and a 2500 size reel are a perfect match.
  19. I was just down there 2 weeks ago, and the biggest fish we saw/heard caught while we were there were on 1/2 oz red rattle trap(with a chartruese belly), and another guy caught a 9+ and a 10+ less than an hour apart using a suspending rogue. We also saw a 7+ caught on a junebug colored 7" power worm. Most of the fish we caught while there were on a white booyah boogie bait (chatterbait) with the trailer tails dipped in red spike it.

Do you guys really think Cro Cop would beat Randy? I agree that he probably has a better all around skill set, but he also seems to have crapped his pants everytime he gets a shot at the belt in Pride. I'm not sure how much you guys follow Pride.
  21. For the price you are looking to spend I would recommend the Fenwick HMX, or a St. Croix Premier.
  22. Where's Nicky2Times? I dated her in college. No wait, that was Nicole the 2 Timer..... Nevermind.
  23. The way I usually go about determining color is this: In clear water I go with natural looking colors. Chrome and blue or black, baby bass, shad colors, green pumpkin, watermelon. In stained or muddy water I go with black and junebug, or really bright colors like chartruese or firetiger. Either the 2 1/4 or 3 would be fine for what you are doing. Bass are predators who will attack baits of any size. You may scare off a few of the smaller fish with a 3", but who wants to catch smaller fish anyway.
  24. I guess that just depends on how comfy you are fishing around timber. My buddy while we were there had one fish hooked up on 10# Seaguar floro (on spinning tackle) take him around a stump and the line snapped. Most of the fishing you will probably do I'm guessing will either be fishing over grass flats or on beds. I would recommend that you have at least on rod set up with 12-14 lb line or with braid for fishing in and around stumps.
  25. Why is that??? This is not my experience, a heavy rod with a reel that has a locked down drag is just that, locked down. Line will break before reel's drag will fail. I have been fishing a lake with very little flip/pitch terrain. I use spinning gear there 95% of the time with NO issues. Baitcasters come with me to places like Fork but not the home lake. Very clear water where the long cast makes the difference. Spinning gear there, allllll day long, lol. Most of the waters I fish are stained to muddy so lite line and long casts are not necessary. Around here most of our water is flooded timber so there are a lot of stumps, branches, grass, and other "stuff" that I would really prefer a fish not get wrapped up in. I feel more comfortable with a baitcaster bring a fish out of junk as quickly as possible, and my experience has been that with spinning gear you have to play the fish more. Now, I will admit that I have never used heavy line on spinning gear, and I tend to let my spinning reel have more give with the drag system. Why are you bringing your baitcasters to Fork? Probably the same reason I use them in waters I usually fish. *** ***At this time we feel it is prudent to mention that the opinions stated by me, are merely that, MY OPINIONS. They do not necessarily reflect that of the moderators on this website (obviously). LBH and RW would fight to the death with (insert favorite diety here) if he/she stated that baitcasters were the superior choice for bass fishing. ;D
