It's no that stiff. I may end up using braid for better hook sets. If I ever get rid of my other Christmas present (101* fever) I'll get it to my other rods to compare it to them.

My least expensive combo is this Duckett rod with a Speed Spin reel spoiled with 15# generic braid. The entire rig including bait was under $150! Ironically the fish didn't care.

I'm curious, how'd you fillet them and get the bones out? Fried Trout is the only way I can eat that ,,,,,, stuff, but by the time I cleaned it and boned it I had wasted a ton of meat.
