  1. I've caught absolutely nothing with it. And boy it's hard to cast for a long period of time.
  2. My lake has been similar. It heated up very quickly and I'm not catching them shallow like I was a couple weeks ago when the water temp was 59. Now the water temp is over 70 and it seems like they have moved back to deeper water for some odd reason. I caught a 6 lb'er a couple days ago and it was showing no signs of spawning (ie. wasn't fat with eggs like I expected) I'm not sure if they have already spawned or what.....I have to agree this spring is weird!

  4. How do y'all know it's a female?
  5. Thanks guys! There's another bream-like fish I catch a lot. It looks similar but has a bigger mouth. I'll post a pic next time I catch one.
  6. That is what I thought it was but one neighbor calls them sunfish and the other neighbor calls them bream....So I wasn't sure what it was sunfidh, blugill, or bream. Thanks!
  7. Sorry if this is a stupid question but there are so many types of bream-like fish that I'm not sure what I have in my pond so I thought I would ask. The picture doesn't show the full array of colors but it has some light blue below the mouth and a bright orangey yellow belly. What kind of fish is this specifically? Thanks guys!!!
  8. OK...I was yanking right when I saw them come up and grab it. I missed them I guess and if they missed the lure I wasn't giving them a 2nd chance cuzz after I jerked it would fly up and almost hit me. Thanks guys...I'll try a delay from now own.
  9. I'm in SC and they are crushing all top water now. Should start in NC soon!
  10. They have been just crushing top water lures around sun up and sun down at my 8 acre pond. I'm using super spooks and they are getting crushed like crazy! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'm missing about 2/3rds of the bites. They are powerful bites...not sure if I should jerk immediately when I see the bass grab it or wait a few seconds but I must be doing something wrong. Those are pretty large hooks on the super spook but maybe they are still too small. I'm not sure if I'm jerking the lure out of their mouth or if they are spitting the lure out before I have time to jerk. God it so fun though...would be funner if I landed more Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
  11. I ussually spend about 400 on my combos but I only fish an 8 acre lake and I've had zero luck with the bama rig so far on a combo that wasn't best for that rig. Also I don't have much cover at all so I ussually don't fish with a Heavy or Extra Heavy rod and my building wont hold a 7'-6" rod. So with that in mind I'm wanting a cheap combo to see if that rig works in my lake. If not I don't want to spend 400 on something I can't use or store easily.
  12. Guys, I'm looking for an alabama rig rod and reel together for less than $100. I'm looking for a 1 piece 7' 6" extra heavy and both the reel and rod as light as possible. I don't care as much about sensitivity because my plan is just to throw it way out and slowly reel it in without killing my arm so low weight would be great. Thanks for your help!
  13. Sorry, didn't realize this had been asked already.
  14. If you have problems with your knots then don't use leaders...which was my point. If you can't get the knot through the guides then I would just go with a braid.
  15. lol...then go without. I use green braid in greenish water. With the end of it being 8" away I seriously doubt it causes a fish to turn down the lure.
  16. My leaders are only about 8" so the knot doesn't go through the guides.
  17. If I caught an 8 lb'er in the fall how much would she weight right before spawn when she is about to bust open with eggs? Thnaks!
  18. How can I find the weight of the Duckett rods? I can't find this info anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
  19. 7 ft Duckett with a curado 50E
  20. So what is your favorite app? I really like "My Fishing Advisor". You gotta check it out. It tells you if it's going to be a great fishing day or not based on the weather, moon phase, etc. Seems to be a good guide. What is your favorite fishing app?
  21. "My Fishing Journal" app for your phone!
  22. White super fluke! Enough said!
  23. Ok I guess I was wondering how long it will take to sink not waterlogged. Anyone else have a guess on how long it will take it to sink? Thanks!
  24. I tied a cinder block to the top of a Christmas tree and another one at the trunk and put it in my pond. I wasn't able to tie the blocks super close to the tree so I have about 3 feet of rope between the tree and the blocks. The problem is since the tree is still buoyant it wants to float. It is suspended up off the bottom. The side of the tree is only about a foot under the surface of the water. How long will it take it to sink to the bottom? Thanks!
