  1. Using bream in my state is legal. If I were to fish for flatheads, I would need to use live bream, right? How do I rig this live bream setup?
  2. Cool...thanks for the tip....I'm going to try it!
  3. I think I have these... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_Turtle They are always chasng my top water lures.
  4. When people say they use cut bait bluegill when catfishing, what exactly are they talking about? Do I just catch a large bluegill, let it die then hook it through the back and throw it out with a hook in it? or do I cut the head off first? do I need to scale it and cut the head and tail off? I'm just not sure exactly what to do when using bluegill cut bait for catfishing. Thanks!
  5. Onions???? Seriously? 'I’ll have to give that a try. I didn't think they would eat onions, lol.
  6. Sorry I just noticed another thread about trapping minnows and it looks like dog food is a good bait.
  7. Gonna use minnows to catch some largemouth (or try to) so I'm about to trap some using a wire mesh trap I got from BPS. What is good to put in those for bait? Thanks!
  8. Its from a pond not a river or stream.
  9. It just seems like they would be bad if they eat the same things bass eat....that would make them compete for food. Of course I would like to have as much food for the bass as possible. Maybe they dont compete with bass...I dont know.
  10. I'm in South Carolina.
  11. My pond has turtles in it. Not sure if they compete with the bass for food or if they are food for bass. Are they good or bad for bass in a pond/lake generally speaking?
  12. A friend of mine that knows a good bit about fishing didn't see it but he said in my pond it was post likely a mud catfish. Of course that doesn't mean much because he didn't see it. I'm hoping it is a flathead since they get pretty big. I caught 3 of them with jugs and they were all pretty town up when I retrieved them the next morning. Not sure if the turtles tried to get to them or if they just injured themselves on the jug line. They all have injuries including one that had an injury to the flat spot on his head that didn't look fresh.
  13. Here we go....what kind of catfish is this????
  14. There are 3 iaconellis...not sure which is the real one. I'll check out the other 2.
  15. I made sure the pic wasn't too big. It's only 500k
  16. Hey do y'all follow any of the pros on twitter or any other Bass related people?
  17. I keep trying to upload the pic and it keeps saying "internal server error" oh well. I have posted a pic before with no problems...any idea what is wrong?
  18. Not sure what kind of catfish this is...any ideas?
  19. I'll check the laws and may try it. -How do you fish for catfish using bream? With bass I assume you hook it and add a float and let it swim around. With catfish do you let it swim around or kill it and bottom fish with the whole dead bream?
  20. Thanks for the help guys. Maybe I'll retry with a smaller/lighter swivel.
  21. I didn't see where this depth finder had any mapping capabilities...what am I missing?
  22. I have this depth finder... http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/Mark-Elite-Series/Elite-5X/ I dont think it will connect to my laptop and work with drdepth. What are some of the lesser expensive depthfinders that will work? Thanks!
  23. A buddy of mine suggested I use bream as bait in an effort to catch some larger fish. -Do any of you do this? -Do you have any tips if so? ie. where to hook the bream, what size bream, etc. Thanks!
  24. I live in a small neighborhood that has an 8 acre pond that is about 30 years old. What are the options as far as creating a topo map of the pond? The ones I have found online are worthless. It would be neat if I could connect something ie a laptop to my depth finder and a gps device and just ride around and have the electronics do it all for me, lol! I doubt that is possible. Does anyone know a good way to create such a map for an 8 acre pond? Thanks!
  25. Guys, are there any tricks to reduce line twist when fishing with a super fluke? BTW, I don’t like using a swivel as it kills the action of my fluke. Are there any other ways to reduce line twist? I’m using 12# Berkley big game mono on a curado reel. Thanks for your help!
