  1. Here are some more pics of them on a paper plate. They have a blueish purple tint along their back and greenish vertical stripes. Hopefully you can see this in the pics...
  2. How sure are you? I thought it was a baitfish of some sort like a shad.
  3. This is what I usually catch in my minnow trap. Whatever it is ranges from about 1 to 3 inches long in my trap. What kind of fish/minnow is it? Thanks for your help!
  4. Just went to tinboats....great recomendation! Thanks!
  5. Please post any jon boat ideas you have done to your boat. -I'm about to mount rod holders to my boat. -I am also thinking about putting seats on it. Wondering how high to mount them... -I'd like to know how to mount cup holders. Anyone have any other ideas, ie. mounting lights, carpet, etc? Thanks in advance...hope we get lots of ideas!
  6. To me, music relieves stress. Fishing does the same thing. I personally like to listen to Pandora via my phone...I just have it laying on the jon boat seat beside me. It's not loud at all just background music. To me it's even more relaxing. Different stokes for different folks!
  7. Well I have been frying a good bit of largemouth bass lately but I'm ready for some healthy choices. If you have a baked, broiled, grilled or other healthy recipe for bass please post them here. My heart says, "Thanks"....lol!!!
  8. My pond is over populated with bass so I'm trying to help by catching and eating the small ones. J, I'm going to try your baked fish recipe from above! That looks good!
  9. Does anyone here use rooster tails for crappie? I always thought they were more for trout but my buddy says he uses them for crappie. Anyone here had any luck with them for crappie?
  10. Once the oil is filtered and put in the refrigerator how long can you keep it until you use it the next time? ie. if you use new oil then filter it and put it back in the original container and keep in the refrigerator for 6 months, is it still good to use the 2nd time?
  11. Thanks for the help guys!!!
  12. What temp should I try to target with the temp probe? How much oil should be in the pan? 1/4" or so? Thanks!
  13. I'm going to pan fry some bass and crappie fillets and was wondering how far up to turn the knob on the electric stove. The stove eye goes from 1 to 10 with 5 being medium and 10 being the highest. I'm just going to put a little oil in the pan and let the oil get hot and fry them but not sure what setting to put the stove on. I know in the deep fryer I like it about 375-400 but I have no idea what setting for the electric stove. Any ideas? Thanks!
  14. Exactly...why put it under the rod with a trigger vs keeping it on top of the rod.
  15. What else could it be? I know there are no stumps or logs in that area. Keep in mind, the screen doesn't normally look like that. It is usually clear or just shows some small suspended things. I took the pic because it was showing some larger blobs at that moment and I thought it was cool. Thanks!
  16. Do you use a beetle spin the same way as the crappie jig?
  17. DO you use a bobber with using a crappie jig?
  18. Thanks for answering. What do you mean, "step in weight"? Thanks!
  19. I've always used minnows on a bobber when fishing for crappie. How do you fish with a crappie jig to catch crappie? Do you just cast the crappie jig out and steadily reel it in like a spinnerbait, drag it across the bottom or what? Thanks.
  20. Are you talking about a spin cast with a trigger under the rod when you say, "underspin" ans "super spinner"? Thanks!
  21. Yeah not sure what the advantages are to an under spin/trigger spin compared to a spin cast reel sitting on top of a rod with a push button.
  22. I don't use spincast reels but back when I did they were all mounted on top of the rod. Why do some pan fish combos locate the spincast reel on the bottom of the rod? What is the advantage of locating the spincast reel underneath the rod? If figure there must be some advantage or they wouldn't do it. Thanks for the help!
