  1. This guy was saying it dissolves fast becuase of the acid in their stomach....not rust from the water. Does the acid help it dissolve faster? Thanks for the help!
  2. Thanks! AFter I took the hook out and let it go, I was told, I should heave left the hook in as it will dessolve in 4 days.
  3. I caught a big one last night and when I got it to the bank I noticed the hook was stuck really deep into her throat. It took me a while to get it out. She kept trying to swallow the hook but I finally got it out, hopefully without keeping her out of the water too long or doing more damage than letting her swallow it. I have heard different theories so I thought I would ask… -When the hook is real deep, is it best to cut your line at the eye and let her go or try to take it out which may cause her more damage???? Thannks guys!
  4. Mine is probably not having the drag set correctly. Sometimes I get in a hurry and forget this important step. ie. last night I was trying out a new reel and on my 2nd cast, a 7 pounder decided to bite and I had forgot to set the drag. It was a challenge but I did land her.
  5. Why do you guys use the length of your rod?
  6. Buy these... White super fluke! Fish it weedless... http://www.basspro.com/Zoom-Soft-Plastic-Baits--Super-Fluke/product/7506/-1714970?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT Look at the overall rating in that link and the number of reviews. Compare that to anything someone else adds to this thread. The white super fluke is the best IMHO!
  7. My fluoro leader tied to my braid is only about 18 inches. How long is yours? What length do you think works best? Thanks!
  8. My new personal best....a 7 pounder! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO I decided to try a wacky rigged Senko for the first time tonight. Never used a Senko or fished wacky style. On my 2nd cast, I caught this beast!
  9. Get the following... -A 6'-6" MH Duckett casting rod for about 160 -A Shimano Curado 200E7 (they are 139 at Tackle Warehouse) You will not be disappointed with this setup!
  10. I'm thinking an 18 inch leader is plenty.
  11. Your #1 mistake was using cheap polorized glasses? I like the good ones too (Costas) but that wouldn't be #1. Found that interesting.
  12. I'll give it a try for bottom fishing. Sounds like it isn't too popular except for leaders around here. Thanks for the help everyone!
  13. When people discuss water temperature, where are they talking about? Top (surface of the water), middle (half way down to the bottom), at the bottom?
  14. Thanks for your answer...that's kinda what I thought. Sounds like it is best when using it for bottom fishing. Anyone else?
  15. I know fluoro is great for leaders but when is it better than mono when using it as a spool full? Since fluoro sinks is it better for bottom fishing, ie. t&c rigging? Is it better when using senkos? In your opinion when is a reel full of fluoro better than mono? Thanks!
  16. White Super Fluke! Nothing else is even close on my pond!
  17. Good find...thanks!
  18. I once caught one of those Asian carp on a weightless cricket floating on top trying to catch bream. Next time throw a cricket out and see what bites.
  19. On my pond it's carp that are splashing at the top now. I hate those asian carp but they do keep the grass problem away that we had a few years ago. They splash around the top of the water like crazy though....not sure why?
  20. My spinning reels have 3 line weights printed on them. Are those the 3 most optimum line weights the reel is rated for (reel ratings), or is it merely letting you know how much the spool will hold in those 3 weights and NOT ratings??? I have read different opinion on this here and thought I would try to get a consensus. Thanks for the help!
  21. Thanks guys! This is very helpful! I figured they were different weights but wasn't sure which was heavy and which was lighter.
  22. My Shimano reels came with some extra centrifugal weights. Some are red and some are green. What is the difference in the 2 colors? Is one heavier than the other? The manual makes no mention of them. Thanks
  23. I fish an 8 acre pond for largemouth bass. At the deepest part it's about 12 feet deep and is about 30 years old. What would be the optimum water temperature for catching bass? Thanks!
  24. How many acres is your pond? Size matters, lol!
  25. I'm also in SC and have been fishing on my pond a good bit this summer. The heat is tough. I carry a few cold drinks with me out on my jon and try to fish the shades near the bank. This way both my jon and I are out of the sun. I use white super flukes, c & t rigs, super spooks, and senkos for the most part. I'm not having near as much luck as I did in the spring, but I did catch a 6 pounder a couple weeks ago. They are few and far between right now but it has forced me to be a better fisherman to get the bites. Hope that helps! What part of SC are you in?
