  1. Duckett is a *****, IMO...........he says "shaw is making a mistake, WE have proved the bass are on the inside line" LMAO, the only thing he proved is he could catch Shaw's fish when he cut him off. I know some might disagree, but taking both of their personalities........ if Shaw said he cut him off, I am inclined to believe the happy go lucky Shaw instead of the smug Duckett. another thing I noticed......Shelly Sanders has gotten "thicker" since the last series. LOL
  2. I am not that worried about the Arig bite or not an Arig bite....... I talked to a guy from BPS that fished it 4-6 weeks ago for 5 days (in the heart of the ARIG bite) and he caught plenty of fish on jigs and various other baits. That said, either way, I will buy an ARIG set up but it aint going to be before the road trip cause I have already spent more money then I should have LOL.... I aint poor but I already got a tackle store in my boat and I need to learn to catch 'em with what I got before I start swinging magic wands around. Pickwick is 50,000 acres with TONS of fish, I am sure not all the fish are thinking, "I lost my appetite, cause that aint no ARIG....."
  3. this weather is crazy......I was hoping by trip time that the fish would be in all 3 phases pre, post, and on the beds. who knows now.......20-30degree cold front moving through today.
  4. at 55 degree water temps a topwater bite can be had. I too noticed schooling fish last week, with 57 degree water......threw in the shcool and drug out a 4 1/2 pounder.
  5. Dobyns DX742c shimano core 50 7.1:1 12# tatsu 1/4 oz megastrike pro 2 head JJ magic zoom 7 in trick worm, magnum shake worm, 7in robos, powerteam lures 7 in tickler
  6. when drop shotting I use the VMC spinshot hooks. I like them a lot. you can nose hook the robo worms and it gives off lot of action. I actually thread the worm on the hook about 3/4 of an inch, not quite as much action but more fish per worm.
  7. RW- I wouldn't do it....... I got bentgrass greens and its the reason I cant fish most of the summer. Its beyond a headache and a crap shoot whether they make it through each and every summer. Most courses in the Memphis area have gone back to Bermuda......... as far as I know there are only 2 courses left with Bentgrass, mine and Chickasaw CC. Flyfisher...... I wouldn't worry about the creeping nature of Zoysia , while yes it is propagated by stolens like Bermuda, it does not spread at near the rate a Bermuda grass would..... and really you would be edging your driveway and curbs every 2 weeks anyway to make it pleasing to look at so you really have no worries on that end of it.
  8. Hey Kent, if you could, tell them to work up a soft plastic bite Saturday, LOL.
  9. if you got any questions PM me if you want. Being a golf course superintendent I talk, look at, and grow grass all day long.... and would be glad to help.
  10. with what do you cut the leg notches out with? I never thought about make it less noisy, but might as well learn how for future reference
  11. this year I think I am going to just throw a rage toad and replace the buzzbaits with it and see what happens.
  12. 1 phoenix 2 rage tail/strike king 3 dobyns 4 lews 5 Johnson outdoors (humminbird/minnkota)
  13. I checked today for giggles. Dobyns 745 lews TP 7.1, supertuned and boca7s 1/2 football head jig rage craw trailer 20# tatsu ripped a overhead cast to just over 40 yards but not quite 45. main question is, who the hell fishes a jig 40 yards away?
  14. not really, but I have put my health on the back burner since I have not been to the gym in 2+ years (used to be everyday)....does that count?
  15. http://youtu.be/ejGQ5oIuP9c
  16. of course there are.......Limb Bream and the elusive OakBass! lol
  17. rhino........what is "good rain gear" without breaking the bank? I know frabill and Sims make great suit but are pricy.....I got a cheaper FrogToggs set, I hope if I ever really have to use it, it will do its job.
  18. By Memphis in May weekend , I am talking about Music Fest weekend. Seems without fail it rains that week and you have to wade in MUD to go see your choosen bands. either way you are spot on about the weather pattern, I really dont think we have had more than 2 really fishable weekends. Friday cold fronts for 3 months it seems. Of course from the tales of last Pickwick trip.....It didnt stop Big O from catching over 100 smalljaws. I'm pumped rain or shine.
  19. well it is memphis in may weekend.......the locals know what that means 4inches+.
  20. with 200 yard spools I get 3 fill ups (65 yards per reel) which is on par with Jeff's 2 cast set up. I got pretty nice gear, Lews TP and shimano cores, cleaned and supertuned. My opinion is people who say they can cast over 40 yards non wind aided are full of it.........everyone catches 5 pounders until you weigh them, and everyone cast 60-70 yards until you pace it off. My standard response to people when say " I can spool myself on a cast".....you should add more line, LMAO edit Lipless cranks are the exception, you really can BOMB those out there a ways
  21. Just about ready here too, most tackle is stowed and put in an organized spot..........main thing is will my new truck be here or not. I ordered a new RAM back in early feb.. I am hoping it is here or I am going to have to buy 2 tires for the trade in, which does not make me happy.....
  22. don't worry, when those carp hit the great lakes they will start to think about doing something. Nobody cares about the southern waters and rivers the carp have destroyed, but God forbid anything happens to the great lakes. I got to leave now, if I say anymore, the thread will get shut down.....if its not already on its way there.
  23. does roger do follow boats? (for a charge of course) Not trying to horn in on ya, just weighing options and deciding on how early to get up wends. just thinking outloud really...
  24. I'll bring cash, and beer if needed LOL....
  25. so double digit drum/buffalo count? YEAH!!!!!!!!
