Befor and after rain
What techniques or baits should I use right after a big rainstorm? I live in Orlando, and we get a solid afternoon rain almost everyday. How do bass react to rain? Is it worth fishing after a real intense storm? Thanks, Boatless

what states have bedded bass now
The ponds inOrlando had spawning fish 3 weeks ago...I'm trying to figure out if those were earlier starters or if they are all finished???

HOW MANY RIGHTYS THROW A LEFT RETRIEVE REEL?
I am an ambifisher... I learned to reel with both hands. i am right handed so i cast with my right. I thinks its more annoying to switch hands every cast than to take and hour and learn how to reel with your left.

Why did this fish bite?
i know i should be using jigs and plastics...But when i tell you that this pond has weeds on the shoreline, im telling you that you cannot throw a jog without getting a pound of weeds and muck! Im not exaggerating, this stuff is thick.

Why did this fish bite?
I was fishing today and i can see all the beds along the weedline. I had only 4 hits all day. I pressumed because my crank bait got too close to a nest, not aggressive strikes. I took a food break, went back out and I caught a malle( he was small about 1.5 lbs) What gives, I thought the males did not eat while guarding the nest... I was using a shallow running crank bait, he went right after it. I was real surprised, can anyone explain this?

Does it upset you?
I hate when people keep the fish they catch. I can understand one fish, if you really like eating them....But these idiots with 10-15 bass, c'mon do you really need all of them?

How to convince her to let you fish
Glenn you're a stud. I'm not old enough to have to worry about the old ball and chain yet. Thank god for college.

when is it too cold
I read somewhere else on the forum thats it not neccessarily how cold the temperature is, but how consistent it is... I live inOrlando, and up until last week, the weather hadnt gotten below 50 in a month. The fishing was great, the bass were taking everything topwater, spinners, worms, crank bait, you name it. We've had about 5 days of realativly cold weather, nights in the 30's, and the fish have not been biting at all. Or maybe its just that I'm not a very good fisherman.

Peacock Bass
The peacocks in south florida are the butterfly. They dont get as big as the huge type you see in south america but they get plenty big and fight harder than largemouth. Sometime ago when peacock fishing got big in south florida, the local fishing write up talked about how a 1lb peacock and 1 lb largemouth tied tale to tale the peacock would ware out the largemouth in 3minutes. The hotter the water the better for peacocks, so you can wake up at noon and go catch them in summer. when its 90+ outside. They are more agressive than the largemouth, they chase prey instead of ambush. They'll take anything, but I hear thr floating baby rapala in bright colors worksreal well. The further south in south florida you go, the better and bigger peacocks get. Dade and broward counties are the best because theyre the warmest in the winter. The peacock cant take the temperature of winter time even as far south as palm beach. All the canals in south palm beach, broward, and dade counties have peacocks. Miami international airport has monster peacocks. Theres also a bigger canal down there I think C-14 off I-95 thats locally famous for peacocks. The miami homestead airport also ahs tons of peacocks, but i dont think they let you fish there. Any canal you can fish from the bank and catch fish. Work your lure fast.

Setting the hook
Thanks for the help. The fish I am losing are on my line...I'm not good enough yet to notice these small taps and such. I get real heavy, agressive bites. I set the hook and always lose him when i start reeling. I use standard 7.5 inch culprit or charlie worms with a weedless hook. When I miss a fish, my worm comes back balled up around the hook. How much of the hook should I be exposing, KU?

Setting the hook
I'm new to the forums. I need help with my worm fishing... I fish in shallow water, full of weeds. I fish my worm weightless, with a 4/0 hook. I cant keep a fish on the line. Whats the secret to setting the hook? I usually wait 1-2 seconds before setting the hook as hard as possible. Anyone with more experience than I please help me out.
