so... im going to be a father.
As the father of 4 here is my advice: Enjoy being a father. It is a blessing so if you keep that in mind you and your (soon to be) wife will figure out whats best for your family. Everything else (meaning all the advice friends and family will pass on to you) is just matter of opinion. JMHO.

Discontinued Lures and lure colors
I did not know this. > I somewhat stocked up on a few bags of my favorite color(s) , but this is a worm that has some family history so I will have to start the internet search for what is still available.
-
Remember the Mann's Manipulator worm?
You can buy the Augertail Worm in 6 or 8 inch sizes directly from the company in bags of 10 or 100.

Discontinued Lures and lure colors
If the link does not work I would try to contact Simmons Sporting Goods (toll free 1-888-657-6859) as it appears they may the special distibutor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ZOOM-FINESSE-20PKG-004-011-PUMPKIN-BLUE-/400059078302?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2561169e Hope this helps. Side note from looking at the pic if they are out I would think some of the private guys (like ghost baits) could make this for you as it looks to me to be pumpkin seed w blue flek.

How often do you buy ,or get a new rod, or reel,or combo.
I thought the very same thing.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
The local Dick's Sporting Goods store put some rods on sale that were too good to pass up so I got 2 new rods: G Loomis Spinnerbait Series SBR812C ($135.00) G Loomis Bronzeback Series SMR812C ($83.00) Of course now I need a couple reels.

yamamoto kut tail worms
+1; I have had a good amount of success on a drop shot as well.
-
2 jerk baits and a fat boy crank
I feel the same way - love to throw a jerkbait and that one just has success written all over it.
-
More cranks
Beautiful work - nothing else needs to be said.
-
guess the weight.
Well I think if you were to ask her how big yours was, you would appreciate an inflated number so you should return the favor and tell her it was 4 pounds.

Fishing related songs?
5 pound bass by Robert Earl Keen

Husky Jerk
Another thumbs up for this bait. FWIW this outfished my X-Rap the last time the jerkbait bite was on. I love the X-Rap (Olvie), but based on the situation I will put this on over my XRaps.
-
More cranks
Beautiful work. Not sure that I have the brownish one before but that is amazing looking.

World record bass a phony.....
Matt, I do not think your post is fair. You choose not to believe it the record I have zero issues with that. I personally could care less if the record is valid or not because it will never impact my like, but to say that because Perry elected not to take a polygraph test somehow casts doubt is just wrong. Did Scott disclose to Perry that a polygraph was going to be part of the interview? If he did not fully disclose the intentions of the interview process at the very least it would be human nature to feel like you were being forced to prove your innocence. If someone were to pull a stunt like that on my 84 year old grandfather from Cordele, GA they would be lucky to only get thrown out on their backside and I would bet good money that a shotgun would be at least seen.

Anyone used this or similar????
DW, I am in NE FL and I haven't had to use the pole in the worse conditions yet, but I tend to agree with grizzly1654. If used properly I think it is a value pick. If you are going to hammer on it then I would by a better pole. Certainly you can get into situations where it's not the best pole, but for over 90% of normal conditions I think the cost (not spending $200) and the ability to break down the pole are worth the investment. Just my 2 cents.

I have the same pole. Works as expected. Simple but effective. I have been pleased.

Gene Larew
It certain does. After reading Catt's posts that is the exact reason I was looking for the worms. This gator is not too proud to learn from the successful guys on this board ;D Now if I could just get *** to get make a version, in Catt's favorite color, I could get the best of this board in one shot.

Gene Larew
Hoss, I 100% agree with you. The only reason I knew where to look was that I stumbled on the path while looking for the 7.5'' Salty Ring Tail. I must have looked a half dozen times and finally just fell into the right spot.

Scott Martin Challenge?
One of my favorite shows and that episode along with the one with his father are my two favorite. Loved how excited he was for his boys and reminded me of fishing with my dad. My dad passed away this past summer and my son is only two so the shows helped me see both the past and the future.

The Downside To Hawg Hunting
You set the hook and THUD, everything in time stops, your rod is bent and creaks under unbelievable pressure, your line sings with the tremendous stretch as if to say "Hello, this is the Real Deal", and suddenly something is moving at the other end of your line....................... "Oh A Happy Day" Big O www.ragetail.com Yesterday is the first time I had a big fish on that broke off right in front of me. Big O described the situation perfectly, I set the hook and time stopped, a pure pause until the drag started going. Everything was great right up til the fish broke off as a I was reaching to lip it. 6 unbelievable inches and snap, fish rolled off and was gone. I was absolutely numb. At 38 years old I am fortunate enough to say that I can't remember the last time I have cried but yesterday I felt like it. Only two good things came from it: I learned how much I like GMan's jigs and when telling the story to a friend he told me his story of having a 50 lb king within gaffing reach only to break off. That fish was worth a $100,000 and a brand new ($150,000) boat. His story made me feel better.

Not Happy with my Dad
I would suggest that you accept that he has another other points of view. Most of our parents had to do this on an occasion or two with us, so turn about is fair play. In this case it would be a shame if this difference of opinion detracts from you enjoying your time with your dad. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
