  1. LMG, its not a touchy subject, some people just cant handle someone elses opinion on a product they use or just read waaaaay to much into somethin that wasnt all that serious to begin with. you have your opinions and preferences and werent afraid to state them, bravo man. people just need to relax and not get worked up because someone likes somethin different than they do. its not a big deal but some make it out to be obviously. this whole reel war, line war, rod war, ect. will go on forever and ever but what it boils down to is what feels good and works for you. once again, LMG didnt provide a review, just an opinion based off of handling the reel. chill out people lol
  2. everyone has their preference. if shimano was better than lews or any other reel itd be the only reel on the market and vice versa. his preference happens to be shimano, so be it, nothin wrong with shimano, theyre great reels obviously, look at their following but their just not for me and others. yea, he in no way said that was a review and he simply stated his opinion so need to get rude. i love my lews and wouldnt use any other reel. to me they have that "something" he mentioned but like stated above, thats my preference not his. so yea, lighten up guys no need to start a war of words here over one mans opinion.
  3. yea for braid and mono, the palomar is king but fluoro, only zonas shark knot for me. ive straightend hooks with that knot tied using sunline sniper and it cinches down perfect every time. i dont feel comfortable using a palomar with fluoro. my ds knot is always the miller knot.
  4. honestly, i havent seen a difference in hooksets/penetration/strength between a trokar and a paycheck punch hook. ill stick to the tried and true paycheck hook. like mentioned above, you have to blow their eyes outta their skulls when u set the hook in heavy crap, you have to cus if you give that fish any chance of burying itself in whatever cover your fishing it will and you may or may not get em out.
  5. zona's shark knot. best, fastest, easiest, strongest knot ive ever tied. look it up on youtube.
  6. sounds great. id just hate to be out 8 bux. i have another kvd frog that works great so thats why i went with another buuuuut got a dud.
  7. yea just put the shrink barb on the hook, point side up, heat it with a lighter, pinch the pointed end out so it forms the keeper and thats it. doesnt slide down and doesnt let the bait ball up.
  8. i use the gammys or the paycheck baits punch hooks. if i can find em ill use the reaction innovations bmf hook. pretty much the same as the paychecks but i always tie a snell knot. i like the gammys i just hate the keepers, the slide down after 2 fish or sometimes they just slide down without catchin any. i usually cut it off and fasten the metal keeper with a much better piece of shrink wrap that i use.
  9. awesome ill try that. i was thinkin maybe plug the lil hole in the butt end ofthe frog?
  10. i bought an sk sexy frog for the cali delta tournament this saturday and hadnt had a chance to throw it til today. frog hits the water, looks good, start my retrieve, move it about r feet and its under water and doesnt come back up. completely water logged. is there any doctoring i can do to make it perform correctly or am i out 8 bux on a junk kvd frog?
  11. any time your flippin to grass or any type of cover for that matter use a straight shank hook and leave the hook in the plastic. if your using good sharp hooks, that hook will punch right through the plastic and the fish's jaw just fine. i very very rarely have an issue with snagging.
  12. go with the lews, seriously. theyre all beyond amazing in every way. you will not regret it one bit, trust me.
  13. i love the alberto for braid to fluor leader, the best.
  14. yea man i never ever use a leader for punchin, its unnecessary. after seeing tons of fish being caught on an umbrella rig, i really dont think the fish care about line at all. once in awhile yea but not very often. if you must use a leader, tie the alberto knot (modified albright) like sofla mentioned, the best, smallest, strongest knot around. if its gonna fail, itll fail when your tightening it down. my advice, go straight braid and tie a snell.
  15. ohhhhhhh yea, that and other sb's. i usually use a 5/0-6/0 ewg and just t rig it.
  16. yea i agree. i love every single one of my lews reels and theyve performed phenomenally every tournament and fun day. they feel like theyll hold up just fine but only time will tell. as for now, im all lews.
  17. lews wins, no contest in my opinion. ive had about 5 of my gungho shimano buddies switch to lews after trying mine. they got rid of e series curados and new chronarchs btw.
  18. oh ok awesome man. yea your a lot closer than i am, im about 3 hours from the delta i believe which sux bad cus i love that place. yea it does come down this way. im thinkin about fishin the BBT next year, just have to make sure the funds are in order and i can get time off work if need be.
  19. yea i figured an 8 footer was necessary. i know a lot of guys who punch with a 7'6" and dont have issues buuut id like to go with a 7'10" or 8'. i have an ardent f700 and man that thing and a dobyns champ look amazing together which is one reason i kinda want a champ lol ive been checkin out zombie rods and those things look amazing and from what ive heard and read, they are some of the absolute best flippin/pitchin/punchin rods made. g3steve, i know the feeling man, i stuck a freight train right on the edge of the mat, had her for on, saw her come up and attempt to jump, started diggin down into the mat and gone. im huntin for her during the tourney next weekend. you live close to the delta?
  20. there was another attack reported. this time it was a college student eating the brains and heart of another. my brother told me about today, look it up, pretty crazy. a zombie doesnt have to be a dead person reanimated and eating people. it can very well be a drug related thing, if thats the case then that means this is straight up biological "warfare" and even that is somethin to worry about. the u.s. government actually has a protocol in place in case of a "zombie apocolypse" if they didnt somewhat believe that was possible, that protocol wouldnt be in place. i think everyone is goin to deny and keep quiet about what it is or could possibly be until it bites us in the butt, by then itll be too late. all we can do now is wait and see what else happens. anything is possible.
  21. awesome! ive demoed that rod and it was pretty good. i didnt have a chance to really test it hard but i got some use out of it and liked it. i wont completely disregard a brand of rod, reel, line, lure, anything just based off of one product. the 735 was awesome, is awesome but not for what i was using it for obviously. i really wanna try out a champion 766 as i hear good things.
  22. theyve changed which "drug" made the guy do this about 5 times already. im sayin zombie. thats something thats very possible as its a virus not some fake fairytale thing like vampires and werewolves. those pics are gnarly tho.
  23. hmm thats weird, i use their fast grip straight shank worm hooks and have never had one issue.
  24. i like the sk plus glasses a lot. theyre comfortable, have great lenses, and are only 25 bux. get 2 pair and spend the rest on tackle lol
  25. straight shank hooks imo cant be beat. in fact i use them a lot more that ewg's. i like the fact that the point doesnt run in line with the eye, theyre offset thus you get a better hook up ration, well i do any way. i always tie a snell when flippin/pitchin/punchin with braid. most the fish get hooked in the roof of the mouth and thats really where you wanna hook em. straight shank hooks are just hard to beat imo.
