  1. i like the sk rodents a little more as well but depending on color and size, ill go with the ri sweet beaver. theres one store in my area that carries sk rodents and their color selection as well as size is very limited. theres 3 that carry all the ri products. the missiles baits d bomb is a good bait if you want a bigger profile. they are great but not very durable.

  3. ive used the rage craws and have got bit, nothin big but i have gotten bit to say the least although i havent reeaallyy fished em hard like other baits. are they the best? eh idk about that but they are good baits. ive got better and bigger fish using yamamoto double tail grubs as a trailer as well as an excite baits raptor tail chunk but id say about 90% of the time, theres a yamamoto double tail on my jig.
  4. ohhhh yea, i do that a lot as well as c rigging swimbaits. the fish annihalate em.
  5. i have the same issue. not the goin to bps addiction because the closest one is 2 hours away but the "why did i buy that when i could have bought that and saved some cash" issue. my advice is to just forget it and fish the hell outta that combo. i have a lot of gear and i still buy things whether i need them or not. i like to know that i have whatever it is just in case. bass fishing both for fun as well as competitivley is what i want to do for a living. its all i think about day and night, its all i wanna do. if your passionate about bass fishing then dont stress about the money you spend on gear as long as your taking care of your responsibilities, who cares lol
  6. i love straight shank hooks. so a 4/0 vmc fastgrip.
  7. i just picked up the 7'6" mh a few days ago and was able to get some fishin done before this storm hit here in central cali. i love this rod! its beefy yet light, the action is awesome! horsed a 6 pounder out of a tule mat with no problem at all. seriously if youre thinkin about gettin one, stop thinkin and just do it, you honestly will not be disappointed. this thing looks awesome with my lews ss.
  8. cashion rods are awesome. i have a 7'3" casting rod and its stupid sensitive, light, and awesome! if i were you, id go with the cashion.
  9. lol yea idk how people think invizx is the best fluoro ever, that stuff is horrible buuuut thats just my opinion.
  10. yea idk about this one. i have mostly have the speed spools and theyve all been great! ive checked out the tourny pro and like it, its awesome but idk, its hard for me because theyre both great, smooth, strong, and nice reels. id say if you have the money, go for it if not then get the tournament ss and youll be just fine right in between.
  11. thank you guys for the responses! keep em comin. forgot to mention, i like 14-20lb fluoro.
  12. i mean all aspects of jig fishing; flippin, pitchin, draggin, etc.
  13. ive got the first genesis series freds magic stick and its awesome. ive used it a lot for c rigs, flippin, pitchin, frogs of course, and even a big spinnerbait. its a powerful, awesome rod. well worth the cash.
  14. +1 for the dobyns 735c. i use an allstar 7'6" heavy telescoping as well. not the nicest lookin rod but geez its light, sensitive, and powerful. lookin at gettin a bps carbonlite flippin stick soon.
  15. yea ive read that about the micro guide version. idk why they do that. im gettin the standard guide carbonlite. hopefully i have no issues because im selling a rod to get this one.
  16. i always, always find myself goin back to a jig, t rig, c rig, or a spinnerbait. they just work all the time. drop shotting is great too but im not a fan of the fairy wand. what id like to work on more is my crankbait, football jig, and topwater techniques. theres always room for improvement and/or refinement.
  17. ive fished high end loomis, dobyns, st. croix, and others. ive also fished powell, irod, abu, berkely, shimano, you name it, ive tried it.... and sold it. i honestly, honestly didnt feel that an nrx, champion, champion extreme, legend, etc. were any more sensitive or strong than a powell max, endurance, irod, or other in that price range. were they lighter, a little bit but that was really all i really noticed. i put them all through the gauntlet so it wasnt just a quick test. i stick with middle of the road ($100-$200ish) gear because it works for me. its all really sensitive, light, and powerful. i love my gear and imo its everybit as good as everything else. thats the probelm i have with bass fishing. people get judged a ton based off of what rod, reel, and line one uses and its ridiculous. that shouldnt happen. just because someone can afford a 450 dollar rod and a 300 dollar reel doesnt make them gods gift to bass fishing, theyre simply a person who can afford high end gear, woopdy doo! im by no means knockin anyone, just want to throw that out there. idk, i feel if a low to middle end rod and reel work for someone, by all means stick with it, nothin wrong with that. i think at times a lot of bass anglers really place too much emphasis on what rods and reels they use and forget about how fun and great this sport is.
  18. whats your price range? i use an irod freds magic stick for frogs and its pretty awesome man. irod just revamped the genesis series and made them lighter and nicer lookin. great rods for 150. a bps rod is just as good if not better than a lot of rods on the market from what i hear. its frog season here in ca and im gettin a bps carbonlite this weekend. ill let u know how it does for froggin when i get out on the water again.
  19. man im really stoked for my new combo after readin all this lol
  20. lews speed spool. awesome reels. im gettin a pq this weekend to see what all the fuss is about lol
  21. ohh i see. im sure theyll be fine. the carbonlite i get will probably never have braid spooled. also, doesnt it say in the description that the guides can handle braid just fine? i figure if they last the whole bassmaster elite series tour with edwin evers, theyll be just fine for me lol
  22. why dont you like the guides? i dont mind foam handles, i really havent felt all that much of a difference between foam and cork other than the obvious.
  23. +1 for the san diego jam.
  24. awesomei thanks everyone for your input, i really appreciate it. if i like it enough i might just sell all my rods and go all bps. its getting hard to justify spending 250 on a dobyns when i can get a rod thats just as good if not better for a fraction of the price.
  25. awesome, thank you! i was lookin at gettin a pq and a 7'6" med hvy carbonlite for football jigs and t rigs.
