  1. thanks. i was lookin at those but im gonna start with the champ series cus i can get a pretty decent deal on em. at the moment i dont have the extra cash for the extreme but in another month i will. so do you think the 2 models i mentioned would be good for what i wanna use em for, more or less which one do you think would be best?
  2. ok awesome thanks dvt. ive always been interested in having a custom jig/flippin/pitchin/punchin rod built if thats at all possible lol if i wanted to get a quote would i be able to contact you via telephone or just through pm?
  3. yup, your exactly right. these days theres high quality materials to be used at a fraction of the price and the way things are now, lack of jobs, cash, ect, people wanna spend money, they just dont have 250-400 to spend on a rod. powell is a trusted, proven name in rods and doubt very much theyd attempt to ruin their reputation by putting out a junk product. to answer your question, so far yea, theyve held up nice in both departments and i, nor does my buddy see them comin apart any time soon. weve put those things through hell, seriously and they havent disappointed either of is yet.
  4. im looking at getting one for jigs/flippin/pitchin. ive been looking at either the 735c or 736c but cant quite decide. what do you dobyns guys think? open to suggestions on other dobyns rods models also. thanks in advance guys.
  5. if you dont mind me askin, what does a custom rod like the one your having built go for?
  6. couldnt agree more Λ
  7. haha niiiice! those suckers fight HARD!
  8. oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, i already know im gonna be addicted. ill post some pics next week when i make my first batch.
  9. that is awesome! im planning on ordering some jigs from you real soon, your jigs look amazing.
  10. check out californiareservoirlures.com. johnny c makes some awesome jigs in some awesome colors with grea components and will even make custom jigs for you with whatever hook you want. seibertoutdoors has some rad jigs, im plannin on ordering a bunch soon. another option is you can make your own that way you get everything you want and more.
  11. geez man those r some nice fish. my biggest this year has only been a 7.5. hopefully ill be able to one up ya but i doubt it around where i live. youre a dobyns rods guy correct? i ask cus ive been lookin at em pretty seriously lately.
  12. i dont own one but my buddy owns 2 and he said he loves em. theyre not as light as the endurance line but still everybit as sensitive and tough. hes been rough on em and they havent given him one issue thus far. ive used em and they do feel preetty good. imo i think people run their mouths and make assumptions a little too much before even trying something themselves as is what ive seen when it comes to these rods and other gear.
  13. oh yea, trade schools are the way to go. im a welder (custom fabrication) and love the hell out of it. i love gettin bruised, cut, scraped, burned, and goin home dirty as all hell. i went to school for a year and left certified and in the upper pay brackets. regular school is just not for me, nor is bein a desk jockey or any other job that doesnt require me to use my hands and stay clean all day.
  14. yep, 20lb sunline sniper, shooter, or even their super fluorocarbon(15.99, 200yds) dont let the price fool you, its some legit stuff. vicious pro elite is awesome as well and wont break the bank.
  15. yep i agree. lews reels are phenomenal.
  16. beef jerky, raw unsalted almonds, turkey dogs, you can wear a camel back so you dont have to grab a bottle of water while fishing, stuff like that. try to keep it healthy and nutritious so your body gets what it needs to properly function both mentaly and physicaly.
  17. oh yea she is. i cant wait to get a nice boat like that.
  18. imo the a rig is hit or miss. your either gonna kill em or your not. i fished a tourny this past saturday and my boater threw the a rig almost allllll day and caught one fish weighing just over a pound. that seems to be happening a lot around here so imo its not the end all be all of baits, just another tool and like just another tool itll work some days and others it wont.
  19. yea usually the bigger baits attract the bigger fish but the little guys will still have a go at it. as stated above, increasing the hook size would definantly help. i was having the same issue while doin the same thing as you, i went to a 3/0 straight shank and hooked up almost every time.
  20. ive been using vicious for awhile now and their pro elite fluoro is darn good. youll see a lot of people tell u to go with seaguar but honestly, vicious is everybit as good. the only thing i didnt like about vicious was the diameter of the heavier pound test (20-25) its a bit thick for my liking but everything else is awesome. ive used it for bass, catfish, striper, and it never gave me any issues. great abrasion resistance, really sensitive, great knot strength, and smooth and supple. same goes for their braid, awesome awesome stuff.
  21. ive got some lews reels and yea like norcalbassin said, they are great. you know youve found a great reel company when every single model is super smooth, quiet, tight, great casting, easy to dial in, and just straight handles fish lol but yea look around and see if you can find anymore info on that specific reel and sorry for gettin excited there lol

  23. i use both braid and fluoro for flippin but honestly i like flippin with braid a lot more especially in grass mats. i use it in crystal clear water also and still catch fish so its obious that fish really dont care about the line. if i were you id go with braid.
  24. well by mine as well as others who ive talked to about the 2 i mentioned and the 2 you mentioned. either way what it comes down to is personal preference. ive used s8s, wasnt impressed, same with kanzen. thats not sayin they suck, just personal preference. as for the "old" power pro, that stuff is legend in the eyes of some. the reason i said what i did was because it seemed to me tuf line and samurai were both rounder, smoother, and quieter than kanzen and s8s without some coating over it. idc if braid is noisy or "rough" so i really dont care for the coated braids out now.
  25. tuf line xp and daiwa samurai are by far the best braids on the market.
