  1. theyre both great rods but personally id go with the falcon.
  2. b.a.s.s., flw, bam, bassin is still out but kinda hard to find. theyre all great but i think bam takes the crown
  3. id say go for it. i know how sucky it is to want a particular rod and reel but lack the cash to get it. i have the orra and ive got nothin but good to say about it really. its never given me an issue and its pretty smooth and casts great. as for the rod, idk, ive never used it but ive handled that particular combo and the rod doesnt feel bad, who knows, you might be surprised but youll never know unless u get it.
  4. honestly, up until recently i threw everything on about 3 different rods and they worked fine. i sometimes feel like all this technique specific talk is just that, talk but once you read about why a worm rod is a worm rod and a flippin stick is a flippin stick youll realize theres a difference. that bein said, loomis rods are great rods, theres a reason why a ton of people use them but imo theyre a bit over rated. theyre not the most sensitive rod out there nor are they the lightest but like i said theyre great. if your set on buying a loomis go for it, your gonna get a quality rod but if your open to suggestions id say give the new irod air a try, theyre 249 and look and sound to be amazing! they dont get released til march 15th but i think theyll be well worth the wait. a couple other rod companies i would suggest is powell, cashion, st. croix, or stick with your falcons, just buy more.
  5. i have mixed feelings about using a leader with braid. i have used it before and liked it but just couldnt get over the fact that there was another knot between the fish and i. second i didnt really see a reason to use a leader due to the fact that ive caught a lot of fish in gin clear water using straight braid so like i said, i have mixed feelings about it.
  6. where and how do i sign up? ike is one of my all time favorites and id love a chance to fish with him as well as put some of central californias lakes on the map.
  7. im with u dvt, thatd be nice. on another note, no one will ever know if these things are actually good rods unless someone buys one and puts in action. anglers in general(by that i mean all over the country not just here on br) can bicker and cry about no warranty, eva handles, blah, blah, blah but until they actually use it, they shouldnt pass judgement. that goes with other products as well. powell is a respected name in rods and i doubt very much theyd put a piece of junk on the market after putting out some great rods in the max and endurance series.
  8. chatterbaits r awesome. i found that when the spinnerbait bite dies down, the chatterbait kills em and vice versa. sometimes i only use the chatter bait and it wrecks. you can use it in all the same places you would use a spinnerbait.
  9. when i signed up i got the tackle bag before i got my zine. bag came within a week or so of signing and the zine came about 4 days later.
  10. my buddy got a couple and said theyre pretty good. very sensitive, light, not as light as the endurance but still a great rod. he said he doesnt care if the rods dont have a warranty because even if a rod with a warranty breaks, it will probably cost close to 70 bux to get it replaced after buying a tube to ship it in, shipping, paying powell or whoevers rod you have the fee they charge, and so on. so either way you could be payin 70 bux and waiting 2-3 weeks to get a rod replaced or just go back down to the tackle shop and pay 70 bux and get a rod right away. idk makes some sense to me but thats just me.
  11. lol yea brotha u need some new shoes. i know theyll help cus youll have support and padding to cushion the impact thus helpin out your knee. my old shoes probably had 50 billion miles on em and when i got my new running shoes, it was a night and day difference. i freakin hate running the track! i can run for days when im runnin cross country but when im on the track lol well thats a different story, it messes with me. im sure when you get your new shoes youll feel a lot better and not be bothered to much with knee pain. i hope the running advice i left helps and thank you very very much for your service, its greatly appreciated.
  12. lol yea same here. it is pretty ridiculous how some peoples lives seem to revolve around facebook. i cant go anywhere anymore without hearing someone say "omg did you see what numb nuts posted on facebook?" it kinda annoys me. everywhere i go i see people glued to their phones. i to used to have a myspace but havent logged in in idk how long. i really dont care about what people are doing every second of everyday or 99% of the people i went to high school with. lol i just dont get it.
  13. i had a dr. tell me you cant base your weight off the bmi charts. if i remember correctly those charts were created soon after ww2 when the soldiers were comin back home and were all really slim. i used to be 280 in high school, went vegetarian for a year and cut 40 pounds. maintained my weight but still wasnt happy. 3 years ago i started mixed martial arts training 6 days a week sometimes twice a day as well as eating very clean and running long distance. 2 1/2-3 months after seriously training and dieting i weighed in for my first fight at 185lbs, knocked dude out in the first round with a few knees, cashed a 200 dollar check and decide to drop to 170, same outcome. point being, if you have it to lose and apply yourself you can lose it in no time. it really does come off fast if you stay with it and have some self discipline. i believe in all of you guys and know you can do it.
  14. yep, thats our amazing judicial system. our police officers bust their *****, put their lives on the line, and try to make this world a better place only to have some useless judge buy into some scumbags sob story and let em off easy. that really disgusts me. not mention here in good ole cali, murderers either sit on death row and die of old age or some how get out of jail and do the same thing. oh boy if i ran this world scumbags wud really really think twice about doin the dumb crap they do.
  15. ive got 2 and theyre awesome! youll love them. i pretty much only use cashion and irod but will probably be using irods a lot more come the end of this month.
  16. oh yea i forgot, as for your knee, all you can really do there is wear a compression sleeve or something of that sort. itll help a little but of course wont fully remedy the problem. i have mild shin splints and thats usually what helps some. your toes cramping, thats where staying loose and relax come into play.
  17. i used to be 250lbs, started mma training a few years ago and now i fight at 170. i love long distance running and used to suck at it. what helped me was what u already mentioned, land mid foot/heel, bring your knees up even with your waist or a bit lower, keep your arms low, never swing them across your body, stick your chest out a little, hands relaxed, try to stay as loose and relaxed as possible, and always breath through your mouth. by doing so your breathing 100% with your lungs. try from the start to get a breathing rythm. for me its, inhale inhale, til my lungs fill, exhale exhale exhale til i feel them empty, if that makes sense. also try to breath as normal as possible the entire run, keep your eyes and chin up, and never think about yourself getting tired. running is as much mental as it is physical. if you need to, motivate yourself, tell yourself to keep going, never quit, this is nothin, you got this, ect. it does help when you actually do get tired and feel like your almost about to stop. oh and thats another thing, dont ever stop if you dont have to, it messes your entire rythm up and lactic acid has an opportunity to start flowing into your muscles.
  18. just a different profile. ive tested them both on a shakey head and t rig and the action is pretty much the same. i do find myself using the fats a little more these days tho with a tad bit better success.
  19. yea thats very true, money is a motivater.
  20. i used to go through the same issue and found that like stated above, if i stay in my little world and not the boaters, i stay focused and dialed in. i think about what im doing, if its not working i think what i could do differently in terms of presentation, lure selection, ect. in my last club tournament my boater was drop shotting. holding in 40' of water and just drop shotting. its hard for me to do that, im more of a power fisherman. instead of doin the same thing i threw a big jig, crawled it and hopped it and slayed a couple 5 pounders. when the jig bite stopped and the boater moved a little further off the point to locate another school, i threw a flutter spoon and rounded out my limit while he was still dropshotting and catching more short fish than keepers. all that bein said, stay focused on you, not the boater, you can control you and the things your doing or not doing. throw something different than the boater is because theres always another technique or bait that will work just as good or better. dont get frustrated or discouraged and if you have to, take a minute and breath, relax and get your mind right again. sorry for the book i just wrote lol
  21. i used to fish with spinning gear a lot when i first started bass fishing when i was a kid and thought it was ok. then i got a baitcaster and after that, i never wanted another spinning setup. i just feel like i have more control of my bait and the fish with a bc setup and its a lot more fun to me. this may sound weird to some but if i dont absolutely have to drop shot, i wont. i know its a great technique thats proven to catch fish but its just hard for me to sit there n wiggle a worm or shad shaped bait until i get bit. id rather throw a jig, swimbait, crankbait, or even better, find some cover to pick apart flippin and pitchin. ive got one of my bc rigs spooled with 8lb test sunline that ive been using to throw 1/8-1/4oz. darter heads and drop shot and its been doin just find which makes it even harder now to justify spending the money on a spinning rig. i wanna get a couple either way because i know theyre another tool and probably will be needed at sometime, its just tough cus i love bc's so darn much lol
  22. saw that episode. if Dr. Jones responds let us know what he thinks. i had no clue that happened to bass or if it actually really does.
  23. good to know theres other that feel the same. idk what it is, ive just never been fond of or very comfortable using spinning gear.
  24. id really like to see tharp get the win this time around. he came close last year and has been due for a win. lol ive been so pumped ive over estimated the weight of a fish as well, its very easy to do when you stick a hog lol
  25. ive used both but robo takes the crown. all their baits are amazing and they float right outta the package.
