  1. just got word from my local tackle shop and jan. 30th is the date they have. im stoked about em, powell makes an amazing affordable rod.
  2. all i use is vicious, mono, pro elite, braid its all amazing. the pro elite is a better fluoro than the original. ive had fish wrapped around logs, got em out and no line abrasion. it does of course get stiffer with the heavier pound test as does all fluoro but nothin a lil line conditioner cant remedy. pro lite all the way man.
  3. i agree with christian, i have the same rod and its pretty awesome. i know for some reason iROD gets a bad rap but honestly theyre great rods. tough sensitive, and light. the irg704c is an amazing jig rod. also cashion rods are insanely sensitive, strong, and light as well and are 100% carbon fiber and at 179.99 you cant beat it. id go with either or both. you really dont need to spend 350 bux to get a quality rod. ive seen more friends break theyre 350 dollar rods than i can count and ive never ever broke my irods or cashions and im pretty hard on my gear.
  4. ok so im an ardent guy, i love their reels and the way they perform but found that i was having to do a little tweaking or they werent functioning/performing like a $200 reel should. i recently bought a lew's speed spool ($89.99) and all i have to say is wow! this thing felt smoother, tighter, and was reaallllyy quiet right outta the box than any of the ardents i have. i couldnt believe it, honestly. if this "entry" level reel felt that way i can only imagine how lew's top of the line reels feel and function. ive used curados, chronarchs, revos, and wasnt impressed at all. theyre god but highly overrated in my opinion but thats just me. i took it and the iROD freds magic stick that its on out to the river to put em both through the gauntlet and yea, they both passed with flying colors. this reel winched a 6 pounder outta some nasty stuff with no problems at all! i love the paddle style grips these reels have they feel amazing. the rod, reeally really sensitive, strong, and light. idc what people think about irod, theyre awesome and i love em and its nice to call and speak to the man himself. im lovin this combo and i think i have found the rods and reels im gonna use from now on. if any of you have ever been curious about lew's and/or irod, try em out for yourself, you will not be disappointed trust me. p.s. im not sponsored by either company i just love and believe in theyre products
  5. you should be fine with the red label. im not a big seaguar fan but ive used it and its not bad at all. id personally recomend vicious pro elite fluoro in either 10 or 12 lb test. i think 12lb test is a good over all line weight for a lot of different techniques.
  6. just curious about their mono, fluoro, and braid. i know bill dance loooves the stuff and swears by it but i was just wondering if anybody has/had experience with it.
  7. yea see i never really liked the curados or any shimano reel for that matter, i honestly think theyre over rated but thats just me. i love my ardents i do but i agree, for $168-$198 reels there are some things about em that i felt could have been better. im startin with the standard speed spool just to see how i like the feel, functionality, and durability of lew's cus i feel that if a companies lower end products work great and stand up to a beating then their higer end products will be second to none. also cus im kinda hard on my gear, i dont just toss it around every where and treat it like crap but i definantly dont baby it. im very excied to get it, i cant wait. oh and im gonna be usin this thing primarily for flippin/pitchin all kinds of cover with heavy line so yea its gotta handle. hound_dog, thanks for lettin me know the lew's is a great flippin reel, i appreciate it brotha.
  8. i will for sure. i have to wait til tuesday now cus monday is a no transit day, pretty lame but hopefully tuesday comes fast! im gettin a boat thursday so i will most definantly be puttin this iROD/lew's combo through the gauntlet.
  9. whats your price range? i really like the abu veritas for jigs. id go with the 7'3" mh, good all around rod. if your lookin to spend more go with an irod irg744c or a cashion 7'3" md. hvy. cashion rods are AMAZING! SO ARE iRODS AS WELL AS THE VERITAS RODS.
  10. hey raider nation ill take one if bassinjody doesnt. i got a rod just sittin, waitin for a reel.
  11. just ordered the speed spool. tw says itll be here monday and I CAN'T WAIT!! its goin on an iROD genesis freds magic stick rod, should be a killer combo.
  12. cant go wrong with strike king rodents. theyre a beaver style bait but have a bit more action to em and are softer so even the slightest rod twitch will have those "claws" movin. also zoom super hogs(my go to) jackall cover craws, wow. i really like the zman flappin crawz, rage tail craws, man ive used a bunch so far this winter and have caught fish on all of em.
  13. yea my dvr is already workin double time lol
  14. lol yea, i cant wait to get one or 2 speed spools lol the only thing ive been wonderin about is the 10lb max drag. idk if thatll hold up for flippin pitchin the nasty stuff. what you guys think?
  15. oh yea, the san diego is awesome! try out the "shaw grigsby" knot. i use that as well and have never ever had an issue. i call the the shaw grigsby cus even he didnt know what it was called lol
  16. see, those are the types of reviews ive been readin! lol i reeeaallyy want the tournament pro but funds are quite limited at the moment and will be for a bit so im gonna start out with the speed spool($89.99) cus even those things seem to be ridiculous from what ive read.
  17. ive been lookin at the lews line of reels and the features and quality ive been readin about are insane! even their $89 speed spool has the same exact features and then some of other higher priced reels. i have yet to read anything bad about them. ive been an ardent guy for a bit now but wow, im probably gonna be gettin a lews to see how it matches up or beats my xs600, xs1000, and f700. hmmm could be makin a switch if these things r for real like the seem to be.
  18. lol yea seriously lol funny thing is i was never gonna ask for anything for my bday since she spent so much on my christmas gifts. im very blessed n grateful to have a woman like her, shes really awesome and cus ive never had a girlfriend wanna fork out that kinda money on my fishing lol i cant wait to get the boat and i cant wait to start becoming a more well rounded angler. thanks for all the input and help guys its really appreciated.
  19. picked up a couple bags and yea, these things r amazing. anyone else have good luck with em?
  20. thank you all for helpin me make up my mind, im definantly gettin the boat and cant wait. ill be able to reeaallyy expand my fishing in all aspects and finally get to the local lakes. thanks again guys and good luck on your next fishin trip.
  21. so the fiance got me some great gifts for christmas but all relating to my mma training/fighting. she surprised me the next day by saying she was gonna give me an early birthday gift of my choice. i fish smaller bodies of water and have always been a bank beater so i thought a lil 2 person pond boat would be awesome! i found one for 300 bux, boat, trailer, seats, oars, 32lb thrust minn kota trolling motor, and everstart battery. amazing deal but i cud also use another rod and reel combo for the upcoming tournament season.... so yea as u can see im in a bit of a bind, heeeelllpp! any suggestions or opinins r welcomed cus i cant make up my mind lol
  22. which wud u choose? gonna use for flippin n pitchin n pair which ever rod with an ardent f700.
  23. theres a video of ike usin it like a swimbait on youtube, dont know the link but seemed like itd produce. i use the pit boss, slop craw, n fat craw n have had good luck so im sure the devil spear will produce.
  24. ive got the ardent denny brauer f700 and absolutely love it! i flip n pitch a ton n this reel has definantly been the greatest. all i use is ardent n love em, theyve been nothin but great since day 1 and theyre customer service is amazing. ill never use shimano, abu, or n e thing else really cus theres no need to change.
  25. vicious pro elite fluoro without question. ive used seaguar, sunline, trilene 100% n others n just found that vicious pro elite performs better for me. never had one issue in any of the lb tests. i love sunline but its too expensive for my budget n hard to find around here, seaguar in my opinion is over rated. its a great fluoro dont get me wrong but i just dont think its as good as everyone makes it out to be. trilene 100%, eh didnt like it at all. pro elite is tough, sensitive, and has great straight and knot strength as well as an amazing price for the quality fluoro it is. all this bein said, its up to u, great suggestions on here but in the end its personal preference.
