  1. i used to have a supercaster 1000 pro n sold it to stick with lew's reels. it was great, i think it only backlashed once the year or so i had it, casting distance wasnt all that much further than my speed spool, i was able to match the distance, it was very smooth, it was a bit easier to cast and pitch lighter lures, it handles great, very smooth, i liked it but i like my speed spools a lot more n i dont really think theyre super great or shud have the price tags they do.
  2. hadnt even heard about it but give it a shot, u might like it.
  3. honestly, ill never use an a-rig. people need to lighten up when it comes to somethings, they should have known other rigs were goin to be made and calld the same thing, after all thats the name. idk i just think the a-rig is a buncha hype, itll blow over soon enough im sure.
  4. dont mean to hijack but how does one become a marshall?
  5. i believe that was randall tharp and it didnt show if he stuck it in the middle or the outside edge. if i were to do that id put it on the outside edge just to keep the bed clear. i might just do that if the water is muddy n im bed fishin.
  6. is this a crankbait rod or just a 7 foot, 4 power worm/jig rod?
  7. i agree to some extent. its good to use the same rod/reel because each rod and reel will feel the same no matter what baits your throwing therefore eliminating that adjustment period. i disagree a little bit because well some rods and reels feel a little better for some things than others. that bein said id rather have one brand of rod and reel than a bunch cus u just dont have time give for that adjustment period when the money is on the line.
  8. man i really hope the wal marts in my area step it up, theyre ok but nothin like the ones some of you guys are describing.
  9. ive got a couple veritas rods and absolutely love em! theyve been nothin but good to me in every situation i encounter. theyre very light, sensitive, and just a well made rod. if your willing to spend close to 200 which is still a low priced rod considering the price tags on other companies rods, check out cashion rods, every model sells for 179.99 and these things are insanely light, sensitive, and strong. i had to get used to how sensitive these rods are cus it honestly seemed like i cud feel a minnow fart the first time i used mine. also id recommend iROD, 150 bux, light, sensitive, tough, and good quality. theyve gotten a bad rap for some reason but ive never had an issue and the customer service is outstanding.
  10. lew's speed spool. 99 bux, very low pro, 10 bearings, very very smooth, tough, and handles light and heavy lines, baits with ease! great reels for the money.
  11. ive got the orra and its been a great reel, smooth, tough, pretty light and surprisingly, it handles lighter baits with ease. as far as the lews reels go, AMAZING! ive got the $89 speed spool and this thing is very very smooth, casts great, light, and is a beast. lews has very tight tolerances so you dont have a buncha spool movement or "rattle" like some other reels. lews would be a great buy.
  12. idk the exact weight of em but i agree, they are one of the lightest and most balanced rods ive handled. ive had my 7'6" mh for about 9 months and have used and abused it and have had not one issue what so ever. they are touugh! get one u wont regret it.

  14. yup, 7' mh lightning rod is a good all purpose rod. i still use mine and find it to be more sensitive than a rod i paid almost 100 bux for.
  15. you should be fine man, ive got an older lightning rod that ive ran braid on n it has never done any damage to the guides.
  16. oh yea, craws, creatures, and jigs in the different variations of green pumpkin, watermelon seed as well as junebug and black and blue.
  17. or you could check out cashion rods, a lil more money but well well well well worth it.
  18. i fish vicious ultimate copoly. that stuff has more than impressed me in every way.
  19. yea like lmoore said, i didnt notice any better of a hook up ratio. ill stick to my bmf's for half the price.
  20. no problem at all, glad i can help. if you get it you really will be happy with it.
  21. ive been checkin this thing out and it looks pretty awesome. i havent found anywhere locally that has it but from the reviews ive read it seems like a great buy. i remember using a pinnacle years ago and it was great, never ever had an issue with it. i have a lews speed spool, abu revo, and a few ardents and love em all but i wanna give the xt or x a shot because i remember pinnacle reels bein quality. anyone have either and if so what do you think? im tryin to consolidate everything to one brand of rod and reel so im tryin almost everything, ive got the rods picked, just need the reels. thanks and sorry for the long post.
  22. i have it and use it pretty heavily. its amazing, it really is. yea its heavy but its really only a couple ounces heavier than my lews n abu which weigh in at about 8.4 ounces, is a couple ounces really that big a deal? and i would expect it to be heavier, look what its designed for. its never given me any problems, pitching is d**n near effortless, the drag is insane, if that fish is hooked, he or she is definantly comin in the boat. it handles braid and flouro great and is just a tank! yea its a one trick pony but think about it, r u really gonna have a rig spooled up with 20-25lb fluoro or 55-65lb braid that ur gonna wanna keep switchin back and forth between whatever your usin it for and flippin/pitchin? idk, just doesnt seem very time efficient if u ask me. all in all the f700 is great, its really exceeded my initial expectations and i think you shud get one if your gonna be flippin/pitchin a lot, u wont regret spendin the money.

congrats man! for me it depends, if im fishing deep sloping points say 20-50' ill throw the football, if im in grass or timber then the arkie style or i guess u can call it the alien head style like the revenge jigs. there are times where ill throw a football head at everything though. as far as sizes go, i mainly stick to 3, 1/2, 3/4, 1 oz. i do have heavier but find they dont get used as often.
  24. vicious pro elite, i use it for punching at times n never had an issue with the stretch. some stretch is good though if your using a heavy rod and a knockout hookset.
