  1. Mg is a little lighter, about an ounce at the same 30 size. The magnesium frame and stem is much more rigid, the drag system is sealed. The spool is a little more aggressively ported, but most of the rest of the reel is very similar. Gander Mountain has the MG on sale, as does I believe Cabela's.
  2. That' a new one for me, I am trying my best to understand the correlation between moon phase and crawdad color. I just don't get it I guess.
  3. I'll offer a response. I grew up fishing in Arkansas and Misouri, Beaver Lake to be exact. Not sure what your thoughts are on highland reservoirs but my idea of them is steep drop offs, bluff walls, and deep water. Beaver Lake has all of this. What sticks in my mind about fishing places like this is don't get hung up on the deep water, just because the water is 100ft deep don't mean that you have to fish in 40-50ft of water. Lots of the fish will be much shallower 20-25ft of water. The bass on these lakes follow the same or similar seasonal migrations as other lakes and reservoirs. In the spring the Pre-Spawn bass will be looking to move out of deeper water and on to shallower spawning type structure. Your first contact with these fish will be on the drop off break line that has direct access to shallower bars, or drop offs that have breaks leading to shallower bars. Look for different structure big chunck rock to pea gravel, or even shallow water shelves that are flat and have smaller scattered rock. In the spring the big girls are looking for safe, shallower areas out of the wind with hard bottoms to do their thing. I am sure your lake has many places like this.

When American citizens start calling the Red White and Blue an eyesore we have failed. Here's to the Colonel, way to defend your flag Sir.
  5. You might want to check that against the GPS in your finder, my speedometer usually shows about a 4 mph difference. 57 with a 115 moving that kind of weight would be really fast.
  6. 57 seems pretty fast, is that on the speed O or GPS?
  7. It is not even so much the top end, my boat with me in it and a little fuel, some fishing gear will run 51GPS once it gets on plane. The thing is I don't like the time it takes to for the nose to come over. If that does not bother you then the 115 may be big enough, but I am going to bet with a couple of guys a tank of gas and some fishing gear and you are not going to like it much.
  8. Good point, must of had Daiwa on the brain.
  9. I have a little older but very similar boat in the Nitro 882DX, it has the 115 on it. If there is one piece of advice I could offer you from a guy that uses this boat often, it would be to get the 150. You will be happy you did.
  10. Cool, sounds like you got it figured out, take it back, or send it to Lews for warranty claim.
  11. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search_catalog_command.cmd?fromProductSearch=true&item1=wws-13-6080 Looks like another new Tatula reel under the Cabela's label. The link up top will take you the specifics, has a few more bearings than the Type R and comes in an 8.1 gear ratio.
  12. So lets start over. Turn the magnetic brakes completely off, turn them down to zero. Set your spool tension by adjusting the spool tension cap ( the one by the handle ) tight enough that when the rod is held up and the spool disengaged that the bait drops slowly to the floor. Turn the magnetic brake dial up to about a 7 or 8 and then give it a nice smooth easy cast. See how that works out.
  13. Its a good point, and you are more than likely exactly correct.
  14. What problem are you having with the reeling?
  15. Oh, OK thanks for your help....
  16. They are the same thing. Cast control cap = Spool tension knob.
  17. Add the stress of having to manage the company and make a profit and it sounds about the same.
  18. You have a magnetic brake reel, they help more on the end of the cast than at the beginning. You need to turn the brakes up high and try to make a smooth short cast, don't whip the rod and snap your wrist, just a nice easy cast. Once you get the feel for a easy smooth casting motion start backing the brakes off and your distance will increase.
  19. Loosen the spool tension, tighten it only tight enough to keep the spool from moving back and forth in the frame. Use your thumb to stop the bait from falling when you depress the thumb lever. I have seen many reels that will not hold heavier weights from falling with the spool tension alone.
  20. At any rate there should have been around 30 seconds added back to the clock that they missed also.
  21. What about the two or three steps he made towards the end zone with the ball in his left hand?
  22. First of all let me say that I don't have a dog in this fight, my team is the KC Chiefs and while they had a good season did not make it to the playoffs. So I have been watching the replay of this over and over and still can not understand how this was not ruled a catch. Yes I have read the rule and heard the officials explanation of the reversal of the original call that it was a catch and down inside the 1 but I don't agree. Now before you get to riled up, I am aware that my opinion means little but I am still going to put it out there. As I watch this play develop the coverage is good, but Bryant out leaps the defender and clearly has both hands on the ball above his head. He lands with both feet in bounds and then moves the ball from over the top of his head to his left hand takes at least two steps, then reaches out with the ball in his left hand and arm to try and break the plane of the goal line. In my mind the reception was made as soon as both feet hit the ground and he made a foot ball move taking two steps towards the end zone. The fact that the ball came loose when he hit the ground would then be irrelevant because we all know the ground can't cause a fumble and his knees were certainly down. Great game, come down to the wire with a contested play being the difference. I don't *** the position of the official who made the call, and I applaud his courage, but being able to watch this in slow motion from multiple angles, I think he negated one of the best catches under pressure this year.
  23. I have been using the Little John baits for a few years now. I enjoy them, they get to depth quickly, run very true, and have strong bills. A color that I have found to be productive in dirty water is Old Glory, while I don't care for the way it looks so much, the fish seem to enjoy it and it has produced fish on several occasions. These are a quality bait, you could do a lot worse.
