Airboat Tour Guide Captain Gets Hand Eaten By Gator...
I personally have no tolerance for this. Sorry...They feed the alligators and I get aggressively stalked while bank fishing. Gators who aren't fed by humans generally leave when people are around. We couldn't even get close enough for a decent picture way back in the Suwannee swamps because those gators don't get fed! It's a known fact. I feel sorry for the gator.

C24 Canal In Port Saint Lucie Anyone?
Anyone fish there? I think we are going to be off Carlton Road. I guess I will be bank fishing. I doubt we will be hauling the canoe. Thanks!

Still Looking For My Slobapotamous Rex...
Yea I hear ya. That was the first thing I yelled was someone get my phone lol. You should see I have a pic of it thrashing on the boat because da** it I was getting a picture lol. We were on the same type of boat and I did notice the side that was ice down in the cooler lost more color than the side that was with other fish that were caught. I "thought" their color was a product of neurotransmission so it faded when they got stressed or died although I never researched that...it was what I was told. That is why I was so surprised this one still had color at the dock. I will always take pictures...gives me something to look at when I am working and would rather be fishing lol

Still Looking For My Slobapotamous Rex...
I made sure to get a pic asap before she lost her color. Surprisingly the color held pretty well on mine because she was still colored up when we got her to the dock.

Psh your mahi is bigger! I will take that any day lol.

Still Looking For My Slobapotamous Rex...
Here are my salties...My Mahi, Bonnet head and Trout. I didn't get a pic with the bonnet head because we had a child on the boat who unfortunately got scared by a wild trout that hit him in the chest when someone was holding it so I was afraid of doing the same with the shark lol.

Still Looking For My Slobapotamous Rex...
I DO have photos of those too. I failed to mention my junk fish lol. Let me start by saying Friday I was affectionately termed the "cat lady". I was fishing exactly the same set up as everyone else. They were catching trout and I was catching...catfish...a lot of them :/ People switched positions with me, switched poles with me, I fished the same way they did...cats. It was ridiculous. My redeeming moment was that I caught the most variety of fish on the boat that day. Cats, Jacks, Trout (no keepers that day of course) and Ladyfish. Saturday I made an announcement to the group that all day I wanted to catch cats...trout were common and crappy. I caught the first trout of the day, a sand trout and caught my keeper trout for the day and NO cats lol. The coolest thing I caught was a 30 inch bonnet head shark. That was a blast.

Still Looking For My Slobapotamous Rex...
...or whatever you want to call the big ones lol. Thanks to the help of this board we have made a lot of progress in our fishing especially with our limitations of shore or canoe fishing. The last two weekends I have been out in the saltwater with some friends. Caught up some trout, mahi and kingfish along with the usual junk fish lol. This weekend we stuck to residential ponds since water everywhere else is moving. I did catch up a few although I think the biggest was only 2#. I will find the big one one day!

Doin' it...playing hookie next Friday and leaving South Florida for Suwanee. Hoping to catch some trout but really hoping to get some redfish because...well because I've never caught one lol. If anyone has any pointers on the reds let me know! Thanks!

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
Thank you evrgladesbasser. Yes we got out there super early and we were out by noon We were thinking of doing the Holey Lands tomorrow.

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
Fishing is my peace and has been since I was a teenager and while I prefer to catch fish, just being out there really is never a loss for me. Now that I am giving freshwater a go the thing that also clears my head is organizing my tackle boxes...it's the strangest thing.

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
Thanks for the support! Trust me, I do not give up on fishing...I was ready to go out to the Holey Land area today after Blue Lagoon. The bf however, is another story lol. I just can't handle the canoe myself so if he doesn't stay interested then I am going to be stuck bank fishing entirely. We did just start in August I would say. Before we really "got into it", we used to fish Corbett and we would catch all the time...nothing big, but it kept him interested. Now I think our goals have changed a little and we are in that awkward part of the learning curve.

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
...and my bf is about to quit all together :/ We got up this morning at 4:30 and hauled the canoe down to Blue Lagoon ramp in Miami as was suggested in a previous thread I posted. We got there at 615ish. We fished the more natural area on the Southeast side of the lagoon, then we fished along the dolphin expressway on the rocks and lilly pads. We crossed back over fishing along throwing everything we had - Zara Spooks, KVD sexy frogs, rapalas, yozuri floating minows, and some flukes...We even went over to the west side into I guess that is Tamiami canal? NOTHING...we saw big fish, we saw little fish but we had no action. I actually got a new frog set up as was suggested in my other thread and it totally changed my presentation and it was so much better but NOTHING I feel like the more I learn the worse my fishing is getting lol. We had such high hopes today I guess. I even snarled up my new reel in my frustration. I enjoyed it down there...it was much nicer than I expected and it would seem as if we should at least get a bite lol. The bf started to complain about how this just doesn't seem worth the work we put into it anymore...I tried to throw him overboard but it's hard to do in a canoe without sacrificing yourself lol. Sorry I guess I needed to vent.

WTG! I love your enthusiasm!

South Florida...broward County
Thank you guys! One last question...we have never been down to Holiday Park. Is that somewhere you can fish from shore or canoe?
-
South Florida...broward County
Oh...I forgot one important thing...we prefer not to be urban fishing. I like to relax when I am fishing and the smell of exhaust and car noise doesn't really gel lol. We may try that out of desperation though thanks!!!

South Florida...broward County
Hey everyone. We are looking to head south to do some fishing but we don't know where. We would like to catch bass and peacocks if possible. Keep in mind we are boatless so we could only fish from shore or by canoe. Any ideas of decent areas considering our restrictions? We don't know anyone down there so community lakes are out for us too. TIA.
