Sounds like everyone had a good weekend but is . I have frog-itis and now I can't put it down despite not catching. Lovely. We went to a new sweet place. We didn't even cover the whole area. I did catch a small guy on a lizard and missed a few on lizard and frog. Hoping for a miracle next weekend!

Thank you! I could guess my drag probably needed to be tighter. I def have good braid on. I for SURE waited on the one. He pulled it down into the canal but I may not have set as hard as I should. I appreciate it!!! I was using a spro frog but I have my eye on the one you mentioned lol.

I just had it set up on a 7' Penn Rod that I picked up a while back on sale at Dick's lol. It's the only one I have that has a decent backbone to it. I have 50lb braid on it annnnnd it is a spinning rod. I don't know how to fish with a bait caster yet. I was using a black and yellow spro frog. Any suggestions are appreciated! I am still learning a lot. I am hoping to get a new set up for Christmas but I am going to probably make a separate thread for that just to get opinions. That is if we don't get one next week when bps opens hahaha.

OMG what an exciting and disappointing evening all in one! I ran by a couple new places on the way to a regular spot. Of course they were no trespassing and since I was by myself in the Nissan I skipped them. I got to a regular spot and jump out of the car with two set ups - my usual wacky rigged senko and a frog. I march right up to the bank, not paying attention which is not like me, and there is a huge splash! I surprised this ornery gator that hangs out in the area. He was not pleased. He came up mid canal looking irritated. I started throwing my frog and then he started bothering me. I literally had to get aggressive to get him to go away. He came back one more time and I just let him have it and he left for the night. Still alone, I was fishing my frog and I kid you not I must have had 15 hits on my frog!!! Mind you, I still don't know how to use it lol. The first one scared the crap out of me because I was still wigged out about the gator. I was blown away! I finally calmed down to try to use it properly. I cast out across the canal and instantly got a hit. I let him take it before "setting the hook" which apparently I still didn't do because about mid canal he spit the frog :/. My SO, his daughter and a friend of ours showed up. Our friend was fishing a t-rigged watermelon worm and caught a 12" and a 13". I got a few bites on a t-rigged watermelon and red worm but somehow missed those too. The exciting part was I really got into my frog! I would fish a worm for a bit but I really wanted to catch one on my frog and I was using it instead of bailing on it. The bad part was I didn't catch a d**n thing lol. Sorry for the story but it was a fun evening and I learned a lot!

Went to two new spots tonight. They were ok. Caught some small guys. One on a wr senko and one on a lizard. I'm not going to be able to fish much at night anymore with my commute and the early darkness :/

Lol I have another one somewhere...I think I was using some topwater hard bait or something and my lure was bigger than my bass which was even smaller than that one in the pic. I always say that was my first bass but I think I caught my first on a cane pole.
