I fished mine twice and it's been on the shelf since. It's a great reel make no mistake but I much prefer the 15 Aldebaran 50 because it does everything a little bit better.

The inductor is supposed to rotate slighty. I'm not sure what difference that would make. The one thing I notice about the SV spools are that they are pretty shallow. So the overall spool weight with line would be lighter which helps with lighter lures.

I've got them both and it's Metanium all day. The SV spool in the SS reminds me of the Shimano 50 spool in performance. But you can set up the metanium spool to operate virtually thumbless as well.

I'm going to guess that the spool will be heavier in the citica

The MGX is actually the first Gen 3 Revo model. Its got a much lighter and shallower spool. Its target when it came out was the Core 50. The Rocket has the dual braking system, aluminum frame and side plates, and according to TT, a much stronger drag, and of course its heavier but still not very heavy by todays standards.

I see the handle side plate is a little different it looks like. I wonder what the spool weighs... Ill bet its about a gram or 2 heavier to separate the performance for lighter lures like the previous gen curados and citicas

Seeing as the new Citica has the S3D spool as well your post makes no sense. The Curado and Citica have shared the same platform for a few generations now so this new Citica shouldnt be a surprise to anyone. If you don't like them don't buy them, simple as that.

The only thing Abu designed and has Doyo incorporate in the Revos is the IVCB brakes(not surprisingly Doyo came out with their own version which Lews uses) and the Infini spool design. Everything else they pick from what Doyo has available.

Don't forget Banax, they make Quantum's, ***, and Okumas

I like the new one better. Its smoother and casts light lures better. It is a little noisier on the cast though. But yeah, get the old one while you can. The new one while be around awhile, and the yen seems to keep dropping.

Obviously my point is that the amount of bearings doesn't make one reel better than another, its the design and engineering. And that LEWS has to be cheaper and offer more than Shimano to compete in the free market.

I have a Team Lite actually. I has 11 bearings, and my Aldebaran 50 with only 10 bearings is better in every way. Oh and I have a Calais DC too... worth every penny of $650.

No, your previous point was that a 10 ball bearing reel was better than a 5 ball bearing reel. So the ball bearing count is what constitutes what reel is better than another reel according to your flavor of Kool Aid. Shimano never had and ad campaign trying to claim they are the "holy grail" of fishing. This perception was earned through decades of quality reels. There are tons of guys on here with 20+ year old Shimanos still going strong today. And of course you choose to ignore the points I made. Let me try to break it down for you. If the top of the line Lews reel costed $650, would you buy it over a Calais DC? Hell no.. and neither would most anglers. To compete, Lews has to undercut Shimano on price and give you a perception of extra value by loading up their reels with cheap ball bearings that probably cost pennies to the manufacturer. Is this a bad thing? no, but does it make them better than a similar Shimano or Daiwa with less bearings? NO. But hey, loading up a reel with cheap ball bearings is a marketing tactic that fools the sheep, Congrats to Lews on that lol
