Would work just fine. Probably better than on your baitcaster, as line with that small of a diameter could lead to digging issues.

If you want to paint a reel and have it look even halfway decent without screwing up the reel, it's a long process. You have to break the reel down to its frame, sand off the old paint, be careful not to get overspray on critical or you'll ruin the fit between the sideplates and frame. Most folks that do it seriously use a high quality automotive paint and a quality clear coat. More to it than a can of spray paint.

If it were me, I'd look at the Daiwa Tatula. You can find them at $100 all day long and it'd completely blow away those other two reels you have. There's not really a better reel for that little money from anywhere else.

Most of the guys I fish with do the exact same thing...maybe all of them. I fish with all my handles on the right side. I'm naturally left-handed, but used my right for a long period of time when I had surgery on my left wrist. Now, I am just as capable with my right, if not more. I can cast with both, but prefer to retrieve with my right hand.

The Pflueger has a 6-pin centrifugal system inside the non-handle sideplate. There won't be an external adjustment, but you actually have to open the reel to turn the brakes on and off. Usually there's 3 on, 3 off, from the factory. As far as custom painting, it's expensive, typically isn't that durable, and you can't paint the spool. In the same price range, I much prefer the Curado I or Daiwa Tatula over the Revo SX. They feel more solid, more refined, and I MUCH, MUCH prefer the braking systems over that of the Revo.

Not uncommon for blanks to have a slight curve. Won't hurt anything. At the same time, you paid money for a proper rod, so if it bugs you I'd ask for replacements.

I like to try different retrieves. Some times I have to let the frog sit, other times they hit it moving quickly. If you're walking it, try different cadences as well. I usually don't catch much on frogs, but the few hits are worth it.

Smoother retrieve, more refined build, and some have more dynamic features. Depending on what you're looking at it could be better braking systems, lighter spool, lighter overall, better bearings, or a whole slew of other things. If you had a particular model in mind, it'd be easier to make comparisons and show differences.

6'3 medium Abu Vendetta. I think it'd work well. Definitely recommend much lighter line though like 10-12lb. 15-20 hybrid is like weed whacker string. Lighter line will give better action and more distance. I prefer a mod-fast for them, but a fast will work. Some people like a faster rod to get a little more tip action.

That line has a coating on it to make it "slick." It also makes it easier for the line to dig into itself.

My stepdad helped me a lot with this. I still only cast overhead when I have to, but I can manage. He told me not to cast toward my target, but to aim in the sky above it. It has worked for me. I used to slam some lures 15ft in front of me, I at least get some air under them now.

It will be fine. Abu offers an extended length handle to make it even less cumbersome, if you wanted.

I would agree with that. I am admittedly not an Abu guy though. Tried pretty much all of them and the only one I could really stand was the Gen2 Premier, even though you could scratch the paint by looking at it too hard.

The shock has nicer guides. Either rod works with braid, mono, fluoro, or whatever.

Used one spool and it was ok. Casted well and seemed strong. First time I got near cover it showed its weakness. I couldn't throw one cast without it fraying terribly. Took it off that night.

There's a bearing under the handle on top of the AR-bearing that was really rough when I got mine. I believe that bearing is what gives it "air rotation." I flushed it and oiled it good, no more issues.

The new ones are pretty nice little reels. I still prefer the older model. It was heavier, but had nicer features and a smoother retrieve. Especially liked the MagZ on the older one. The new one is basically a Lexa with more plastic and cheaper bearings.

Adding weight to the butt cap doesn't reduce sensitivity, it reduces "perceived" sensitivity. It'd be like if you're holding a small hammer straight out and someone taps the handle with a stick, you're going to feel it immediately. If you're holding a 30lb sledge with one hand and someone taps it, you're going to be straining with the weight more so you may not even notice the stick. It doesn't make one more or less sensitive. The only way to deaden the sensitivity of a rod is to add weight to the blank ahead of the reel seat. All of the fancy wraps, winding checks, foregrips, etc. dampen vibrations from reaching your hand. Of course, that's an extreme example with the hammers and fishing rods you're typically talking no more than a 5oz difference between a heavy and light combo. It's true that the lighter combo will give you a slightly better sense of what's going on, but adding an ounce to a rod isn't going to make enough difference for most folks to be able to feel it. Me personally, a couple of my favorite reels are the heaviest I own and have the biggest palming profile. I don't think I have ever had any reel that I thought was uncomfortable to hold or anything, because I just use it; never even though to worry about how it felt in my palm. I can tell the difference when I pick up my Expride/SS SV that only weighs about 9.5oz with line, it's definitely a "wow, that's light" moment. After a days fishing with some of my heavier stuff, I forget all about it though. I just fish with it.

The Sustain only weighs a little over an ounce more, might actually balance better. It also has the magnumlite rotor and an even smoother retrieve. I actually liked the Sustain enough that I sold me Stella FE, because I couldn't justify spending double when the Sustain was so good. The key to the decision is figuring out whether the difference in price is worth it for a minimal set of features and slightly better build quality. The CI4+ has 99% of the same features from the Sustain. About the only difference performance-wise is an extra bearing in the knob and a bearing under the spool, then the aluminum body. The other neat thing with the Sustain is the little kickstand. Doesn't seem like it would be that great, until you use it. I like to keep my reels looking nice and it does a good job of keeping it protected from boat rash, rocks, and whatever else you may set your reel down on.

The Sustain is the better reel. However, if you add a couple bearings to the CI4+, it's essentially the same reel with a carbon frame. I still prefer the Sustain, but I'd buy another CI4+ before I bought another Sustain. The FJ is a great reel, but I prefer the CI4+ over it as well. The CI4+ is quite a bit lighter and has a much lighter rotor, making the handle rotation very light and free. Helps when you're finesse fishing and trying to pick up those very subtle strikes.

If you can find a previous model Cabelas Prodigy, it'd be a fit. Magnesium reel that was selling for about $60 on closeout.

"Technique specific" may be the biggest crock in all of fishing. I'm sure it sells a ton of rods though.

Probably not ideal tip for casting a frog. Depending on the reel, it'd be serviceable. Should handle flipping just fine.

I prefer triangle bashing, because it has a point.I prefer the Tatula over all the Lews I've tried; including the Tourney Pro. For me, I prefer the Type R for another $35, but the Tatula at $100 is a deal. The T3 Ballistic is $93 right now with the memorial day sale, stupid price for that reel as well.
