I am going to save all future rod & reel money in a intelligent way. I will take a LMB and a SMB with me whenever I want to buy another rig. A YES from BOTH of them ? I buy.

So the smarter fishes will refuse to bite the hooky. Leaving the person going thru 20 rods and setups and MAYBE convincing the fish ? The fish is far smarter.

Thanks WRB. I have not checked the bail in decades. I use 6#braid & tiny 1 1/2" long Rapalas on it. Might be a lite enough load to survive. Will check it.

All my reels have loaded spare spools. Piece of cake for a big pike grabbing SMB while coming in.

In and out sliding of the spool is not wear. Normal due to drag being loose. I am after up & down....Left and right . Looseness DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD How old & how long has this been building up ?

DO NOT send them to ANYONE !! They get lost or stolen. I am 84 & I am still using my 300 I bought 50 ? years ago. I have NEVER OPENED it up. I simply remove the spool add a very little new 10- 30 motor oil to the shaft the spool spins on. About whenever I think it is time. DO NOT leave it anywhere. Look up the prices being asked on the web. They will out last the children. If something is floppy Carry it in carry it right out until the part arrives. The GOOD original French ones had a Counter Weight on the part with the bail pickup arm. The have NO wobble when spun very fast.

Is there a bulky plastic piece of filler under that line ? How many casting trips... Fishing days does the reel have ? Back off all the drag. Try to rock the spool in all directions. Does it have ANY loosness ?

The fish WILL REFUSE to bite. If you are not using the different rigs required by law !! ?

I used to only use Extra Limp Green Trilene30 - 40 years ago On the junk rod. Bought a large spool of 4 # Ande mono. Still am reloading with the Ande. I will die before it ends. The smaller the casting spool. The tighter it makes mono coils. Spin or bait casting. I was given 2 Ultralight sinning reels. Hopeless with mono. Only some 4 & 6# braid can be used.

I stll have 4 decades old Plano medium boxes with lures in 2 of them. 1 has engine spare parts & tools. other has full set of rain gear. They Have not started to be affected by the sun yet. Ski mentions not getting a hook in the carpet. Crush the stuck barb. Works for hooks in human skin.

I never thought of fishing for big females while they are nesting with gobies all around them. I just am not a master fisherman.

I have found that great for some time then not great is a sign of a SCHOOL of fish feeding in the area. Most land & water animals have set paths to feeding stations . Why some times you get a long time catching them at a fast rate .

Spot on. Lures HURT MY MOUTH !!!!!!!!!!! I remember what they look like & how they sound. Why when bait guys complain? There is a real severe food problem. Starving to death will bite ANYTHING. Remember that fact. Lures are designed to catch fishermen.

Great observation about eating out. They are like people that way. They eat what is always available from a infant to adult hood. I have the same setup in my local bay. Go to a different area. Different types catch more.

Makes sense to me also. I use a 1.5" Rapala & BB split shot. Same way to feel the take.

As Blue basser said................Sunlight & U V rays WILL KILL Braided VERY FAST. Those super fine STRANDS have no way to resist wearing out in day light. I left a coil of 4 # test on the outdoor table. From May to September. Could break it bare handed. If tied to any lure ring or swivel ? Useless. I carry to & from the boat every day.. It is in a bedroom dark corner. No weakening from Oct 1 to May 1.

Always a tight line To set a hook. I do not know what is happening on a slack line. Slack lines in a current and bait. MEAT to catch lunch & dinner.

Agree J Francho When I am working as fast as I can to make up for delays ? I do not talk or B S to the guy next to me.. Those Elitist's need to find a job they can handle with less stress.

Bad mind day but. I have switched to tying ANY LINE OR LEADER to the molded wire loop when the August feeding drop off occurs. The fish are well feed easier. More prone to have longer none feeding rests. Will sit on a rock bottom for hours. I have dragged all lures thru them. ZERO Put a piece of fresh caught perch on anything ? BINGO They will bite ANYTHING with perch meat or butcher scraps. Barbless is better for fast unhooking with ease. I am C & R . So I can do this easily. Edit I tie ALL Braids DIRECTLY to lures even the 60 #. Instant hits. in August. NO barbs needed for C & R.

My lure action is totally controlled by my actions. Rod line reel speed are all adjusted by me. Could I do it with a 9' fly rod or ice hole rod ? Sure For years people caught every fish year round with just a hand line. I could do it that way if needed. Yes I have had some outrageous expensive Fly rods & reels. I gave them to relatives to enjoy as much.
