  1. Try rigging it sideways for a different action. Tie a bullet weight in front of it with a bobber stopper/bead to keep it from sliding too far up. The fluke is a seriously versatile bait, don't be afraid to just try stuff!
  2. So I was at the local dicks today, and found they have expanded their Xcalibur stock. For $2.99 each! Every Xcalibur they had was $2.99. I grabbed 13 and the total was about $45 bucks can't beat over half off!
  3. Early mornings on mid temp water, I like to use the River2Sea bubble walker. It has the action of a spitting popper, and the dressed back treble hook makes it swim on the pause. Gives me more versatility.
  4. From the bank you can hook a barrel swivel on the end and hook up to something solid. Slowly walk back a good cast length and (with a bit of tension) walk forward and reel it in. The barrel swivel will rotate the twist out.
  5. Yea, it was just this past year. Ronnie is one heck of a guy! The other anglers were awesome as well, it was something else.
  6. Hard to see but the largemouth was actually smaller than the smallie! Caught them both on Pickwick. The tourney was hosted by Southern Fishing News, they hosted a group of us for a wounded warrior outing. Biggest smallmouth I have ever seen!
  7. Man you had me all kinds of excited
  8. No matter how much you know, you will still make mistakes. I fished a tourney with a guy who had 10+ years of tournament experience under his belt. And he forgot the plug when we launched! Which leads me to the next point, never give up. We were about an hour late to launch all told, and went on to win. I ended up catching my pb smallmouth at 8lbs.
  9. The way they were made, they had extra tentacles, so to speak. Only some of the innermost layer were red, so as the bait moved it would be red in differen spots. Whether or not it made a difference, I cant say, but they do look nice.
  10. Reaction innovations make a good plastic, never had a problem with them. Also like Trigger X, they have some good colors at a good price.
  11. ah the bait ball! I have been so tempted, but I just cant bring myself to buy it. It looks so purty, but for the price i could buy two xCaliburs!
  12. So apperently rapala is coming out with shallow running and deep running Scatter Raps. I haven't fished with one of the normal ones yet, but if the shallow runner does what it says I might be tempted! What do you all think?
  13. Also unrelated, this would ban "long lining" a jig or crankbait.
  14. I am all about it. I just never saw the A-rig as being very sporting. If you use and like it, hey thats fine. Its just not for me. I really do not see it as being that big of a change, either. Much past 3-4 years ago you didnt need it to win a competition, shouldnt need it now.
  15. Bobby garland scent wiggl'r In white/silver. You will catch something with it anywhere.
  16. just read the article ...somebody got caught cheeting, stuffed an 11oz weight down the gullet to win big bass
  17. The one in Nashville? If so I'm Jelous...te army decided I needed to work more than buy fishing gear
