Topwater Rod?
Depending on the manufacturer those specs should be good for bigger sammies and spooks, though I usually stick with a 6'6" or 7' for those techniques . Ive founder softer action rods can be sped a bit up with braid. You're wrists dont have to fight a stretchy line like mono to walk the dog, but you still have some give in the rod to keep a fish pinned. That rod with mono = alot of stretch and inertia to move the bait. As someone whos dang near got carpal tunnel from topwater baits, braid helps with the torque on the wrists on long casts.

When Bass are feeding on groups of tiny fry? What do you do?
Biggest tube you can find in a salt and pepper style pattern. Think of the black dots as little fry; swim it erractically along the shoreline like a small school of fish. I have some 8" musky tubes that work great.

Best Jig Trailer
Chigger craw, zoom chunks, rage craw/lobster, pacas, the ones I make. I took one of the giant bill dance rubber craw cranks from the 80's and made a plaster of paris mold. It works great on a mop jig. I dont over complicate it. Size and color are my number one priorities. Its probably just in my head but I love two tone trailers (and plastics in general). Lighter belly-darker top. If its a jig that I also swim a rage craww or twin tail grub that kicks on the drop is nice.

The Stick Bait Dilemma
Not something I normally do but its bailed me out on several times when Ive been on the water and dangerously low on a specific bait. Slice the senko down the middle the length of a hook with an exacto knife. Run a thin layer of mend it or super glue inside and pinch it neatly shut. It will make one last a long long time. If you did this with a few senkos before going out a bag lasts forever.

Best mono line out
The line between what's a called "mono" and a "copolymer" is often very thin. There aren't alot of lines that are 100% nylon mono anymore. Expand you're search to lines calling themselves a copolymer and your options explode. Most all of them loosely fish with the same very general properties and are still composed predominately of nylon and it's demonstrated in their Stretch, water absorption, resilience to revert back after being stretched ( vs flours for example) , knot strength, etc. Generally with better casting lines you'll give up some abrasion resistance. Conversely, a line geared towards toughness will generally not behave itself as well on a spool. On top of that, line diameters on tougher lines are generally thicker. So naturally if one mfg 12lb test is 10% thicker than another's, it SHOULD be more abrasion resistant and stronger. Learn to compare diameters. Read reviews and don't be afraid to experiment. Mono's pretty inexpensive. Line conditioner can make a good line that much better. .

Best top water bait for the winter
I'm a top water nut. My experience is it rarely optimal, but if fish are shallow for whatever reason in cold water you can catch em up top. I've had good luck with a broken back rapala fished slow. But again it's not the best way to skin a cat and something I did in my formative years. A pause, jerk, pause retrieve with those jointed rapalas sure saved some skunks before I "knew better" lol. A buzz bait in the EARLY prespawn is a pattern that will catch some absolute toads. The biggest females move up earlier than most people start "fishing" for the year...I caught 3 fish over 8lbs wearing coveralls doing this once on febuary.

Warming up the spool in the water
In my view thats more for spinning reels that tend to have line management issues with mono more and more as the diameter increases. Baitcasters often having bearings on the spool, brake systems, etc. Probably won't hurt anything if dried, but no need to do it. IMO if you're having that much trouble on youre Baitcasting rig, try some line conditioner and letting line out and ever so gently stretching it out. Make sure the problem isn't on the user's casting (everybody's been there) or the way the reel is spooled. It all else fails try another line.

TV/Movie Reboots...Is Nothing Sacred?
Don't watch much actual TV, cut the cable and stream through several outlets. Was flipping through over the air channels a couple weeks back and there was a cop/crime or doctor show on literally every single one of the big networks. Every one. How can anyone keep greenlighting that crap?

The Birth Of 10-Foot Bass Rods...
I'm all for it. I have used a 9' saltwater rod for bombing trap baits for years (ask me how to spool a curado ). One of those rules I never understood anyway. Will be interesting to see how they implement. Perhaps reach normally hard to reach fish. Would be cool to get surgical and reach into a laydown or dock with a 10' broomstick.

Is it safe to use acetone for AR bearing?
Acetone works great, just watch what you put it in. Glass baby food jars are great. I used to always put bearings in a little plastic contact case with other products. Used Acetone in it once and won't make that mistake again

Rod, reel, lure and line you caught your PB bass on.
11.4 lbs, 27 3/4" x 16:...Curado E7 and St Croix Avid 7' Med pwr fast action. Trying out the alberto leader knot for the FIRST time that day using 30lb braid (forget which kind, probably spiderwire stealth as I got a bulk spool cheap) and a 12lb yozuri hybrid leader. Managed to get her away from a laydown out into open water. There she found and wrapped the line on a horizontal log directly in front of the boat that I didnt know was there. For what seemed like an eternity I had to listen to the tensioned piano wire like "twing, twing, twing" sound of that fish rubbing the line. With a new leader knot that I didnt trust, a med action rod, frayed line, I couldnt do much as far as leaning on the fish. I just stood there talking and audibly petitioning our creator to let me get her in. After what seemed like forever (but was likely all of 20 seconds) the line goes slack, I quickly reel up and thank God almighty she was still on. Seemingly I'm not one to catch a break hunting and fishing. Have a buddy who randomly hooks into 4' gar on crappie jigs, has trophy deer approach while hes dropping a deuce, etc. He was broke once and played the lotto on his last 5 bucks. Won $750... Horse shoe in both pockets. I have to go after it hard and put in time and pay close attention to gear and whatnot. But that day things went my way. The alberto knot has been a staple in my arsenal ever since.

Rebel crawdad
As good a multispecies, "catch something" bait as you can throw. Pike and smallies love them. If you watch one run, the action is pretty unique and doesnt blow out in current. I got away from them for some reason, but this thread brings back memories of chucking them for smallies in the rocks of the james. Caught a 34lb Catfish on one once. Id love to have a bigger version of the regular craw that ran around 4'.

Braided line and using a sharpie... I don't get it
I just run the line over a spike it marker as it fades. Never understood caring enough about line visibilty to run a sharpie over the line but not caring about the strong smell off a sharpie potentially giving negative cues to fish.

Lucky Craft Flash Pointer Saltwater
Ive thrown the 130 a fair bit for bass. Individual user and body of water not withstanding, Ive been unimpressed with the action and catching. They look good and cast okay, but the 2 I bought were unproductive. I have one flat adjacent to a big channel that big fish stack up on, early and later in the summer. You can basically throw any bigger jerkbait/slash bait and get crushed by 5-10lbers (private lake), never a bite on the 130 in that or the other scenarios. IMHO theres a need for quality bigger jerkbaits that hasnt totally been fufilled. Baits like Long A's work, but have unrealistic finishes and lack of weight transfer limit casting. If youre looking for big fish, ESPECIALLY if shad are around the Xrap 12 or discontinued (I think, havent looked in a while) 14 in glass ghost are my absolute confidence bait. Something about that big white lure that draws fish. The new, large megabass vision from Icast does look like it may be the bait many of us have been waiting for.

UFC update...spoilers
Losing a decision to the longest running, most dominate champion in history who is also extremely motivated after getting caught doesn't prove anything. Edgar still matches up well with Connor. He's not on aldo's level but he's beat a lot of big names in the sport.

Duramax vs Cummins
Having used both towing trailers over many miles, up and down mountains, urban traffic, long dirt roads, etc for my money I'd go duramax if nothing else because of the transmission mated to it. Admittedly I'm not well versed in the latest model. I know you didn't ask about the fords but my personnel experience among the big 3 has been: Most gens of the powerstrokes have been great. The super duty's do tend to have front end issues that get surprisingly expensive. The turning radius is better (I have a 2015) than the older models, but not comparable to the chevys or dodges Ive had. Rams. The cummins are great. Historically crappy transmissions. (I had to put 3 on two reasonably low mileage trucks so sore subject for me). Fit and finish not quite as nice as other high end competitors IMO. Duramax. The "smoothest" of the big 3 IMO. The turn, ride, and sound are more car like if that makes sense. Not a lot of glaring issues historically. I had a 08', really liked it. The motors lack the diesel rumble of the fords and dodges IMO.

What Conditions For Redbug Color Soft Plastics ?
They'll get bit anytime and I'm not overly adamant about color, but I've noticed a yearly late winter- early spring bite that red plastics are remarkably more effective. I've noticed bright red colored newts and some crayfish that resemble the color.

Rebel
The craws are one of my all time favorite catch anything baits. Very unique and underrated action. Great price, consistently run right, and actually look like a crawfish. Lots of great memories with the crick hopper popper. Gotta watch the hooks with braid because big fish will hit them.

Question for owners of Falcon Bucoo Spinning rods
As far as weight rating your fine throwing 1/8 shakey head and worm, but as stated it's a more moderate rod. Not the best for bottom dragging plastics. Makes for a mean bandit 100 or rebel crayfish rod though. X2...I've noticed Fenwick is getting to be the same way. I love a 7' Medium power fast action. More and more moderate spinning rods these days, especially $100ish or less.

Road To The Super Bowl 2016!
Time will tell, but Dallas may have stolen one in Prescott. I wanted him all along. He has alot of traits to like, he has an extremely quick release, strong arm, smart, doesnt turn the ball over, well regarded as a leader, and obviously is built like a fire hydrant; a really athletic/strong fire hydrant. That team as a whole was often over matched talent wise in a brutal division of a brutal conference, but he kept them in alot of games. He may never be a consistent 400 yard a game passer but as long as he doesn't have to be the man he has the upside of a guy that can go on the road and win a playoff game or two or convert a tough 3rd down when needed. There is work to be with done with him, but with a clean pocket (their line got killed in 15' and I think that marred his tape a bit) and play makers around him I truly think this is a guy who you can win football games with.

UFC update...spoilers
Dude its one of the deepest divisions in the UFC. Thats how it works. You can't fight for the belt every time. Things have to play out, and when the champ fights once a year like Aldo did in 2015 it takes time. I guess if you define relevant as headlining a pay per view, then yeah he may not be in casual fans minds due to McGregor and Aldo getting all the recent attention and year of hype for their fight. Many of us us knew Anthony Johnson was the man to fight Jones all along, but we never got the fight due to the logjam of "deserving" guys. As for edgar, being ranked in the top 3 in an increasingly deep class with your last loss coming at the hands of arguably the most dominant champion in MMA history means you are LEGIT. Though I think Aldo held the strap so long he deserves a rematch. Perhaps edgar's recent knock out of Chad Mendes, who is an absolute monster and took Connor into very deep water with no camp whatsoever gives the guy a reason to think he can be there. Connor can definetely catch him, but Mendes exposed McGregor' weaknesses. Edgar is a bad matchup for Connor as hes not just gonna come forward and trade with him. I'd root for McG, but Frankie would be my 50/50 pick to win the fight.

UFC update...spoilers
Frankie Edgar hasn't lost a fight in 3 years, and some of the guys hes beaten in that time are Chad Mendes, Uriah Faber, BJ Penn and Cub Swanson. The last time he lost was to undefeated Aldo in the middle of a decade long, win streak the greatest mma has seen. He has an insane pace, elite wrestling, near perfect positioning, tremendous heart, fights smart, and is a complete fighter. I don't really care about him either way, but he has every right to "think he's relevant".
