  1. It depends on what you want to do with it. Detctors are a bit like golf clubs, right tool for the job kind of thing though many are quite versatile. You don't HAVE to spend 2K. Depth on most VLF's don't get much better after you go over a grand. A $200 rod vs a $400 is a good analogy. That said here's a few to look into. XP Deus- best ergonomics weighs nothing, totally wireless, upgradeable via ur pc, covers ground fast. Best trashy site machine out there IMO, "Machine of the future" so to speak, made in france, I didn't like the audio sounds like a mosquito, target ID on deeper targets like alotta single frequency machines isn't great on deep targets Minelab CtX 3030- pretty much the premium coin machine, if u like silver coins this is THE Machine, Waterproof, heavy but balanced, very very accurate target ID, great audio, a bit overpriced IMO, not that great on lower conductors like very small gold, very durable machines but some dont like minelabs customer service, Whites V3I- Great all around unit, excels on jewelry, best pinpoint mode out there, fun machine to use, great on jewelry my gold jewelry has went thru the roof since I got mine, slightly worse in trash than the other two, great american company with the best service out there If you have a specific enviroment and or targets I can make a specific reccomendation. Be warned, this is the most addictive hobby out there lol
  2. Ace 350 is a good entry machine. It shares the same coil as its wildly popular brother the at pro. I'm not a fan of the bell tone audio personally. That said, I'd save a little more and get an at pro, water proof and picks through trash much better. I'm not a garret guy but nothing comes close to it in the price range. You can find plenty of used but not abused for 450-500. Feel free to ask qny questions. Been detecting for a long time and I'm constantly tweaking my arsenal of machines.
  3. Free time and soft lifestyles is why this happens. Kids used to go to work and do hard labour at much earlier ages. No time for this stupid BS when you were tired from working. With respect to the forum religon policies; I had an uncle that always said idle hands are the devil's work shop. Truer now than ever.
  4. Good game. Dallas should have won and they did. Giants had alot to play for and showed up. Dez bryant molested those corners. Williams and Romo have a good repoire going and Escobar finally got some redzone looks. If not for witten he could easily be a top 5-10 TE. His blocking is coming along. Scott Linehan has alot of weapons at his disposal. They are a hard team to scheme against for sure
  5. That young line is going to keep them legit for the next half decade barring injury. Its the perfect way to dictate how a game is played and protect youre D. They are calling it the great wall of Dallas.
  6. It's bad this year for sure. I've watched Dallas get robbed off 3 possible pick 6's due to early whistles calling the play dead. Why not let them play and go to the replay if you aren't 100% sure? The ruffing the passer call gets made a bit too quickly also, I don't think a 300lb man flying through the air can stop himself if the ball beats him by inches.
  7. I love having McClain out there. Guy tackles like a 500lb Octopus. Covers pretty decent for being close to 260 and is a bull on the blitz. Its early, and he has a past but it looks like they absolutely stole one. I heard an interview where he mentioned his appreciation for Jerry personally reaching out to him, and how he was motivated by it. Hes still young so maybe hes growing up. Sterling Moore also had himself quite a game. Not sure whats up w/Mo yet, even if hes healthy I think Moore is a better player right now and deserves to be on the field, 1st round pick be darned. We've been through it before and Lord knows the league seems to love to treat us to those "playoffs start in December" schedules. The Romo era has humbled me lol and I really try not to get too high and low anymore
  8. It was a good win. They're gonna have a really good line for the next half a decade or more. Their better than folks think and getting healthier. Romo is what he is, but is getting mentally and physically sharper each week. Interested to see what Demarcus Lawrence brings once he comes back. Defense could use his speed of the edge.
  9. Basirisky frog....Sick bait
  10. You could also look for a gold carbonlite. Other than the handle theyre the same. I own a PQT, fine reel for the original price but nothing special honestly.
  11. Like the player, sick of the media talking about him. He has some skills, but he also had pretty good talent around him. That offense sent 3 guys into the top ten in the draft the last two years. Mike Evans was a grown man among boys in college.
  12. The 7' Med I own is tip heavy and dead feeling. And has had two inserts fall out....You can do much, much better IMO.
  13. If anything wintergreen may peek theyre curiosity lol.

If anyone is looking for a rifle rest, I'd highly recommend you look into these. A friend who competition shoots referred me to them a couple years ago and I purchased two. A smaller model for the stand and a larger one for sighting in my guns. They have a patent on the "X" bag design and it grips the rifle perfectly. It's really given an extremely stable platform that has improved my shooting a great deal.
  15. I had a pet bass in aquarium back in my bachelor days. Caught a few crawdads in the minnow trap and decided to see if the bass would partake in em. After 2 days they were all gone and we assumed the bass did his thing. About a week later me and my buddy are sitting on the couch after closing down the bar one night. In the far end of the room we both simultaneously catch a brief glimpse of something big crawling for about a foot and then disappear behind some furniture. Sure enough, it was a dried out carpet lint covered mudbug. I ended up finding another one in a closet dead a year later when I moved. How they got out of a covered aquarium will be one of the great mysteries of my life.
  16. Ive used 17lb seige on a dedicated squarebill rod for years and cant recall ever losing a bait. Dont have zebras but I do cast through and and intentionally over Appomattoax and James River rocks a great deal. You can try a yozuri hybrid or Pline CXX, but be warned memory can be an issue above 12lb in both lines.
  17. Thats a good point and part of my reasoning for treble hook baits starting a kid out. Alot of adults cant fish plastics lol. Walmart has the rebel kit, with the craw, crickhopper and a teeny popper thats a great start. Those crawfish are a very, very underated bait.
  18. My son is the same age and has used artificials for 3 years now. One thing I've noticed is that he has a much easier time when we're in the boat or kayaks vs the bank due to the algae and miscellaneous debris at the waters edge. He does quite well with simple chunk and wind lures, predominately square bills, broken back rapalas, and this year the jitterbug. Heres a broken back rapala catch from last summer.
  19. Im a bit of a buzzbait fanatic...I own white and chartruese buzzers, but Black is pretty much all I throw.
  20. I concur with everything you said. It may be getting close to semantics, but if the plastic is just gonna lay on the bottom you may as well just use a TX rig, as it comes through cover better (especially wood). You also can use different hooks like EWG's, offsets, etc. Will definetely try the lighter trick, Id read that a while ago and completely forgot it.
  21. The squarebills certainly are.
  22. Not a big elaztec fan, but the zman shakeyhead worms are becoming a favorite. They standup better than anything Ive used and are very durable. Only downside is its darn near impossible to put them on a screw type keeper.
  23. I tried it in the past and was pleased. Found that the 10lb behaved itself well on a baitcaster for a "less stretchy" nylon. I believe the current line is a new formula. No experience with it.
