  1. I'm from Minnesota and since Rapala is a Minnesota based company, I know for a fact that Rapala sponsors a lot of local pro's and am's. I fished in a Gander Mountain Pro/Am Bass event with the Rapala sales rep., I believe his name is Mark Fisher. His home lake is Lake Minnetonka and he does many shows with the Lindners family in Minnesota. I would suggest you stay away from Rapala as a potential sponsor because you need to have an "in" with Rapala to even be suggested for sponsorship. We have some high standards up here in Minnesota. ;D
  2. Usually when it comes to a non-boater in the ABA, I have experienced that they are very unskilled individuals and that they are just looking to fish with somebody that has a boat. The non-boaters in the ABA events, usually aren't finishing with the top 20 guys. If by chance there is someplace in the ABA events that a non-boater is waxing everyone, then it's time for him to get a boat and fish on the boater side, since it's the same price.
  3. NO WAY should you bring all your rods, unless you have only 6. There isn't much room in the back of the boat for the co-angler. 14 rods and ALL of your tackle isn't needed by far. 6 rods will suit a co-angler fine, because for the most part they will only be throwing 3 to 4 different kinds of lures, most notably a senko. If you brought all your tackle, you wouldn't have any place to put it besides at the bottom of the lake. For one, why would you bring all your tackle to the pro's boat. You should have a general idea of what the bass should be doing and if you downsize your tackle choices during tourney day, you should have better success because your not digging through your tackle looking for the next bait to get wet, especially one that you have zero confidence in. A rain suit is a must, bad weather can come up at any time. Do not try to tell the Pro where to go fish. He is in full control of the boat. The only time you should say something is if the day has been rough and he asked you for any ideas. Most of the time, the pro will talk about other spots if your a local fisherman. So he will use them, but if you mention those spots and he doesn't go there, even if you got skunked, do not be ticked. He has more at stake than you did in that tourney. Also, if you go to your spots with him, expect him to visit them at another time or year. It's bad practice to steal other fishermen's spots, but it happens when that much money is on the line.
  4. I had the exact same problem. That click is the exact same thing I had. I was in a tournament and everything was working great. I let off the pedal and went back to it a split second later and I had nothing except, CLICK. Your trolling motor isn't getting enough juice to make it work, because of the mildew buildup on the post. Clean off your posts really good and everything should work perfect for you again. Your breaker should be located right by the battery, maybe a foot up the positive wire cable. Like I said, I bet if you clean off those posts, you will be back in business. Get a good wire brush and clean everything that is metal that comes in contact with those posts, even the post itself. You won't get any shock from it, so don't worry about electrocuting yourself. Just dig in and clean those posts.
  5. All great responses. I would recommended cleaning the connections on the battery posts. I know I have had the problem before, where I keep getting some white mildew buildup on one of my posts and it cuts off my juice to the trolling motor. When you push the pedal for your trolling motor, does it still make a noise? If so, it's most likely your connections to the battery and you should get a wire brush and polish those things up and reconnect. I'm guessing that should fix your problem. If that is the problem. I'm guessing you might have an older, smaller boat since it's only a 47lb thrust trolling motor that you might not even have a circuit breaker inbetween your trolling motor and battery connection. I'm using a Lund right now, and factory doesn't send them with a circuit breaker between them, so I had to install breakers when I upgraded to a 101lb thrust minnkota and a new Lowrance X18color locator.
  6. I would think those are "rewards offered to people that catch a POACHER that is shocking fish" Not rewards for people poaching fish.
  7. Nobody does it to catch fish. It's a way the DNR does research to see how the fish population is doing. All those numbers in your little fishing book that says how many fish they caught and how big they were, came from this type of study. How else do you want the DNR to know how the fish are doing? Get out the rods and gear and catch them how we do, that makes no sense. I'm not sure where you read that people are doing this illegally and for sport, but if so, show me the link so I can laugh at how stupid that person is.
  8. Does anyone know where I can find some of those Ninja Spin blades at? Does anybody know what size blade those Gambler Ninja Spins are...I would assume like a 4 and then the two smaller ones are 2's or 3's.... Please help.
  9. Most boat/trailers only need to back in to where the wheel fenders steps are just above or just under the water level. Another idea is to just soak half the trailer and you should be just fine.
  10. Because they lost an eye, doesn't mean they starve. They learn how to adapt. I have caught many healthy fish with only one eye ball. I know when I was a kid and had no bait left, I would do surgery on a sunfish's eyeball for extra bait. ha ha, so I know a few fish in the Minnesota Metro Area have only one eyeball.
  11. DINK, What kind of boat are we talking about here. Did you destroy a little jon boat or a brand new Ranger/Triton?
  12. Yeah, I would suggest you get a GPS asap and stand right next to those brush piles and stumps and get some coordinates for those exact locations.
  13. I read an article someplace, but I can't remember where. But it said the VMAX is a gas hog, and the HDPI is the right choice. This article said the VMAX would go through 50 gallons of gas, while the YAMAHA HDPI would eat up around 25-30 gallons on the same run.
  14. Have you read Ike's book? He says that kind of stuff goes on all the time. I have the book and don't recall reading anything like this... guide me to a page.
  15. ha ha ha...I've never even heard of LamiGlass. Is it a southern thing? I only hear about St. Croix and Kistlers up here in Minnesota/Wisconsin.
  16. What I love the most is that you guys can't write complete sentences or punctuate correctly. I'm wondering how you will do promoting your sponsors in front of people or if you have to write an article on a product you are endorsing. I wish you the best of luck in all your tournies, but I hope you spend some time learning how to correctly write sentences. Best of Luck
  17. Yeah, Charlie Moore is a complete joke. He had Chuck Woolery on the other day with his Moto Lures and I looked the lures up and they are like 12 bucks a pop. NO THANKS. I think they went to some little pond to promote the lure, cuz they were all 12 inch bass. Charlie Moore is worse than Ike.
  18. Good Job.
  19. Anyone watch this show? Very informative, they are good at explaining different things, like things that look good to them. Scott Martin, which I think is a touring pro, challenges other pros, like right now, I'm watching him fish against JT Kenney for a 5 fish bag. It's a great show, I would say it's a lot better than that crap Charlie Moore. So far my favorite Bass fishing show. You all should check it out.
  20. I would suggest you not talk about what you would do after you get a sponsorship and go out and do it without the sponsorship first then come back and put your experiences on a resume. Anyone can talk the talk, but can't back it up by doing it. It's all fine and dandy that you say you will do seminars, boat shows or practically anything else, but how would you even begin to do that stuff, I bet you have no idea. So you should maybe go do that stuff first then come back. Another thing, probably not a good idea to say that you just need to catch one break and you are sure you can make it. Doesn't sound the best. I would eliminate that whole last paragraph. Thats the one thing that stuck out to me in your whole deal you wrote. I really only skimmed it though.
  21. Okay...that fish doesn't look 7 pounds or even 5 for that matter but if you say so, what do I know. Also, if you plan on sending out resumes and/or letters for sponsorship and you plan on sending pictures, I suggest you crop that picture without that other dude in the white shirt in the picture. That will not look good for potential sponsors. Not a good look.
  22. Yeah, I got that website saved for a possible mold that I'm looking for. I believe that takes a EWG but Gamakatsu makes there's a little different so I emailed that website a few days about about if a Gammie would fit it. Thanks.
  23. I heard they are pretty expensive to get one machined... I wouldn't even know what type of place could do that sorta things, but I do know they are spendy
  24. That link is for a 90 degree hook
  25. I'm looking for a Tube Jig Mold for a 60 degree EWG Gamakatsu 3/0 hook. I'm looking for 1/16 and 1/8 oz. molds. I've pretty much looked all over the net and can't find the correct ones. Except at a place called Maumee Tackle, but I don't want to go through the process of writing down credit card numbers to a fax line. I don't trust that at all. Can anyone help me find this particular Mold that I'm looking for.
