  1. Of course they use other brands of stuff. They sure as heack won't plug them in an interview but they use whatever they want to catch fish. Heck Bass Pro sells the official KVD landing net, you ever see KVD use a net?
  2. I would not recommend fishing it between Memorial Day to Labor Day. The lake is 1000 acres and has a ton of pleasure boat and pwc pressure. Also the weeds and lily pads get so thick you can't get into the coves so you are stuck on main lake and fishing the edges. In the spring there is a tournament almost every weekend. I personally wouldn't say any particular tactic is better than another on the lake, you can catch fish on anything you throw. There are big fish in the lake and tons of little ones.
  3. I'm thinking of ordering a new Ranger. I'm caught between a 520C and a 521. Does anyone run one of these boats with a 250 Pro XS and how do you like the fishability?
  4. I had a 2003 ZX225 and loved the boat. Skeeter has a pretty fast hull design and they are very stable.
  5. Not to say this is a crazy question but I saw Ike go well all sorts of "IKE" in Major League Fishing episode and pitched right back in and catch another fish. If that doesn't effect fish then a fish finder ping sure won't.
  6. If it's as nice in person as it is in that pic $2000 is a pretty good price. Of course it wouldn't hurt to see if you could get it a little lower. Those old Evinrudes were great motors.
  7. Favorite Rod / Reel: Whatever was expensive and is now on clearance All-around line: Suffix Elite Jig / Shakeyhead / Football: Jig= War Eagle Shaky head= Spot Remover Football= War Eagle Crankbait: Strike King KVD 1.5 Finesse Bait: Zoom finese worm on a shaky head Topwater: Chug Bug Plastic No contest Baby Brush Hog Unlike
  8. The have a real spotty reputation. The ones I have seen on the range would not feed anything lighter than a 1 1/8 load at 1200 fps.
  9. The vibration and beating a boat takes, a few loose or stripped screws is very minor. I use a 2 part epoxy and fill up the hole, let is sit overnight and start over with the same size screw. There is no reason to use a bigger screw. Not defending Nitro but some problems occur because of the vibration, I have had to go through and retighten things on all new boats I have bought.
  10. Kansas, I'm pretty sure my partner is going to fish the Burton tournaments again next year but if your interested in another series I would fish with you. There are quite a few different options of series and lakes out there. If your interested let me know and we can start looking for something that interests both of us.
  11. I fish Burton's, the down side to that is most tournaments are on Smithville. I have also fished Joe Bass. Both of them draw between 35-50 boats. Are you looking for a team or draw format?
  12. Salenity, it was good to meet you also. Thanks about the boat, listening to you all talk about some of these small lakes makes me want to buy or build a smaller boat that I'm not scared to take on a gravel road.
  13. Want to say thanks to Blue for setting this up. Sounds like everyone had a good time.
  14. My wife makes pretty good potato salad. Put me down for that and I will bring some brats to.
  15. Watermelon red and green pumpkin, there is nothing else.
  16. At one point I went from a 20 ft Skeeter to a 18.5 ft Ranger. I found it easier to get around standing timber and in between boat docks, basically the fishability was just as good if not better in some cases. One downfall is the ride, if you fish a lot of big water the smaller boat is going to beat you up more. I didn't regret my desicion at all.
  17. All the lakes should be hot in mid to late October. I would also add Grand lake, it's an awesome fall fishery as well.
  18. So that's why Blue wanted it on Melvern huh? Maybe we can change it to LOZ, I know that lake pretty well.
  19. Allday, Thanks for the offer but my boat is a 24 volt. We will be fine even if it's typical Kansas wind. We can troll about 71 mph if the fish aren't biting.
  20. AllDay, sure you can hitch a ride with me.
  21. I would be game. If there is nonboater needing a boater let me know.
  22. I use a 3/0 EWG hook for most of my tube fishing.
  23. 1) Green pumpkin baby Brush Hog 2) White 3/8 oz spinnerbait 3) 3/16 shakey head with a 4" straight worm I'd rather narrow it to the top 7-10 but I could catch fish on any body of water with these 3.
  24. I use Star Tron every time I put gas in it.
