That I did know. I was told to give both a good greasing before and then a good cleaning after each dunking.

Emerald Isle, Nc... Bogue Sound Fishing??????
Heading to Emerald Isle in a few weeks and taking my boat. I plan on fishing Bogue Sound... inshore fishing. Never done that. I know I can catch flounder and bluefish. Maybe a few spots. What else? How do I fish for these? Live bait? Artificial? Similar to bass fishing? Help!!!

Thanks.

Saltwater Or Not Saltwater Merc?
So... really no difference. I take it it would be safe to say that I could use my Stratos 176XT for inshore saltwater fishing in the sound at Emerald Isle once or twice a year so long as it is rinsed properly afterwards?

Anchor Rope Storage?
I agree. I just stored my anchor and line in the bucket and leave the bucket open for a few days and let it dry. A little added work but it's what works for me.

Anchor Rope Storage?
5 gallon bucket with a lid. Most Walmarts carry them or see your local grocery store. Meat department gets lots of stuff in buckets they just throw out.

Urgent!!! Fish Are Dying And I Need Advice Asap!
Another suggestion... Do you have a local college with an Environmental based curriculum... marine biology or the like? FFA might be helpful. Any eco-friendly organizations that would volunteer bodies to help?

Who owns the ponds? Speak with the owners first and then see if Fish & Game Department will help.

Free Trokar Hooks!
I bet it did cost them but I think it was a pretty good move on their part. Really... does it cost 1 dollar to make a hook? Of course not. Probably cost them a dollar or so for every pack of hooks they sent out for free. For sake of argument... say it was 10,000 packs sent out. OK... $10,000 initial investment. (Don't have a calculator available so this is all done in my head so bear with me if I make a mistake) Say only a third of the people receiving these hooks begin to buy Trokar and buy one pack to try them again. Trokar profits $3.00 per pack. So... you are back to almost your initial investment with $9,900.00. These same 1/3rd will buy more (Really...how many times do you just buy one pack of hooks?) and say it is just 3 more packs. We are at 9900 packs at $3.00 profit for a total of $29,700.00 Now... there is a return on the investment by Trokar. This will compound based on word of mouth. Add that to say... they average only one person by word of mouth that buys 1 pack based on their recommendation... add another $9,900.00. Total profit = $39,500.00. Even if you factor in two packs per person sent... still a profit of almost 29 grand. Since Trokar is owned by one of the biggest fishing manufacturers in the world, Eagle Claw, there is nothing lost here by them. More than likely it was 100,000 people who responded so profit would be more like a quarter million bucks. I do not know how many packs of hooks they sent out or what their profit margin is but you can bet... they though this out. Anyway... it's probably from the advertising budget and any loss is tax deductible.

Penhook Ramp is where I launch 99% of the time because there is a Game Warden station there and people seem to act more courteous and less theft from vehicles.. I sometimes go to Anthony Ford or pay the 7 bucks at the State Park Ramp. Penhook is a really nice double ramp and lots of parking. Anthony... no so much. Single ramp... sorry parking... and you need to be careful not to drag your boat on the bottom. The state park is also a really nice ramp with lots of parking but you do have to pay. Biggest drawback I see... seems to be the State Park draws those with more money than sense. I watched a guy 2 weeks ago drive up with the biggest boat on a trailer I ever saw being hauled to a regular boat ramp. Looked like the SS Minnow. Big cabin cruiser IIRC it had 4 axles... maybe 3 but it was big. Guy had this big gooseneck trailer on a Ford dually trying to back this thing in. You could hear the lower units dragging. His wife was screaming at him... he took up both ramps. He gets it in the water and yanks the trailer out from under and all you hear is the crunch of fiberglass hitting the concrete. The ramp is no place to find out you have no clue what you are doing. Don't know the extent of the damage as he parks the truck.... gets on the boat and motors away. Brand new boat... brand new owner... same old idiot.

I go early in the morning and just deal with the traffic when it starts.Gets a little rough with waves but the fish don't seem to mind. Going during the weekdays seems to be best.
