Smallie With Spots
Is this what you mean by Stubnose? I caught it Friday. Thought it looked odd...

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
Mostly a KVD 2.5 Squarebill Sexy Shad slow cranked through the flats. I use a "search" pattern if I can see them or not. Just throw long and keep the bait in the water as long as possible. The big-un was enticed off the bed by a BiteItBaits Bed Bandit in watermelon red on a drop shot. It refused to bit anything else.

Smith Mountain Lake
Yup... found smallies and large on the beds. Seems like the smallies are a little ahead of the LM. Water temp was about 62.

Does Your Wife/other Groom You?
I don't work there and have no idea how... but we own a salon... hair... nails... therapeutic massage (yes... we have an certified masseuse/RN that does this). Although I know more about nails and hair than any one man should, I run the financial end of the business and Wife handles the daily ops. She cuts my hair and gripes about the condition of my nails.

Boating In States Other Than Your Own...
Oh... yeah... I forgot to mention that Virginia does recognize other state's requirements. I know Washington D.C. requires that you get one of their certifications. I was planning on fishing a tourney on the Potomac and found that I was required to get cert from them. Didn't know about other locations though. Is there a site that lays this out state-by-state?

Boating In States Other Than Your Own...
Ok,,, Virginia requires the boater have a Virginia certified Boater's Safety Course. I know most states have similar requirements. Since I do plan on fishing in different states... how do you guys cover this? I was told I could get a U.S. Coast Guard certificate that is recognized in EVERY state. Is this true? What to do... what to do...

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
Caught both of them at Lucky Island on the south side of the south island. Casting right on the "line" where the drop off is and running it parallel to the shore. Caught a few more but not of that size. All on the 1.5 Chart. Black Back.

Leesville Lake Virginia
Anybody fishing it? I have been a few times this year and it is less than stellar. Today... just a struggle to put 5 in the boat. So much trash/logs/sticks in the water I was afraid to bring the boat up to speed. All I heard was thumps on the hull. Not to mention all the dead grass...cast.... reel in.... clean off... repeat.

Smith Mountain Lake

Smith Mountain Lake
I was up there Friday. I could see Largemouth but could not get a hit. Not many... one or two in the shallows. Carp by the hundreds all in 3 - 5 feet. Must be carp spawn time. As for Smallies... Good luck on a KVD 1.5 Chartreuse Black Back cranked at a fairly quick pace just at the point where the brown shore water turned green. Visibility was better than 5 feet and I only got hits on the shores where the sun was shining. If I got in the shade... nothing. Had a few Stripers on the same crank in the same places as the smallies.

In The Spirit Of Grampa1114's Post...
The shirt/pants stuff... got that covered. Nothing but Columbia... except for the occasional 5.11 worn out job pants. Never fish without a hat or sunglasses. Mainly looking at the head-wrap. Thanks... Buff you say.... hmmmmmm... will look at them ASAP.

In The Spirit Of Grampa1114's Post...
The sun and what it can do to the body is a big concern to all of us. I have seen many of the pros and show hosts wearing head/neck wraps when they fish. Anybody else use one? What type? Brand? Anything special I should know before buying one?

How To Edit And Erased Friends On Facebook?
I just offend the H--l out of someone until they delete me. It does cut down of what "Why did you delete me?" messages afterwards.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
I was speaking with a buddy of mine about SML. I am going and putting in at Penhook Saturday. He advised using a a spinner bait and slow roll it over the mouth of the cuts. I assume that this would work for most anything that can get deep enough. I am planning on using the spinners and give the BiteItBaits a try. Might even try a cranker or two.

BTW... I did try the BiteItBaits that I got from here. No luck but they wouldn't hit ANY thing similar so I do not blame the bait. I will try them again tomorrow on a different presentation.

Leesville Lake Va Tomorrow...
Temps were about 47. Visibility was about 2 to 3 feet with it getting really bad at the shore where there was mud instead of rock. Some pretty good winds washing water up the shore causing the red mud to stain the water thick. Everything I caught was was in 9 feet or less on hard bottom near the rock shores. I did have some bites in 2 to 3 feet of water but no catch. Found large schools of something hovering around 15 feet but no bites. Several schools of baitfish at the same depth but very little coverage by predators.

Leesville Lake Va Tomorrow...
Started out slow but ended up catching 3 largemouth. No real size to speak of... bout 2 pounds. Still it was three. Wouldn't hit anything until I put on a Storm Kickin' Shad Blue Gill. Going to try and go tomorrow.

Towing My Boay With A Ford Explorer
I have cause to drive a 2012 Explorer towing a trailer. I will tow it but I would do as everybody said above. Not knowing your trailer/boat weight I would just recommend this... "Will it move it?" is secondary. "Will it STOP it?" is primary. Years ago in my younger (read: stupid) days... I decided to tow my 20 foot run-about with a Jeep CJ-5. That big V8 and gearing moved it with ease. First hard stop... it pass me and tore up the boat and jeep.
