  1. For a moderate action I think you'll have to look at a rod for walleye or inshore popping.
  2. If you prefer a more moderate action I dont think you'll be happy with anything upper end made by any manufacturer. They'll all be exceptionally crisp and stiff even if they are light. I also prefer a 6 or 6'6" rod and todays technique specific trend in rods makes those sizes even harder to find. The closest thing to a nicely made moderate action rod Ive found is Loomis' crankbait series. Flechero makes a very good point. I find myself more satisfied with a $80 Abu Vendetta I bought recently than I am with my Shimano Cumara's. Side note, I'd love to find a good custom maker who could make a nice 5'6" pistol grip rod. Cant bring myself to use a basspro marked one.
  3. I feel for you, knock on wood Ive never dumped my yak. I recently have changed from all Shimano to trying a few other brands. I think Ive learned that, especially fishing from a yak, I want really tough reels. I fish just as much salt and brackish as I do bass fishing. Ive been really happy with my new Revo SX but I havent used it on the kayak yet. On the yak Im happiest with my simple 4600C3. For spinning Ive found Daiwas Coastal to be really tough. Its a tougher version of the Tierra with a incredible drag.
  4. Ive used mine on 4 outings now and I gotta say I like it better than more $ rods I have. If the metal cap bothers you or gets gouged try a rubber butt boot. Not the type from a hardware store but the ones Bass Pro sells for fly rod reel seats, it will fit perfect and be less obtrusive.
  5. I have a 7'2" Cumara medium. Love it in every way except its length. Just too long for me. Casts like a bandit and while the tips a bit lite Ive had no trouble setting a hook using a fluke. With a Stradic CI4 its heaven made for throwing weightless trick worms.
  6. I just got a 6'3" med casting. I'd say for the money its great. Exceptionally light. There seems to have been good quality control in building it. Matches up with my new Revo SX perfect, made for each other.
  7. I just got back from a week long trip to Paris Tn. and Kentucky Lake. Every fisherman I met was friendly and helpful. Guys offered advise and even lures off their rods. Ive never been to a more cordial state and been so welcomed by other fishermen. Three days of fishing yielded 4 largemouths and so many spotted bass I gave up counting.
  8. Been bass fishing from a yak here in s.w. florida for years. Lots of guys meet up to fish Lake Manatee near Brandenton along with the Braden River. Hillsborough River too. Webb lake is geared for electric motors and canoes only along with Myakka State Park. Check out americanriverfishing.com and click onto florida. Lots of yakkers to talk to there, all bass oriented. P.M. me for more
  9. Ive been very unhappy with the new curado and sold mine off sticking to my old d series curado's. Lately Ive had minor breakdowns with them. That and finding that my new Stradic CI4 2500 was loosing its finish even though its always kept in a shimano reel cover, had made me very disenchanted with Shimano. To try something different I recently got the 2010 SX. Wow a great reel. Solid. An anti reverse different from any Shimano Ive ever used, absolutely no back play. I see more SX's in my future.
  10. Ive had nothing but satisfaction from my Mojo's. That being said they are tip heavy, I think all St. Croix's are. My legend Tournaments included. Just like all St. Croixs seem to be heavier/stiffer in action from rods from other manufacturers. Ive found my mojo's to be better made than my crucials that cost much more.
  11. I fished out of a jon boat yesterday and the rods were stored balanced between the bench seats. I contacted shimano and got a quick reply to my email. I am a member of the shimano posse. Their quick replies were top notch service. As many years as Ive used curados, I was unaware that water could gain entry thru drain holes on the underside of the sideplates. With the reels hanging upside down between the seats thats what happened. Sadly Im a D series fan not a E series. Drag washers arent available anymore so Smooth Drag is my only option there.
  12. Knock 10 bucks off and get a Abu 4600 C3 for $90. It'll survive a rain storm better than the shimano or china made bass pro junk as I found out today. Now Im faced with taking 4 reels down to the inth degree. My old 4600 I could strip down totally relube and put back together in 20 leisure minutes. Sadly my curados dartanium disks didnt survive the rain and broke apart.
  13. Of course the Cumara is a better rod quality and build wise, it better be for what it costs in comparison to the Mojo. I just dont like it as much. Its a broomstick. A sensitive broomstick even if it is rated 1/8 -3/8. Its a preference thing not something about being in the same class. Like how I hate the E series Curado compared to the D. The world thinks Im nuts but its what I prefer.
  14. It was discontinued a few years back.
  15. I have the 6'8" xfast rod. I like it more than my Cumara spinning rod. I dont feel its flimsy or whippy at all. It has caught many 20-30" snook for me this winter. I think the Mojo series of rods are a great value and better than any in house BPS or cabelas rod could be.
  16. Team Daiwa TD-X. Top of the line Daiwa when in was available and very nice....still
  17. Maybe the problem is that it is power pro. If you must use braid at least sufix and daiwa have more carriers and represent a more recent generation of technology. Better yet....buck the trend and use mono, your reel will appreciate it in the future.
  18. Did you lube or wipe it down recently? Often water reacting with oil will look white on various parts of you reel.
  19. I picked up my CI4 in November, the first one to hit town. I wasnt able to fish it till Christmas when Mama Santa let me have it. It was on a 7'2" Cumara. They are made for each other and balance like no other combo. Its an incredible soft plastic outfit.
  20. Zoom Trick Worm, plain watermelon in clear water, black in any other water. Always weightless with a 2/0 or 3/0 hook.
  21. Aluminum. And its still better than the E series.
  22. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to an Ardent C400. Looked exactly like that to both graphite plate, aluminum frame, and a portion of the spool. It was from his overly liberal use of sun screen lotion. He thought he cleaned his hands well enough just wiping them dry, but that isnt good enough. By the way, Ardent replaced the entire reel no charge.
  23. 50lb braid main line uni-knot'ed to 30lb. mono leader 16" to an Owner octopus hook. Always used live bait.
  24. I use 103 PP with my StradicCI4 2500. I have been thinking of replacing it with Sufix in 6# that I used to use with Stradic 1000 in the past. So thin using a leader is almost a mute point. Braids true # strength is way understated also.
  25. The Ft.Myers store has removed every spool of power pro line. They would give no explanation. I went there to return 2 out of 3 long sleeve T's I got for Christmas. Each of the T's were marked the same size, none were the same size! If you find something in the catalog chances are that store doesnt carry it in stock. But they have isles of nick-nacks, under armour sport clothes, and over sized bait fishing equipment not used any further south than Jax.
