Well here it is August 16th and still no boat When I hit a submerged rock on the Potomac and damaged the lower unit of my boats motor; and despite the two hour drive to above Frederick MD when I have a good shop fifteen minutes away; I decided to take my boat to the area’s leading Ranger dealer to have things checked out and taken care of. Imagine my disappointment at the total lack of communications from the shop over the three weeks they’ve had the boat so far. Not one call informing me as to the status of the work, or the estimates on the lower unit, and work I requested on the trolling motor. I did get the estimate on the lower unit through my insurance company, kind of back door. My calls to the shop have been met with guesses when I asked for an estimate on the trolling motor,, “oh, not much”. Communications from this shop have been very disappointing. I can only hope the work will be more professional with all OEM parts and they check out the hull as requested.

It's Friday and Ed, an 82yrs. old, has just finished his physical. 'I'm pleased to say that you're in excellent shape' the Dr. informs him. So Ed asks the doc to give him three * pills. 'What in the world are you going to do with three of them the Dr. inquires. Well, My new honey is coming over tonight and I thought I might show her a good time. 'And the other two?' Well, my landlady is stopping by on Sat. to collect the rent, and I thought I might be able to knock a little off, if you know what I mean and on Sun. my ex will be coming by to collect her alimony and I thought I'd show her what she's been missing. The Dr. thought about it for a minute and agreed, on one condition. First thing Mon. morning, Ed was to stop by so the doc could check him out. The doc went home and didn't think about Ed until Mon. on his train ride into the city. When he got to his office, Ed was already waiting there. With his arm in a sling. 'What the hell happened to you" the doc asked. NOBODY SHOWED!!!

Then try the HDP; or use roller bunks, they provide better support to the boat hull.

Count me out as a boater; if I know the time everyone is coming off the water I may drive over just to say HI. I talked with the insurance Co. today, they got the estimate from the MARE Inc. and we're going with them. So I called Mare to tell them and the serviceman said OK he'll order the parts. I asked about the TM and he hasn't even looked at it yet !?! This is going to be a slow process indeed. Tight Lines everyone.

I would suggest that you insure your boat-to-trailer tie downs are in good shape as the lack of friction from the bunks will place extra stress on your tie downs while towing the boat. I would think your boat will slide in all XY directions with the movement of the trailer. What about covering the HDP with bunk carpet? It would be rot free and have the standard friction.

X2, I looked at this material for my trailer and gave up on the idea after working with HDP on other projects. High-Density Polyethylene do not offer the same support as PT wood per sq foot. I would NOT install them on a heavy Bass Boat trailer, the only support you'll get is where the up-rights are. Using a 2X6, the board between the up-rights is like a rubber band. They may be alright on lighter boats but not the bigger glass boats. The company even states they SPECIALIZE IN SMALL BOAT TRAILERS, PWC'S & BOAT LIFTS.

Ranger made the covers to fit his boat. You pull off the old cover and put on the new one seat at a time. Give ranger a call and give them your boats SN number. We can not find an Auto ulpostery shop around here any longer so Ranger was the best option.

I would call Ranger Parts Dept. to discuss getting a set of covers. I helped a friend replace his bench seat covers using a hand staple gun and a set of saw-horses in his driveway. If I can recall, I think it took us around four hours start to finish, and we had no previous experience.

I'll be there if I get my boat back in time. It's in the shop for a new lower unit and TM; then on to the next shop for hull repairs. I just called the first shop and after two weeks all they have done is look at the engine and TM, and come up with a parts list. The guy I spoke with said he would get the estimate to the insurance company by the end of the day.

Actually, it's kind of funny to work with. You set your boat settings such a draft, cruising speed, and fuel consumption; your starting waypoint and ending waypoint. It calculates a route with auto added waypoints in between and draws a blue line from point to point. There may be some red segments that require editing because they may get too close to, or cross, land. And the app dose not pay any attention to navigational buoys. Therefore, the reason I say it's problematic.

Navionics Mobile has an "Autorouting" upgrade option that works with their "Nav Module" and "Advanced Map Options" on the iPhone, but it's problematic. I gave them feedback on the problems I found but have not heard anything as yet from them on their plans or progress.
