Lowrance NMEA 2000
The transducers are not networkable thru the Lowrancenet. Each unit will have to have it's own transducer. That is why the network connection and the transducer connection on the back of the unit are seperate. To get the best accuracy have the gps antenna mounted as close to where the transducer is located, if it is a boat length away, like you said, you already have that as a margin of error. That is why I have my setup so each unit has it's own gps antenna mounted near the trasducers at the back and on the trolling motor.

detecting softbait strikes
99% of the time you know what a strike doesn't feel like, so when it feels different set the hook.

Fluorocarbon Showdown Sequel (New TT Test Results)
I agree with Dodgeguy about the Seaguar Invisx it handels very well. I have been using 6 and 8 lb. on a 20 size reel with great results. The whole advantage to Flouro was that it was supposed to have the same refractive properties of water so light would pass thur it exactly as it does thru water. I don't know if I really buy into the whole fish being line shy theory. I have caught plenty of smallmouth bass out of very clear water (20ft. +) with braided line even out fishing others in my boat using mono and flouro. But I do believe if the angler believes it makes a difference, the confidence in that it does, will give them better results.

What you want to do whould work fine. I would go to Lowrance.com and get all available updates for that the Lms-480 will work with the new network and antenna. It will also let the units share waypoints. There have also been some updates for your lgc-2000 gps antenna that might help with your problems.

once you use SI everything else is just another depth finder

2 gps units...
All the gps info is in relation to the antenna. So if the transducer is 10 feet away from the antenna there is already a 10 ft margin of error when you set a waypoint. Approach that waypoint from the opposite direction and you could be 20+ feet away from where you originally marked it at and never really find that exact spot again. I would aviod those mounting plates as the unit can block reception of the gps signal especially if the unit is tilted up. The lowrance manual will tell you to try and get the antenna at least 3 ft away from the head unit as well.

Berkley Vanish
I personally think Vanish is the worst flour line out there. I hated it. I really like Seaguar Invisix line though. Has low memory and great knot strenght.

The external model is the 520c and would be networkable with your lms-480, but you will need to use some adaptors to get the older blue network to work with the new red connectors.

Sonar Help
Your eagle should be able to see fish in tree structure, but a higher power unit with higher resolution would make that easier. It will depend how close the fish are to the structure if the unit will be able to tell the difference between the 2. The depth the structure is in will help as well. The shallower the water the smaller area you see at the bottom. A 20 degree cone angle at 15 feet will only see about a 5 foot circle at the bottom.

It would be pretty simply for you to get another unit and connect the 2 together. There is one thing you should know though. Lowrance changed their Lowrancenet connectors for 2007 and if you purchased a 2007 unit you would need to get an adaptor to be able to plug you Lms-480 into a new network. You would probaly have to get the latest update installed to be able to use the new LGC-2000 gps antenna with your unit. If you could find a left over 2006 model, like an lms-332c, you wouldn't have to get any adptors as they have the same connectors.

2 gps units...
I have run 2 different brands for a while (Humminbird and Lowrance) so I had to have them set up indepent of each other. I now have 2 Humminbirds a 787c2 and a 997c. Both are color units and the 997c has Side Imaging. The 997 is mounted at the console and the 787 runs thru my universal sonar in my Minn Kota trolling motor. I have them run thru a Humminbird Interlink to share waypoints and other information. I do have each unit using it's own gps antenna though. I wanted to have each units gps antenna as close to where the transducer is mounted as possible to give as little margin of error as possible when marking structure. But you could have them work off of 1 gps antenna.

PROP QUESTION
Going to a lower pitch will help your hole shot as will a 4 blade prop. The pitch will up your rpm a little bit too which will help your motor turn up to its max of 5750. You will probably be a little slower though, but not much. I have a 4 blade 24 pitch on my 150 on a 18' boat and it jumps up on plane but it tops out at 60 mph.

Revo SC?
From Cabela's website Abu Garcia Revo SC Casting Reel Model Line Capacity (yds./lb. test) Gear Ratio Bearings Weight (oz.) Qty Price Revo SC 140/12 7.1:1 8+1 8.6 $129.99 I agree about the 6 pin braking system, but I know it has the external braking control.
-
Revo SC?
The bearing count came from the box the reel comes in and from Cabela's website. It has 2 less bearing that the SX. It also has the external magnetic braking control and high speed 7.1:1 ration that the S version doesn't have, but it only is available in right hand retrieve. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0042976121669a&navCount=0&podId=0042976&parentId=cat602653&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=null-cat602653&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat602653&cmCat=netcon&cm_ven=netcon&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=abu%20revo%20sc&cm_ite=netcon&hasJS=true

Revo SC?
Same quality, just 2 less bearings and it is painted red. The cool thing with Cabela's is that anything you buy there is 100% refundable, exchangable, etc. for any reason.

minkota replacment prop.
You will need to get the right one for your motor. Use this link to select the right prop. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/_docs/selectprop.pdf Most stores that sell the motors should have replacement props.

kistler rods ?
I don't know what blanks the Helium rods use but I do know that I love my Helium rods and find that they are worth the money. It is one of the lightest, strongest, most sensitive rods made period.

Shimano or Daiwa
I have used both and both are good reels for the money. I like the 100 size Citia better than the 200. Cabelas has a sale on the Advantage right now though http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0010924119141a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=diawa+advantage&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=diawa+advantage&noImage=0

Revo or Revo S... worth the extra 50 bucks?
The Cabela's Revo SC has been out since just after the first of the year, but it is only available in right hand retrieve.
-
My disgust with Shimano
Just take it back to Cabela's and exchange it over the counter for a brand new one. They do it all the time.

Revo or Revo S... worth the extra 50 bucks?
Cabela's has an exclusive Revo SC. Has the magnetic brake of the SX but 2 less bearings for $129.99 Give a look here http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0042976121669a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=revo&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=revo&noImage=0

New electronics...
Sonar are you eyes underwater and can tell you a lot about what is happening down there. With you budget of $400 I would get 1 good sonar. Cheap sonars are exactly that, cheap. They will last a couple of years and they you throw them away and get a new one. If you really want them to be fishing tools, get a good one. If you just want depth and temp then save a few bucks and go cheap. I have gps on the console and front end and probably find I do most of my marking at the front but use the console gps to get back to those spots quickly. I just recently got a Humminbird 997 side imaging unit and that thing is absolutely amazing, but quite expensive. For you budget get the most pixels and power you can afford. If you want gps try a Humminbird 580 with mapping and get yourself and extra mount and transducer so you can move it from the console to the front. Unit runs $360 + $30 mount and $50 for extra transducer.
